About DASSA Aboriginal Connection Program – Adelaide Metro
DASSA Aboriginal Connection Program – Adelaide Metro is a dedicated alcohol and other drug service for Aboriginal people in inner-city Adelaide, including those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Case workers run substance misuse assessments and connect clients with the supports they need, at no cost.
Referrals into the service are considered through the Adelaide Zero Project inner-city process, and no referral from a health professional is needed before making contact. Case workers refer on to homelessness and mental health services where that is what is needed, and work alongside the wider Drug and Alcohol Services (SA) team based at the same Stepney address. Appointments are arranged by phone.

DASSA Aboriginal Connection Program – Adelaide Metro Alcohol and Drug Services
Assessment, referral and outreach are the services listed for DASSA Aboriginal Connection Program – Adelaide Metro. Case workers complete substance misuse assessments, then link Aboriginal clients to the treatment, homelessness and mental health supports that fit, including services run by the wider Drug and Alcohol Services (SA) network.
Outreach means case workers can meet clients where they are rather than only at Stepney, which matters for anyone sleeping rough in the inner city. Counselling, withdrawal management and medication are not listed for this programme itself; those sit with other parts of the service, and the case worker arranges the handover. Inner-city referral is considered through the Adelaide Zero Project process.

DASSA Aboriginal Connection Program – Adelaide Metro Reviews
Reviews of DASSA Aboriginal Connection Program – Adelaide Metro from around the web are limited, which is usual for a small case work team working with Aboriginal people who are homeless or at risk. RehabSeekers hosts reviews, and anyone who has worked with a case worker here is welcome to share their experience.
Several parts of Drug and Alcohol Services (SA) operate from the same Stepney address, so online comment tends to cover the site as a whole rather than this programme. A note on how the assessment felt, how quickly a referral came through and whether outreach made contact easier would be worth a great deal to Aboriginal people considering it.
My script had run out and I'm normally on top of all of this. But between my Dr, the chemist and myself, it was missed. Thank goodness they helped me out. I'm not sure what I could have done if they weren't so helpful.… Thank you M, you know who you are 😊 Bless you 🙏🏼
They all know me well and my new baby 🥰 thank you very much for you're care and attention to what life really is, a mess and you guy's are all such a big part of my life now for the better. Ive been blessed to find… dassa to get this help ive been struggling with kinda all my life. I know where to go if I find my self in a mess again
If your trying to get better, telling the truth to your doctor, then referred to dassa, then STOP. All they are is hippies and name tag. Unfortunately your better off getting from the street. All you do by being honest… is getting red flagged. Save yourself the substantial trouble and stay away
Great staff, great support.Highly recommend them if you are in need of support
I haven't been there yet but the customer service on the phone was amazing bashar sadik 😀😀
WARNING!!! If you enter the Methadone/Suboxone program you will never EVER be prescribed any analgesics again. Even after you quit the program. A DASSA drug counsellor talked me into it because of a Xanax addiction. I… was only on Methadone for 3 months so it was easy to come off. (It supposed to be for temporary use only). Then 18 months later I injured my knee at work and sought pain relief from my GP and was told sorry because of DASSA regulations I cannot prescribe you any analgesics or drugs of dependence, your only option is Methadone. Even though my addiction was benzodiazepines his hands were tied. I wanted to work so I had no choice. In 2019 I nearly lost my leg in a serious car accident and once discharged from hospital I was in so much agony I wanted to take my own life as Methadone wasn't enough for the acute pain I was in. My injuries still cause me significant pain most of time but If I quit the program my only pain relief options are panadol and aspirin. For acute pain, methamphetamines and marijuana. I even wrote to DASSA explaining my issues but was told to talk to my methadone prescribing doctor who was angry that I went behind his back. The program has ruined my life because I sought help for a temporary benzo addiction which in the end I managed to get off myself, plus Methadone successfully. Its not a one size fits all and people should be informed of these harsh DASSA regulations. Now you know so you can make the right choice knowing this program will affect your future forever.
Very friendly staff; water cooler ran out of cups so they kindly gave everyone waiting chilled water bottles. Keep up the good work shout out to reception staff 👏
Can't say it was easygoing but the staff and contacts were readily available and take the time to listen as they already understand. One public service we can count on... do it.
Great full for the service they offer for ppl who need it
I called DASSA and spoke with Elizabeth. She was extremely professional and very helpful in helping me find the right people to speak to. Thanks again.
