Able House RRi – New York Address, Location and Contact Information

The facility address is 168 East 107th Street, New York, New York, 10029. New York County covers this area. The site also serves the surrounding area, and anyone traveling in should confirm the route before setting out. How someone gets there matters more than it sounds: travel is one of the commonest reasons a course of treatment stops partway.

I went to A.B.L.E house in 2013 and it is one decision that absolutely saved my life. I have such fond memories of this place and it really did teach me tons of skills to help me combat the disease of addiction. I am… super confused by some of the low reviews because it's literally the exact opposite of my experience. They help you with daily groups, go to NA/AA meetings every day (some even hosted at the house), one on one counseling, job training, obtaining a GED, and even housing for after you leave. Two of my friends literally left there with apartments. They also teach you discipline and having daily chores. They feed you and house you. Honestly, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, this place was a god send to me. I honestly couldn't believe my eyes when I was reading two bad reviews, one even mentioning that they don't help you at all. Unless a ton has changed since 2013 (which is possible), that could not be further from my experience. I honestly can't think of anything this place didn't do for me and unless it has massively changed, I would take those reviews with a massive grain of salt. There was a guy that brought donuts every week for us because he was so grateful for the place, having attended years prior. No one is going to do that unless they had a life changing experience. Like anything else, it works if you work it. Also, Smiley is amazing. I have no idea if she still works there but she was so good at her job while being extremely down to earth. So yeah, over ten years later and I'm doing great. When I look back at the things that actually helped change me, A.B.L.E house is #1 on that list. That's why in writing this review because I am so grateful for this place and I hope that nothing has changed.

I can only share my experiences from me being a graduate of Able House... I have great memories there with others like John Crosby, Denice Rutledge, Tammie Appleton ... The problem is that it's hard to find other… graduates from there... If you know me look me up on FB

It is difficult to give this place even 1 star, it deserves nothing. There is no recovery here, no life skills, no encouragement. It is nothing more than a prison, giving such bad care the only way one can actually… survive is by living for an act of revenge. The director is drop dead mean, with little to no life skills. There is a Miss C... a laughable "counselor" that especially needs to be avoided. The woman has questionable acredation, whose entire counseling approach is nothing more a cruel focus on rules minus any ethics to actually do something worthwhile. There is some redemption here in a streetwise house manager nicknamed "Smiley" who seems sincere in her want to actually be of help, but in this horror show she has a real uphill battle.
