Coachella Valley Behavioral Health – Indio Reviews
Nobody knows a treatment program like the patients who went through it. Their reviews of Coachella Valley Behavioral Health in Indio, and those of their families, are collected here.
Healthcare workers and referrers who know the facility are welcome to add what they have seen.
One of the.. no, the worst facility of this type I have ever been to. The ward was disgusting. The nurses were 9.9/10 actively petty and cruel towards patients. According to the nurses there’s no communication from… their management to them.. and it really shows. I’ve never been to jail before. But this pretty much felt like it. “Single file line! Don’t get out of line!” In fact one nurse told me “don’t make friends here. Stay in your ‘cell’”. Just phenomenal. The social worker was no better. “Your dad said he didn’t want you when we called him”. The transcript from what my father actually said was wildly different. The nurses were happy to parrot that line as well. After speaking with my father he was clear he never said that and after that one call she never attempted to call him again. They took down none of emergency contacts. I hope no one gets stuck here again. Oh yeah. There was 0 therapy or groups. Super helpful.
Our family member had a very positive experience with Coachella Valley Behavioral Health. The staff was professional, compassionate, and genuinely cared about my family members well-being from the moment he arrived. The… therapists and care team took the time to listen and provide support. The environment was clean, welcoming, and focused on recovery. I'm grateful for the care my family member received, thank you for all your help.
Great place . My sister was just there. Lots of new staff but most were super nice. My sister is elderly and said all the nurses on Colorado were very nice and helpful. A newer nurse named Jen helped her find her dog… after the cops took it , this past week . Even tho there were newer nurses there, and they were learning to do something on the computer. She said the rn went above and beyond and showed compassionate . She felt heard and listened to and acknowledged. Most nurses just want to push meds and chart. She said that wasn't the case there. Thanks to this place she learned coping mechanisms for her anxiety. She was able get her dog and car back from the shelter and she has a wonderful outpatient treatment team. So thank you Jen and all the nurses that helped my sister feel heard
I have nothing but high. Regards, for Coachella Valley Behavioral Health. I was an inpatient, and fortunate enough to continue my journey by attending group outpatient therapy. I was given the tools I so desperately… needed. Thank you to all the staff that I was fortunate enough to meet, and learn from.
My son is currently in this facility. There is absolutely no therapy, no groups no help! My son is there suffering in silence. He also has a severe gluten-free allergy and it’s basically being ignored so he’s unable to… eat the meals there, other than occasionally sliced chicken. He checked himself in because he was a danger to society and his home, we were hoping he would learn coping skills, but that doesn’t seem to be happening, so he’ll be leaving there with no knowledge on how to help himself. I am now wondering who will be held accountable when he’s released if something goes wrong because my son is not well, which is why he checked in.
ive been on hold for 45 minutes trying to get ahold of mom
Excellent place, the staff are very good and provide excellent patient care.
This was the most unprofessional, dangerous, and inadequate care I have ever seen in my life. The environment was deeply abusive and inappropriate, there were patients with severe dementia on the hall coming into other… patient rooms, and there was no actual care. The staff were highly undertrained and unprofessional. I was told I would meet with a physician regarding my physical health at intake, but that never happened. The psychiatrist was rude and uncaring. The art rooms and gym and all of the facility were not used. We were marched single file to the dining area where the food given was not adequate. It was very akin to a concentration camp or prison. Staff laughed at people in distress and did not provide them medications. I am deeply shocked after hearing all the positive news about this center. There was no care provided here. Please bring anyone in need to a better facility. I will be filing formal complaints with the state and county. I saw young and elderly people being abused and I'm going to be very loud about this.
No communication between any clients and staff or staff to staff. Nothing but Volume breakfast, lunch and dinner as I dealt with side effects coming off of my normal meds so fast. Never been so scared in the hospital… setting. Due to lack of communication, I found out I was 5250 and had the courts drop it to a 5150 all because of the lack of communication as my 72 hold came to an end Scary.. I was too foggy to defend myself. I'm also a veteran and I would never choose this place over my VA hospital🙏
Staff was unprofessional, and rude.
This place is good for women and men over 18 with all kinds of psychological problems, as they provide excellent, nutritious, tasty, and varied food every 7 days a week, along with a variety of activities such as… sports, drawing, painting, and much more. The entire staff is very good in this regard, but regarding the follow-up on home medication and its integration with the new medication for the psychological problem, I would give it a #1 rating for calcification, since the new medication is excellent, but the home medication is very poor and difficult to correct. This isn't difficult to fix or correct, but there's something very important I saw during my stay at this recovery center to improve recovery, and very, very important: visits from family, friends, or whatever you want to call them. Please visit your loved ones, including myself, when we are there. We need attention. SUPPORT, WHAT IS REALLY NEEDED IS LOVE. Phone calls from family or friends to the patients are very important for their mental recovery, as it makes me think that what they want is the money of the patients, and this is a scam. Excuse my point of view, thank you. THESE PLACES NEED A LOT OF SUPPORT. WE HAVE TO MAKE "DONATIONS" FOR FOOD AND EVERYTHING THAT RECOVERY ENTAILS. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. P.S.: VISIT OR PHONE THEIR LOVED ONES. GIVE A LITTLE LOVE "JESUS LIVES" GIVE A LITTLE OR A LOT OF YOUR HEART. "DONATION"
I went that place first time it good place I meet friends Raheem Kevin spencer, and Juan I love this place and the nurse so friendly. I took meds I lesson I’ve been respectful. Thank you, Coachella Valley. Keep it up… this place.
NICO, NICO, NICO! He is the best band deserves to lead the nurses! Don’t change you! You’re prefect!!!! All of the other nurses and staff are some of the worst people that this world has created! They do not care about… your health let alone mental health! They claim that they will not Uber you here but they will Uber you home. That is a lie! They refused to Uber. Anybody home regardless the situation. I intend to file an ADA complaint as my rights have been violated. Staff is rude and find ways not to help. STAY AWAY FROM THIS FACILITY!
Very friendly staff and my peers (the other patients) were pretty chill too. Was able to recover from a depressive episode. The facility itself is with its gym, craft room, patio, and overall not scary but warm vibe… (contrary to regular hospitals). Food was surprisingly good in my opinion. I will say nurses do have a tendency to say “maybe tomorrow” when you ask when you be released. Other than that I am content with my experience there.
I can only guess this entity has it's hands in big pharma. Absolutely zero therapy takes place. None. Residents are 'turned out' in a yard 2-3 times daily to walk in circles and then typically taken to the 'activity… room' where staff sit on their phones and residents are given coloring pages; something that resembles the lowest level of daycare imaginable. Numerous 'groups' are posted that would lead you to believe therapy was taking place but it's a farce. There are a few staff members that seem to be there for the right reasons and out of frustration they will disclose other staff has instructed them to treat the patients poorly, or not at all. The caring staff (who are few and far between) seem to be mortified by the lack of actual therapy/help. This facility is meant for one thing and one thing only; experiment with meds. While there the amount of outbursts, dangerous situations and unrest with the residents were too numerous to count, most likely due to the lack of care +/- the lack of therapy. If you'd like your loved one to be comatose with medication, send them in. If you'd like actual therapy with a team, avoid this place at all costs. In my five days I spoke to a Dr twice and a social worker once. No therapists, not one; I'm not even sure there are any on staff. Luckily, after a court hearing, I was released. Essentially once you are there the only way to escape is through a court hearing. More beds full = more money. It makes perfect sense this is privately owned, if it were run by the state, it would've been shut down by now. Get help outside of here.
I was broken and in bed for almost a month suffering from debilitating depression and a broken heart before entering the CVBH facility. I was scared to ask for help and even more afraid when the admissions staff very… kindly and graciously opened their doors to me offering me a bed right away. I took the risk despite my fear of the unknown, and drove to Indio from desert Hot Springs and smoked 3 cigarettes before walking through the front door, even though i had quit smoking. That's how sacred I was!! And immediately my fears disappeared. The amazing Mark and Teresa were there to welcome me. They made me feel comfortable and "at home" within minutes. I am grateful to Heather and Felecia as well who answered the phone when I reached out for help. All the staff were impeccably kind, professional, empathetic, friendly, and gave me personalized attention whenever I needed it. And they did it with grace and dignity, even though oftentimes I'm sure they were on their last nerve having to deal with our many needs, wants and specific mental health issues.. In my mind they are all ROCKSTARS!!! I'm back home now after spending 6 days under their care and I feel refreshed and revived!! I got my MOJO back!! THEY gave me my MOJO BACK!! And I thought it was lost and buried forever. So I thank you all for the part each of you played in restoring me back to a stabilized mental health and might I even add some joy is back in my life. I actually want to get out of bed and embrace life again. And that is the most priceless gift anyone or any place can ever give you. I am forever grateful!! A special shout out to Niko, the best peer support specialist in the West! And to Nurse Jeriah! She went above and beyond to make sure all my needs were met and she never made me feel like I was burdening her!! But honestly all the staff were simply wonderful!! The creme of the crop in this industry because I have been around the block when it comes to my mental health, so I know and appreciate top quality care when I receive it. And unfortunately in the mental health industry it is rare to receive such personalized and compassionate care. I can't say enough about my amazing experience at CVBH, so if you're struggling I urge you to call them and take that leap of faith. You deserve it. You deserve to live the life of your dreams. Forget the stigma attached to mental illness. It is just as common and important to treat as is someone with a kidney condition or diabetes. The brain is just another organ in the body and needs medical attention sometimes. So go for it because you and your life are worth it. I wish all of you much love and many blessings along the way. Stay in the light.
This place was so kind and caring. Staff never judged me or talked down to me. I felt safe there. For was mid, but they try. I would totally recommend this place for someone or their loved one.
They don't answer the phone and my cousin was released with no medication after treatment. The nurses in the unit were nice and helped him .
The staff truly cares about their patients; the main issue is that they’re constantly rotated every day (morning shift and night shift), so there is inefficiency in them trying to catch up and figure out what their… coworkers from the previous shift left behind. Let the cafeteria know ahead of time if you have any dietary restrictions so that they can prepare an appropriate meal for you. Don’t be afraid to let the staff know if another patient is bothering you; you will be looked out for so long as you make them aware of your concerns. Karl the therapist is very helpful in teaching coping mechanisms and provides papers to have a solid reminder of what resources to draw upon for later. The nurses that I had the most positive experiences with were Tony, Evan and Oliver. I could talk to them about anything. Oh, and make sure to bring/request paperback books and a sweater. Reading helps pass the time much more easily, and the building is cold for cleanliness reasons. If you can’t acquire a sweater, you can request an extra pair of scrubs and socks to layer over your current outfit. Make sure to attend recreational therapy whenever you can; getting to go into the courtyard for sunlight, the gym (more like a basketball court) for some exercise, and especially the arts and craft room for coloring, drawing and origami helped keep me busy in a good way here.
Staff is amazing and friendly and informative.
Beautiful campus, friendly and caring staff that are passionate about helping those in crisis. This place is truly unique. If you are struggling or know someone that needs help, they offer free assessments to the… community.
This facility is terrible. They don't answer phonecalls from loved ones looking for you, the supposed nurses and doctors don't know medications and their classifications and kept trying to force me to take medication… that was really dangerous for me and could have sent me to the ER, the nurses have no idea on medication protocol and names, and advocating for yourself is written as disobedience. on top of that, there is nothing they give you for discharge paperwork to give to work, and they refuse to send notice to my workplace after asking for several days in a row. This place is a malpractice lawsuit waiting to happen, and if I had the resources for a lawyer, I'd sue them myself.
My time here at has been a pleasure to say the very least. I came in hoping for some very basic therapy and received much more that I could had hoped for. The facility is nice and clean, the rooms are very comfortable… and feet personal, the staff are very respectful and go above and beyond they call of duty to make the patients comfortable from morning wake up until evening bed call. The medical staff are a symphony when it comes to meeting patient goals. For example my therapist, Karl was very well versed on cognitive behavioral therapy and help me navigate some really core coping tools when I become overwhelmed by loneliness and grief. He went in depth on meditation skills and best sleeping practices for me, someone who has tried it all. We spoke in length about positive coping skills and best practices for my own treatment program. I would 100% recommend the staff, facility, and patient team here at Coachella Valley Behavioral Health for someone in need of some skills reset, mental health support therapy, or who need an overall experience of holistic/medicinal well being.
Hi I have been trying to contact you in order to receive a doctors note or something to prove to my job that I in fact was there. If anyone can offer some clarity on how to get a hold of these people, that would be… great.
If one of your loved ones ends up here, you can rest easy; they are safe and cared for in a positive, clean environment with brilliant professionals who truly care. I personally am so grateful to everyone who works… here. They are actually the best. Every member of the staff was so helpful and friendly and kind, they really care about every patient and it shows. i honestly wish i could go stay here for a couple days just to recharge my batteries from time to time (but let me keep my drip tho 😭). Thank you so much for taking care of me in my hour of darkness, you are all doing amazing work and i commend you and urge you to continue if you can. You may not realize how important you are, but i do, we do. I see each and every one of you and i think you're doing a fantastic job. Thank you ❤️ Cleanliness: 11/10 🫧🧽 very clean environment Staff: 10/10 🤜🏾🤛🏾 the homies frfr Food: 8.5/10💥(they do a really good job with what they have to work with) Facility: 8.8/10 🙂 is basically brand new and very nice Nurses: 25/10 🥵🔥sheeesh Drs: 10/10 🥼🩺 very bright, very kind, very patient and understanding; phenomenal, every one. Come to think of it, that hiring manager needs a raise - he's batting like Joltin' Joe DiMaggio.
This place was awesome and they really look after your needs and concerns. They listen to you. There are groups and 3 meals a day and snacks. The staff is amazing and professional. They make sure you are well taken care… of and they are always there if you just need to talk. Karl who runs groups he is a director I believe he is funny and he always looking out for you and checking in with you. Also the floor nurses are awesome.
Stay away from this behavioral facility! The amount of harm they caused is unforgivable. Instead of owning up to their deficiencies, they flat out lied and made up excuses for their rude, crass, smug psychiatrist. I… only dealt with front desk, a supervisor, and a psychiatrist. I can not speak about nurses and support staff. I am sure they are professional and treat vulnerable patients with dignity. The front desk is rude and try to belittle you by telling you to sit down or nothing will happen. They threatened to call the police because I raised my voice and wanted to speak to a supervisor after asking 3 times and them making up rules as they went. The ironic part, is when, she told me to lower my voice while she was yelling at me herself. The supervisor came out and seemed to understand the situation and care. Then she changed her tune as soon as we spoke to the psychiatrist. The lies and excuses couldn't come out of her mouth quick enough. They lied about not being able to reach out to the patients doctor for info on medication and history. After that lie was called out, they did not reach out to the doctor for info for 2 days. The psych got mad because the patient did not want to take medication that already made them sick from before. He told the patient to not tell him how to do his job and asked her to leave because he had other patients. He blamed the patient for that interaction and I had to remind him that there is a reason why the patient was 51/50'd. There are other issues, but you get the point. And by the way, this is my first ever written review and hopefully my last! If you notice, the owner only emails back the positive reviews. Please do not be afraid to start a conversation on how you can improve the well being of our friends and family in the Coachella Valley. Your facility is a great thought but with terrible execution. Please get better.
