About DASSA Central Metro
DASSA Central Metro is an outpatient site of Drug and Alcohol Services (SA) at Stepney, just east of the Adelaide city centre. The clinic offers free, confidential assessment and treatment for individuals whose alcohol or other drug problems are severe or complex, and no referral is needed.
Four services are listed for the site: medication assisted treatment of opioid dependence, assessment and referral, withdrawal management and counselling. Because referral is not required, you or someone you care about can ring the clinic on (08) 7425 5000 or the statewide line on 1300 131 340 and start with an assessment. The Aboriginal Connection programme for inner-city Adelaide works from the same Magill Road building.

DASSA Central Metro Alcohol and Drug Services
Medication assisted treatment of opioid dependence anchors what DASSA Central Metro provides, alongside assessment and referral, withdrawal management and counselling. The site is non-residential, and where withdrawal management is needed the setting is not listed, so the assessment decides what form it takes and where it happens.
Counselling at the clinic is aimed at individuals with severe or complex alcohol or other drug problems, and the service is open to all audiences rather than one group. Named therapies, medications beyond opioid pharmacotherapy and support services are not listed for the site, so the assessment appointment is the point at which the team sets out what is on offer. No referral is needed to arrange one.

How Much Does Treatment at DASSA Central Metro Cost?
Treatment at DASSA Central Metro is free. The site states there is no cost to clients, with Drug and Alcohol Services (SA) funding the assessment, the medication assisted treatment of opioid dependence, withdrawal management and counselling through the South Australian public health system.
No private pay rate, insurance arrangement or concession scale is listed for the clinic. Where opioid pharmacotherapy is dispensed through a community pharmacy, the clinic can explain how that is handled. Travel across Adelaide to Stepney is the practical cost to plan for, and the assessment team can set out what is covered before the first appointment.

DASSA Central Metro Reviews
Public reviews of DASSA Central Metro are limited around the web, which is common for a free outpatient clinic inside a state alcohol and drug service. RehabSeekers hosts reviews for this site, and anyone who has attended the Magill Road clinic is welcome to share what the experience was like.
Because the Aboriginal Connection programme operates from the same address, feedback posted online can describe the building rather than this clinic. A first-hand account of how long the wait for an assessment ran, how the opioid pharmacotherapy review worked and what the counselling covered would give individuals a far better sense of what to expect.
My script had run out and I'm normally on top of all of this. But between my Dr, the chemist and myself, it was missed. Thank goodness they helped me out. I'm not sure what I could have done if they weren't so helpful.… Thank you M, you know who you are 😊 Bless you 🙏🏼
They all know me well and my new baby 🥰 thank you very much for you're care and attention to what life really is, a mess and you guy's are all such a big part of my life now for the better. Ive been blessed to find… dassa to get this help ive been struggling with kinda all my life. I know where to go if I find my self in a mess again
If your trying to get better, telling the truth to your doctor, then referred to dassa, then STOP. All they are is hippies and name tag. Unfortunately your better off getting from the street. All you do by being honest… is getting red flagged. Save yourself the substantial trouble and stay away
Great staff, great support.Highly recommend them if you are in need of support
I haven't been there yet but the customer service on the phone was amazing bashar sadik 😀😀
WARNING!!! If you enter the Methadone/Suboxone program you will never EVER be prescribed any analgesics again. Even after you quit the program. A DASSA drug counsellor talked me into it because of a Xanax addiction. I… was only on Methadone for 3 months so it was easy to come off. (It supposed to be for temporary use only). Then 18 months later I injured my knee at work and sought pain relief from my GP and was told sorry because of DASSA regulations I cannot prescribe you any analgesics or drugs of dependence, your only option is Methadone. Even though my addiction was benzodiazepines his hands were tied. I wanted to work so I had no choice. In 2019 I nearly lost my leg in a serious car accident and once discharged from hospital I was in so much agony I wanted to take my own life as Methadone wasn't enough for the acute pain I was in. My injuries still cause me significant pain most of time but If I quit the program my only pain relief options are panadol and aspirin. For acute pain, methamphetamines and marijuana. I even wrote to DASSA explaining my issues but was told to talk to my methadone prescribing doctor who was angry that I went behind his back. The program has ruined my life because I sought help for a temporary benzo addiction which in the end I managed to get off myself, plus Methadone successfully. Its not a one size fits all and people should be informed of these harsh DASSA regulations. Now you know so you can make the right choice knowing this program will affect your future forever.
Very friendly staff; water cooler ran out of cups so they kindly gave everyone waiting chilled water bottles. Keep up the good work shout out to reception staff 👏
Can't say it was easygoing but the staff and contacts were readily available and take the time to listen as they already understand. One public service we can count on... do it.
Great full for the service they offer for ppl who need it
I called DASSA and spoke with Elizabeth. She was extremely professional and very helpful in helping me find the right people to speak to. Thanks again.
