Exceptional experience! Cheryl, the owner, was really professional, compassionate, and truly dedicated to providing great care. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and comfortable. I highly recommend Plainwell… Counseling Center to anyone seeking support.
I share the other's feelings that this place was not very professional or responsive when I tried to contact them. But, I eventually did, and was seeing Cheryl for almost I year, I believe, regarding relationship issues… with a 9yr off and on girlfriend. Cheryl seemed nice and we got along well, but I started to notice it got too friendly where she spent a lot of time complaining to ME about her husband and it was just a bit too flirty. I didn't mind it much and it wasn't the end or the world, so I continued. But then I noticed it seemed she had a one size fits all approach to her clients. Whatever book or method she was into at that moment, was the direction she was guiding people. It seemed lazy and ineffective. But it all culminated in the most unprofessional single interaction I have ever had with a counselor. She disagreed with my political stance during a session and started to antagonize me about it. Disagreeing is one thing, but this was totally unrelated to my issues at hand, and I have never seen a counselor aggressively bait and escalate a conversation. It was bizarre. I asked her to stop, but she continued to poke until I told her I would leave if she didn't stop. She instead doubled down and kept on poking that my stance on the deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good was indicative of the source of my issues in my relationships......it was ridiculous. I walked out and never went back.
Impossible to get ahold of and once they did I never heard from them again.
I highly recommend to not choose this place. Tried on two occasions to make an appt. Was told someone would call me back. After two weeks of not hearing back, I just assume they are not accepting new clients. Shoddy way… to do business. Thank you for nothing.
