Not really liking this clinic. My primary care, Dr Sharon Maxwell is not helpful. I have bad neuropathy in my lower legs and feet and I also had a stroke March 22, 2025. I have not received any after care or therapy. I… sometimes get dizzy and stumble or fall so I asked her if she would sign the paper so I could get a placard to park in a handicapped spot. Her exact words were, I do not just randomly sign the paperwork to get a placard, I think walking is your best therapy. I worked 20 years for the GI Bill call center and with no therapy to try to get better and have a better quality of life, this caused me to have to retire in Nov 2025. I moved here from Muskogee, Oklahoma and the quality of care I got from Muskogee Oklahoma compared to this place is on a complete different planet. I also had to go to the ER 2 weeks ago and the civilian Dr's were phenomenal...they prescribed new medication because the medication the VA prescribed was extremely hard on my liver and I had to have 5 1/2 liters drained from my abdomen. So I took my list of new meds and gave them to a nurse on another team since Dr Maxwell had taken off a few weeks (I totally get having to take leave) but it has been over 2 weeks and I have ran out of my new medications (which is helping a lot) and I have not heard anything about any refills on the new meds and the new meds are not on MyHealthEVet so I can order them. I did however ask about my prescription for my cane and she walked me to the PT department, was seen and with my issues, she said I needed a walker. So I got my walker which is helping my stability. The PT department was very helpful. With working for the VA at the GI Bill call center I talked to roughly 80-115 vets a day. I heard them complain about different VA hospitals and clinics. I always hated hearing these horrible stories and as a retired veteran myself I apologized profusely since it is supposed to be "One VA" but I never understood all the bashing because I personally never experienced it at the VA hospital in Muskogee...but moving here in June of 2024, I totally see why so many veterans complain. I get it now since I am actually living it myself. I know there will be differences and each place will have its quirk's...but this is ridiculous. I want nothing more for our veterans and myself than what we deserve. If I don't deserve it or qualify for it then I don't want it, but I do expect our veterans and myself to get what we qualify for! Come on VA healthcare and the Poydasheff clinic...do better for our veterans, we deserve quality care and people who care and will follow through! I have applied to transfer to the VA clinic on Ft Benning...so, we will see.
Very clean and friendly people. So glad to have this place so close to the house and not have to drive hours to go to the VA.
Nurses here had no bed side manners and truly make you feel like shit. No care at this clinic.
Great directions
Always welcome Veterans inand help us get to where we need to be.
They do not have the ability to file for beneficiary travel. There is no sign for Podiatry but it is in there
Great and surprising experience this morning. Took my dad to get his VA ID renewed and then learned so much more about benefits for him and myself. Farah was so personal and informative. Made this visit much more than… routine. Thank you from a veteran Dad and Son.
Always working for our veterans, this is truly a place where they are cared for. We appreciate every worker in the building, even security! 🇺🇸🤝 #Veterans #Support #Gratitude
The very worst experience ever. I had turned in some paperwork. On June 29 2026 for this sorry no English Dr. A. To tell me 2 an half almost 3 weeks later sayin he is not goin to sign my paperwork. They, are very… unprofessional about gettin in contact with anyone. He need to go back where he come from. Dr. A. Is not a good mental health care provider. Yall, need to put him in the back of bus for bein a no good for nothin Dr. A. That don't listen to patients. He makes all Mental Health Care Providers look very bad. I would recommend him to nobody.
My experience with the Robert S. Poydasheff VA Clinic has been extremely disappointing. When a primary care appointment is canceled, getting it rescheduled can take months, which is unacceptable for veterans who rely on… timely medical care. I've also been waiting over two weeks for a response from my primary care provider, Dr. Maxwell, and I still haven't heard back despite trying to get in touch. The lack of communication has been incredibly frustrating. While I can't speak for every provider at this clinic, my personal experience has been one of poor communication, long delays, and a lack of urgency when it comes to veterans' healthcare needs. It often feels like patients are being overlooked rather than cared for. I sincerely hope the clinic improves its responsiveness, scheduling process, and communication because veterans deserve better than this.
It's Absolutely useless to schedule an appointment because when the provider feels like it they can cancel anytime no priorities or dedication towards helping veterans whatso ever. This is the 7th appointment I have… patiently waited for weeks to months just to have a clinician cancel on me last minute. Horrible establishment!!!!
Horrible.. as in horrible service imagine waiting in a lobby for 2 1/2 hours just to change your VA facility… Several workers went and checked on the only person doing that job she wasn’t even in the office… When she… finally came back to the office. I had stepped out 30 feet to have a cigarette and she would not see me and went to the next person if there is or was an next person… No fuse raised no yelling no cussing no nothing just should I come back tomorrow in an honest question should I come back tomorrow? No no no no she’ll see you and here and there. I set for another 30 minutes and a cop actually approached me now. No raised voices. No fussing .. no nothing. I just want everybody to be safe? You know if the employees at the veterans administration feel unsafe because they don’t want to show up to work or hide and don’t do their jobs. That’s not the other people’s or the you know clients this world is really upside down. You’re afraid of VA people or use that as a cover or shield to hide that you aren’t in your office in your slacking around… What kind of administrator is in charge of that place seriously terrible service…
Went there for blood work. It was fast, I was out in about 30 minutes. I could tell the male phlebotomist has been doing this awhile and I didn't even feel a stick
Nice to see lines don't work properly help the black guy first I had been standing here for about 5 minutes he walks up and gets helped. I walked up she walked away to Bs with her coworker dude walks up she drops… everything to help him
Clean facilities with great people!
When needing to visit the Optical Shop, you will need to check in at the "checkout" windows in the main lobby area. Then wait outside the optical shop for your name to be called. Also after any appointment, please be… sure to stop by the "Check out" windows. They want to be sure you are aware of any future visits needed.
My hearing aides are once again not working. My hearing is practically nonexistent without them. My hearing was damaged in the war. I suffered major hearing loss. The VA is suppose to support my hearing issues. I had an… appointment with the audiologist. It took 2 months to get the appointment. The audiologist was rude and interrupted me when trying to explain the issue. She then has me sit back out in the lobby while she supposedly fixed my hearing aides. She then calls me back and hands me the hearing aides. Well they are still having the same issue as before and not working and now I am told that I would need to schedule another appointment and it will be months before I can be seen again. Can someone assist me with this issue. I cannot hear without these and I have a job that requires the ability to hear. I cannot wait another 2 months.
The Robert S. Poydasheff VA Clinic in Columbus, Georgia, is an impressive facility. The building is modern, clean, well-designed, and ideally located to serve veterans in the area. The layout is excellent, and from a… purely physical standpoint, it's exactly what a community clinic should be. Unfortunately, a beautiful facility does not automatically translate into quality healthcare. I've been assigned to this clinic for approximately two years, and during that time I have only physically seen my primary care provider twice. While telehealth and telemedicine certainly have their place, they should be used based on individual patient needs—not as the default method of care for nearly every interaction, especially for newer patients who need to establish a relationship with their provider. What concerns me most is that much of the care I've received only happened because I pushed for it. I had to advocate for myself to get referrals submitted and approved for conditions that required additional evaluation and treatment. Veterans should not have to navigate the system on their own or fight to receive appropriate care. I understand that providers retire, transfer, and face personal emergencies. Life happens. However, staffing changes should not result in reduced access to healthcare or diminished continuity of care. A healthcare system should be prepared to handle transitions while maintaining quality service for its patients. Another issue has been appointment cancellations. In the past, when appointments were missed or canceled, providers often personally reached out to explain the situation and ensure continuity of care. That level of communication and accountability appears to have declined, leaving patients with more questions than answers. I genuinely wanted this clinic to work because the facility itself is outstanding. However, healthcare is about more than buildings and floor plans. It is about access, communication, continuity, and receiving the care veterans have earned. At this point, I have decided to seek care elsewhere until meaningful improvements are made in the delivery of healthcare services. Veterans deserve more than a nice building—they deserve reliable, accessible medical care. Steel Medic 7
My friend another disabled veteran 100% went here for treatment they refuse to treat him and send him home where he later died two days later. I reported this clinic to the officer of inspector general for VA. I also… have had issues with my primary care physician here I had to call the VA hotline at the White House and they assign me a primary care physician That's not a VA doctor so I could get proper care. This is the worst excuse for a hospital or clinic I have ever attended and as a veteran it should be closed down permanently for the pathetic treatment of our veterans including myself. VA will approve for you to have a primary physician outside of the clinics where you can get real help and timely help. Do not go here
Beautiful new building.
This place is amazing, the staff here are so polite and barely had to wait to get a new i.d. card. I also was able to order my records straight from a kiosk in main lobby. Special shout to Mr. Cowan and especially Ms.… Dewsburry in the i.d. card area for help and explanation of benefits. Model employee.
Nice facility, extremely helpful staff. Building is well maintained and staffed.
Always a great staff, very helpful and friendly.
