About Youth Academy – Fairmont

Youth Academy operates from 7 Crosswind Drive in Fairmont. The site sits in Marion County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Barrackville, Carolina and Enterprise. West Virginia draws people across long distances for treatment, so travel time is worth weighing against waiting time.

Residential treatment is delivered here, alongside care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Treatment Services at Youth Academy

Residential treatment runs to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers. Ask what happens at the end of the program as well as the beginning, since that is where plans usually thin out. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.

Youth Academy Address, Location and Contact Information

The address is 7 Crosswind Drive, Fairmont, WV 26554, in Marion County. The catchment reaches Barrackville, Carolina and Enterprise. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity.

Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip. Opening hours shift with staffing, and an evening slot one month may not exist the next. Waiting times vary with capacity, so call ahead rather than arriving unannounced.

The only good thing I got outta this place was my ged and working out. Other than that nothing. Also let the whole campus start a riot at camp and many individuals had injuries and some sent off. And they’re not allowed… back. Horrible upper management. Other than the program directors and some case managers.

You couldn’t give ur friends a hug, they wouldn’t even let you work out when all they feed you is unhealthy food not to mention if you want to go on a fast you will get put on a “safety plan” and not be able to see ur… family. Only few staff care one person should not affect everyone else👎👎

Recently left here on the 20th on January because I had to be home for the new school semester and they helped me but also times were tough with my peers, a lot of the staff helped me but there were a few that had… favorites and didn’t pay any attention to the ones that weren’t their favorites. It was definitely a good place but there were obviously a few flaws, I miss this place occasionally but I’m glad I went and left because this place helped a lot.

As a kid who went to academy programs all of the people who said it’s great and gave it 5 stars lied it’s literal hell and only a few staff actually care about the kids the rest are just there for the money. My mental… health was deteriorating and no one did anything not to mention you can only see your family once a week and that’s if you live close for me I live 4 hours away and for my family to be able to see me it costed around $200 a week and not to mention you only get two 10 minute phone calls a week. Overall a horrible experience 0/10 recommend.

Miss Erica and miss Megan were amazing when I was here and I was teaching my daughter a dance I learnt at camp to Dynamite years ago today and it made me remember how much this place helped me become the person and mom… I am today. And I still have just as much fun doing the same dance like 12 years later as the day I did it with miss megan and the group but now I get to with my daughter. I have a lot of good memories from here. Thank you to everyone who helped me become the person I am today!! You guys never gave up on me and to this day I still appreciate everything I learned there.

I hated this place. This place made my mental health worse than when I got there, I now have reoccurring nightmares that they're making me come back. It's turned into ptsd and alot of what they did here never helped.… The only people that really helped me was Mr. Kelly who helped me study for my hiset and helped me pass. Miss kelsy was someone who I could always talk to and she was one of my favorite people there aswell. I felt like most of the staff berated me on my autism and told me that I didn't have it when I in fact did, they told me to stop talking about it and not to bring it up anymore. I'm sure I wasn't the best kid there but still feel like I just wasn't treated correctly. This place has caused me ptsd. I wouldn't wish sending my worst enemy to Academy programs.

The case manager was not working in the best interest of the child It was more of a reform school than duel disorder . There service coordinator to not even get consistent family therapy established or work on it any… other child's goals. Very disappointed
