Friendly House – Los Angeles Reviews
A family in Los Angeles deciding on treatment wants to hear from someone who has been there. Reviews of Friendly House give them that.

Friendly house has the potential to be so good. And an amazing place tor women. But if god forbid you have questions, set firm boundaries, or if you slightly deviate from the perspective they’re looking for, you won’t… succeed there. Also lots of gaslighting
They took my daughter who was going to die if she continued living the way she was living, and returned a mature, beautiful , clear headed woman. It's not co-ed so that drama isn't there.
Friendly house saved my life
This place changed my life. It saved me and made me live myself again. I was able to get my children back and have a second chance at life.
This place truly saved my life. Walking in, I was broken and unsure if I even deserved another chance but I left with hope, community, and a sense of peace I’d never known. Being surrounded by women who genuinely care… and understand was life changing. The staff go above and beyond; they meet you with compassion and strength. This isn’t just a rehab, it’s a sanctuary and a sisterhood. I’m forever grateful.
Friendly House truly saved my life. There’s something magical about this place if you just give it time and listen to the people who work there. The staff are beyond wonderful—patient, kind, and genuinely caring. They… teach you the tools you really need and support you as you learn how to live a healthy, fulfilling life. This place feels so safe, like a hug in the form of a home. You don’t just get help here; you gain a family. Even years later, I still look at Friendly House as home and feel endless gratitude for the love and healing I found within those walls.
This place got me on the path to saving my life. I still struggle but the women at friendly house are a testament to what sober life can be like. Every single woman in this facility changed my life and I will always… have love for them and this place. If you know someone struggling or you’re struggling, reach out. They will do their best to help you
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Friendly House. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with kindness, respect, and genuine care. The staff are incredibly supportive and truly dedicated to helping women heal… and rebuild their lives. The programs are well-structured, and the environment feels safe, empowering, and full of hope. I’ve made lasting friendships here and gained tools that I’ll carry with me forever. If you or a loved one is seeking help, I wholeheartedly recommend Friendly House. It’s a place of real transformation and healing.
Friendly House is an amazing place for recovery. The staff is thoughtful and caring.
Encourages independence and demonstrates perfect examples of how well sobriety can be administered if given the right amount of effort.
What do I say about friendly house. They have provided me a second chance at life. Never did I think I’d ever see the light again. However through the kindness and warmth of the family that is friendly house I started… to finally see it. I went from living on the streets struggling with addiction, to finally stable, living my dream life, working my dream career. Through the programs they provide and the lovely staff I was welcoming and supported through my soul searching and self healing. Never did I feel alone, there was a smile at every corner. I found my chosen family and never will I return to the life I was living. That’s all thanks to friendly house
Friendly House is the best place to be if you are struggling with addiction. The counselors and staff are amazing and they really care about the health and safety of the clients they serve. I found a home and community… there that will follow me the rest of my life.
This place literally saved my life. The care and commitment they have for their residents is top notch.
Friendly House gave me life, a life to be excited for, and a life worth living. FH has an exceptional team of professional, caring women. The time I spent there, I hold dear in my heart. I left the beautiful “HOME” with… a Grateful Heart, Sobriety, and Sisters.
I had the privilege of spending 1 month at Friendly House. I obtained so much knowledge in all the different groups, practiced yoga, and meditation. It didn’t feel like being in a rehab. Everyone treated me like family.… The staff went above and beyond to make me feel right at home and catered to any needs I might have needed. I made lifelong relationships that I will cherish. Thank you Friendly House!
I absolutely love the friendly house it truly changed my life. I learned so many tools and made amazing connections. The staff truly cares and makes you feel heard. I highly recommend this place it does so much to help… you understand yourself.
My experience at the friendly house overall was great I have no complaints. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. I’ve lived in LA for years and never knew friendly house was a rehab facility that was so close to me.I… thank everyone there who has helped me and hope the best for everyone their thank u Friendly house for everything.
Friendly House is amazing and awesome in just about every way that most females need to achieve long time sobriety. I had an incredible experience as a mature Southern mom of 3 college age children for whom life had… seemed unbearable after a much needed divorce. I went from suicidal depression drowning in alcoholic tendencies to finding a way to actually love myself and life again. After 5 months of treatment in the beautiful original house I moved to the Sober Living residence for an additional 26 months. And, thanks to the incredible women I met throughout this journey, I have now been sober for the last five and one half years and still going strong. Although it is decidedly not a religious based treatment facility (and welcoming to any/all/none forms of religion I was able to reconnect to God because of the changes that occur with sobriety!
I was greeted with kindness and friendliness as I walked through the doors of Friendly House. The atmosphere is warm and sincere. You will start building connections immediately. Staff are equipped to meet you where you… are at. I recommend Friendly House to anyone looking for a therapeutic experience.
This is a good rehab if you are coming off of hard substances. But if you aren’t, you are in danger of them feeding you so many detox meds. I spent two days in ICU and maybe another day in a regular hospital room. They… were great about visiting me, as they should have been seeing as how they almost killed me. My blood pressure was 58/30 and I had to go through the trauma of having a pick inserted and sewn onto my jugular vein. I came back to continue the program, assuming this had to be some fluke of nature. Surely some understandable mistake. Friendly house got overly involved in my marriage, restricting contact with my husband to the point I had one contact with him in two weeks. They ultimately cut me off from my spouse who I was supposed to have therapy with. This was a direct result of the house, a medical facility, mind you, being left unattended and a 51 year old client got up at three am and began making frantic phone calls on the street. They accused me of calling his rehab and when I asked them to pull video footage they were unable to navigate their own security system, which was super cool seeing as how there had been gun shots, spotlights, police and at least one apprehended criminal in the adjacent yard that night according to those who were awake. I was medicated into a soft coma so I missed that part. After the inefficient display of technological expertise was poorly demonstrated , I suggested a tool to resolve the issue. Literally conflict resolution. Easy peasy. Basic. I was too angry to be left with the screaming chicken head without a professionally guided processed conversation. I was denied my coping skill so I said a statement I knew would get me dismissed. I no longer felt safe there. I went and saw Marilyn’s star and headed to LAX. I will be seeing an IOP behavioral health specialist. FH was well informed of my mental state and assured they could treat me. They have little to no discernment on individualizing treatment. Might as well spin a wheel and stick yourself where you land.
Friendly house is NOT your typical treatment center. I have been to many treatment centers and friendly house is more like a family. The groups are amazing and insightful and the staff truly cares. I have never had such… a profound transformation then I’ve experienced at friendly house. Friendly house is lgbtq+ friendly, incredibly diverse, and women supporting women. I would highly recommend friendly house to anyone who is serious about recovery and is willing to do the work. This place saved my life and gave me hope.
This place is honestly the best thing that has ever happened to me. Somehow they mix treatment and fun and miracles happen. Best treatment experience I could ask for. Staff is loving and kind. The house is beautiful and… feels like a home. They truly do love you until you can love yourself. Thank you friendly house for the chance to save myself.
Hello, my name is Christine, I'm a recent graduate of Friendly House – and I have never felt better in my life. Rewind a year, and I was in a bad place. A quote I have come to identify with is, "The house of delusion is… cheap to build - but drafty to live in." I was the living embodiment as I ordered delivery for another box of chardonnay and put on a coat to prepare for the winter. At that time, I didn't know that the winter I was experiencing only existed in my Los Angeles apartment. However, this wasn't new to me – I had been drinking my whole life as an answer to the pain of my childhood - when admitting the abuse and feeling the feelings were too much to handle, an easy pour into my glass made it go away. I had a rock bottom – but I'm not here to talk about that – you can come to the meetings for that *crack a smile*. I'm here to tell you about the amazing work of Friendly House and how the caring and generosity in this room turned my life around. I was referred to Friendly House directly from the hospital and I was lucky to have insurance, but we all know that only covers a fraction of Friendly house's costs. Right after I was admitted – and after my first conversations - I knew I was in the right place. There are so many pieces to Friendly House that make it what it is: The staff was warm and caring throughout the process – not only with me - but also did an amazing job communicating with my family and helping them reconnect with me. The therapy gave me the ability not only to rewind and process my pain but move forward with a new perspective. The meetings and outings helped me bond with a group of people I now call my tribe – an incredibly strong group of women who have shown me acceptance, love, and empathy. And the physical space – both Friendly House and the sober living house has given me a platform to learn how to live sober and be around supportive women during my recovery. Overall it has been one of the best experiences in my life -- that I never want to do again *joke*. But, in all seriousness, I know these things require an enormous amount of resources to make them available to us. I want to emphasize how thankful I am that this was made available to me and let those of you who have contributed financially or with your time that you have and will continue to make a difference in people's lives. I am living proof of that. Thank You!
Friendly house completely changed my life and saved me from ending it. This rehabilitation facility is welcoming, uplifting, compassionate, and comforting in every way possible. The community attached is vibrant and… encouraging - would recommend anyone struggling with substance abuse to reach out to them.
I had the honor of being apart of Friendly House for three months and within that time I was taught coping skills, how to prevent relapse, different therapeutic techniques, and how to navigate life sober. The staff are… excellent and well-attuned to the needs of each resident. They are some of the kindest, most caring and humble people I have had the privilege to meet in my recovery journey. One of the most important parts of Friendly House is that they set up multiple activities, including equine therapy, yoga or breath works. They set you up to ensure that you know that is possible to have fun AND be sober. I couldn’t recommend it more if you want to get sober around an inclusive, engaging, loving community.
I was there for 12 days before I was administratively discharged for expressing my confusion and concerns surrounding their overtly religious approach to treatment. Judeo-Christian prayers are posted throughout the… house, they distribute materials rooted in theism in their group therapy sessions (which are run by recovering addicts/AA advocates as opposed to licensed counselors), and they require residents to participate in saying grace before dinner and prayers at AA meetings. Friendly House likes to claim that they are a non-religious program, yet they impose Abrahamic ideologies on their residents at every turn. Free expression is prohibited for those who do not share their views or question the religious foundations of their teachings. I was instructed by the program director to not discuss my views with residents; meanwhile, other residents were permitted and encouraged to share their belief in God. As a secular Buddhist, I was discriminated against and berated for bringing questions about the program to staff members. Before I was discharged, a staff member attempted to gaslight me by insisting the program was non-religious. When I asked for space, she chased me around the house to scold me. I suffer from PTSD from childhood abuse and this event was extremely triggering and traumatizing. I felt physically threatened and unsafe in an environment I could not escape. This is a treatment center that touts being a safe haven/providing therapy for those with trauma and instead they abuse those who reject their religious suggestions. After my altercation, I was discharged with no concrete treatment plan and no concern for how I’d get home. The lack of experience and professionalism at Friendly House are not only despicable, but dangerous to those coming to them in their weakest and most desperate moments.
From both my experience with multiple rehabs and that of other girls I spoke with, this is hands down the absolute best rehab you’re going to find. The program offers a wide array of therapeutic activities and groups… that were incredibly effective for me. The staff is extremely attentive and will drop anything to talk to the residents. In my time there, the residents themselves were also very cohesive and supportive of each other with virtually no drama (unusual for 12 girls in one house) and I think it is because the staff sets a great example and helps girls develop conflict resolution skills. Being a small facility, there is much more individualized attention than most places. I was able to work through a lot of things, thought patterns and behaviors that have been holding me back for many years and learn to handle many life situations Ina healthier way. The Friendly House emphasizes holistic health- mental, physical, emotional and spiritual. They will help you navigate any pressing outside issues and encourage communication with outside support. They are very prompt in dealing with any medical or medication issues. I was only planning to stay 30d and ended up staying 90d and it changed my life. I cannot emphasize enough how much I recommend the Friendly House.
I was referred to Friendly House thru my employer's Employee Assistance Program for a family member that needed immediate assistance. The call was answered by Kelli Easley. I'm so grateful to have spoken with Kelli,… because she had such an abundance of knowledge and understanding and was immediately able to help get my family member into 90 day treatment program. I had spoken to several other programs, however, no others offered what was offered at Friendly House. This facility is located in a beautiful home in L.A. and is staffed with the best professionals in the field. Thank you Friendly House!
