Sorry, my honesty since I kept it secret for years. DePaul program and Bob, the GCMH supervisor failed me over interpreter issues. It led me suicidal attempted there after I moved to Rochester. I was not happy with… DePaul and Bob which was stressful. I don't blame the nice therapist who was patient with me. Blame on her jerk supervisor for being disrespectful. I am tell DePaul is abused organization that I dealt with and lied to me about Rochester apt having mental health which I didn't know. It caused me sucidual attempted after I learned. Glad I leave NY to new state and a new life and peace of mind. Zero suicidal thoughts and crises for a year. I feel better to leave awful DePaul. I never want Rochester. DePaul ruined my career in Buffalo over stressful by DePaul and therapist sessions. Bob is dating an awful director, Michelle M from DePaul. Both have the same behavior and discrimination against me as a Deaf client. None care and support what mental health needs! Shame on you!
My counselor was great and so was the psychiatrist I saw. Due to unforeseen circumstances I wasn’t able to attend 2 follow ups I had scheduled due to being short staffed at work. When I called to get a refill the nurse… informed that because of that they wouldn’t refill my anxiety medication and said “a lot of people work and still make their appointments” she made me feel like a horrible person AND caused me a large amount of anxiety. My meditation was out in 3 days and they can’t get me in for 2 MONTHS. Very disappointed in the lack of empathy from a MENTAL HEALTH NURSE.
My therapist and nurse are the best. They always have my back and are there when I need it, I've had them for years now and I couldn't ask for a better team! They are very encouraging and clearly care about my journey… when it comes to my mental health and seeing me grow The biggest gripe is the medication side. I've had probably more than five different doctors since I've been going to mental health, and it's been exhausting having to start from the ground up every time with them. It's very hit or miss. My nurse is the only consistency I've had which I'm very grateful for!
They are an uncareing unreal businness, more like gennesse county mental destory your health. I was depressed and because i self harmed they took away my therpest. Why would you take away a persons therpest in a time of… crisis, they should be provide more help not abandoning me tottaly and leaving me with zero supports. They also caused me to go through ssri withdrawal through abandonment of care.
Winter blues? Go see Kate Hawks and Amanda Lewis for prompt, accurate, courteous help.
my current counselor is amazing but it took several counselors to get one that stuck. the staff don't want to work here and leave as soon as they can. the psychiatrists leave in the middle of adjusting medications and… leave you scrambling because they have no one else besides the two main doctors that are awful. go literally anywhere else. i'm suicidal again due to this medication and doctor stress when i was fine before.
I like my therapist. But the psychiatrist isn't the best. She only prescribes depression medication Even If you're diagnosed with other issues that you're still having problems with. And I know I'm not the only one… having issues with this because everyone else who goes to this office has the same issue. She's been the problem there for years doing that when they've done nothing. Also when calling I was on hold for a while so my phone was muted and before I could even turn on my mic to talk they hung up.
honestly, love my counselor. but trying to get my meds has been a nightmare. I'm actually more stressed and more suicidal then I was before coming here. my script was due 3 days ago and since my doctor left I had to… weight till monday.. mad but whatever. did my appointment she said it would be sent in and now it's 4pm and I find out it can't be filled till tomorrow. didn't tell me earlier. every nurse I have talked to has been nothing but mean and cruel. now my family Dr won't take my scripts back. so I'm feeling extremely helpless. like I give up. now fourth day and now I'm in the hospital. really go anywhere else but here.. and avoid a nurse named Trisha.
My counselor is amazing.....but everything else about this place is terrible....the doctors don't stick around and the system is very disorganized. Would NOT recommend..... if you have other options take one of them.
Getting your medication is consistently an issue. The vast majority of the staff are uncaring and highly incompetent. They can't keep a psychiatrist on staff...there's a different one on staff every few months.
My therapist repeatedly tried to make me believe in god and then quit because of vaccine mandates
This genesee county mental health is a complete joke………..refusing to see you unless it’s a crisis. So I guess depression severe anxiety and stress isn’t enough…….
Given that Genesee County Mental Health is mainly focused on triage for individuals with acute mental problems such as suicidal ideation. They have some amazing therapists there that are willing to go above and beyond… their job description to help you as much as possible.
My therapist has been great and helps tremendously. The issue I'm having is getting my meds. Taking meds for the first time in 17 years. It took almost a month to get a prior authorization form filled out my insurance… requested. After contacting my pharmacy several times to see what's going on I decided to contact them myself. They told me the pharmacy never contacted them and after explaining they sent over a request form twice they changed their answer to it was sent to their "other" folder. When the form was finally filled out they didn't notify my pharmacy the form was done and my prescription expired by the time. My pharmacy sent over a new script request to Genesee mental health and they sent over a higher dosage than before. I did not have a discussion about changing the dosage. Now waiting to see how long it will take them to send over the RIGHT dosage to my pharmacy.
Frist 2 appointments after an intake we are still treatment planning. At my 3rd appointment I needed so start talk theapy. I enede up walking out after 15mins. They question everything. why I'm takeing the meds I take.… I have been dealing with mental health issues for 10+ years. I'm not a child I'm a 30yr female. What a joke and waste of time. 1.5yr years later I went to 2 or 3 other places in the meantime went to my appointments as scheduled here and would not let me see a provider for an crisis appointment. I was begging for thier help. If I could give them zero stars I would.
my therapist has helped my mental health greatly and they provide me with very clear treatment plans and goals. I'm very happy to have found this resource.
