Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

What is Vanderbilt insurance?

Vanderbilt is not an insurance company. On a treatment center's list it usually means a self-funded employee health plan from one of two Nashville employers: Vanderbilt University, administered by Aetna, or Vanderbilt University Medical Center, administered by Meritain Health. The two organizations separated in April 2016.

The name on the member card tells you which plan you have: Aetna at 1-800-743-0910 for the university, Meritain at 800.925.2272 for the medical center.

Private Insurance Acceptedhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/private-insurance-accepted/
Is Vanderbilt insurance the same as Aetna?

Yes, in practice for Vanderbilt University employees: the plans are named Vanderbilt Aetna Select PPO and Vanderbilt Aetna Choice CDHP, self-funded by the university and administered by Aetna Life Insurance Company on the Aetna National Network. Vanderbilt University Medical Center plans are administered by Meritain Health, an Aetna and CVS Health subsidiary.

On the medical center plans, Aetna's preferred network sits at Tier 2, so Aetna providers cost more than VUMC and VHAN providers at Tier 1.

Luxury Rehab That Accepts Aetnahttps://rehabseekers.com/type/luxury/aetna/
Does Vanderbilt insurance cover rehab?

Yes. The Vanderbilt University Aetna plan covers substance use treatment at every level: inpatient room and board in a hospital, psychiatric hospital or residential treatment facility, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, outpatient visits and ambulatory detox. Vanderbilt University Medical Center plans cover behavioral health across three network tiers.

Wilderness programs, educational and recreational services, transportation, custodial behavioral care and assisted living charges are excluded on the university plan.

Vanderbilt is not an insurance company. On a treatment center’s insurance list the name almost always means one of two self-funded employer health plans based in Nashville: the Group Health Care Plan for Vanderbilt University, administered by Aetna Life Insurance Company, or the Vanderbilt University Medical Center plan, branded Vanderbilt Health and administered by Meritain Health. The employer pays the claims; the administrator runs the network and the paperwork.

The two employers became legally and financially separate in April 2016, which is why there are two plans and two sets of rules. The university side runs on the Aetna National Network, so care is reachable through Aetna providers in any state. The medical center side runs three tiers: VUMC and Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network providers at Tier 1, Aetna Preferred at Tier 2, and everything else at Tier 3. A third card also carries the name, the Vanderbilt Student Health Insurance Plan, which is a UnitedHealthcare product.

This guide sets out what each plan pays for at every level of addiction treatment, where precertification applies and how far ahead it has to be filed, what a stay costs under the 2026 deductibles and cost shares, how medication is handled by two different pharmacy administrators, and how to work out whether a program sits inside the network your card points to.
