The register shows Meadows Psychiatric Center – Center Hall providing residential treatment. Anyone unsure which level fits should ask for an assessment rather than choosing from a list, since placement criteria exist precisely to make that judgement.

Meadows Psychiatric Center – Center Hall Address, Location and Contact Information

The facility address is 132 The Meadows Drive, Center Hall, Pennsylvania, 16828. Center Hall sits in Center County. People travel in from the surrounding area, and confirming the route beforehand saves difficulty. Journey time and parking are not trivial details when treatment runs several times a week over months.

The communication is off. My daughter spent some time there. An incident occurred and I didn’t get ANY information for 3 days. I called EVERYDAY left messages from bottom of the chain to the top and got nothing until 3… days later. The worst worry ever.

Been trying to reach someone about my relative. Left messages the last 2 days and nobody has the decency to return my call. Reception or whoever answers the phones couldnt or wouldn't answer my questions.

If I could leave a no star review I would! My 7yr old was there for help and not even a week later he had been injured and we weren’t informed! I had to hear from him on the phone about it and the staff weren’t going to… let us know about it until my son made them talk to us. This place isn’t worth it for the youth! The older kids are down right rude to the younger kids there! I get it they have issues too but the staff need to keep up with making sure all the patients are safe and not let any form of bullying happen! I’m beyond sick of how my son was treated at this facility!!!!

My child was sent here in crisis. While sitting in crisis center a family told us how horrible it was and bot to send our daughter there. Leaving my child was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life, HOWEVER… I will never say a bad thing about the meadows. They helped my daughter more than I could have ever imagined. She was able to call us every single night, and the communication between myself and her case manager Whitney was nothing any of amazing. Whitney made sure I knew every single detail about her every day, made sure I was updated on things going on with her. The only thing I could say could improve a bit would be being able to reach someone on the unit. Myself and several fanily members tried to get in contact with the unit for updates on her and never received a call back in the 6 days she was there. Other than that I do not have a single complaint.

It was okay. It was a safe place to try and get my head straight but it was lacking in the therapy department. There were only two groups a day (and back to back not spread out) and no individual therapy whatsoever.… Staff never told patients when someone called for them. Food was okay for the most part and the doctors were okay when I did see them, I just didn't see them as often as I have in other inpatient places. There wasn't much to do other than color and watch TV but maybe that's what I needed idk

There is some staff that are friendly and care about you, some are rude and mouthy shouldnt be there , that wont help our mental health. Foods everyday was gross .. it was like eating food that's been preheated alot and… soggy noodles... the snacks where the only goodthing. Its very dirty in the recreation room, they try saying they clean it when we go to bed no they dont.. the tables are dirty all the time and food on the floor. It really isnt much help , if you want to talk to someone they are always busy... the paper u do says whats the treatment plan and how are u working on it.. while you really dont know much because they dont work with you with stuff ... some people hog the phone also you would think adults would know how to share.... the beds suck , my back hurts bad.. you get a assault or into trouble if u defend yourself if some comes after you , I have seen.. this place needs big changes!!!but over all I ment cool people and laughed and smiled alot, that was pretty much about it.

I was placed here in april of last year and there was someone sexually harassing and sexually assualting girls and boys while my two roomates and I were his main targets. We went to the staff about it and they ended up… putting his room right next to ours, they didnt even do a thing about it. The heads of the meadows didnt even do anything to help the people struggling in there, instead they were extremely rude and treated us as if we were insane and things. The doctors in there that we had to talk to were extremely rude and insensitive, they would make us feel so guilty about ourselves and if they knew about any family issues they knew exactly how to hit a nerve and make you feel like its all your fault. Throughout your stay it is extremely rare to see a therapist.

The Meadows is not bad but neither is it amazing I stayed for 6 days in February and had no hot water the whole time I was there they put a 12 year old on my unit when it was 13-17 and she was not mature enough to be in… that unit especially with how she reacted. Most staff were nice especially Felicity but others were just plain rude we played games and had fun but there really was no help there I didn't even get to meet my therapist and when I was hurting myself in there they made no attempt to stop me.

Disgraceful facility. No one should take themselves here or have their family taken here. Impossible to communicate, rude staff and what seems to be a real lack of care for the patient. Avoid this place.

the staff member Tina is a Diva and deserves a raise. The staff were usually pretty nice, the food was a hit or a miss, though I will make a complaint. I was put in a bedroom with two seventeen year olds while I was… twelve years old. In the state of Pennsylvania it is a federal offense and nothing was done about it until I told a staff member about it. The charge nurse approved it knowing I was 12 and they were 17

I was inpatient for 5 days. All of the staff in my unit were helpful and kind. Not just with task but with the overall process and day to day procedures. Most of the staff I encountered have been working there for… years; they know what they are doing and what they are dealing with. The food was actually good. They offer plenty of options and alternatives! They also accommodate to special diets i.e dairy free, vegetarian, religious etc.. The staff actually eats the food! Which to me, was a good sign! There were multiple issues during my stay that required room rearrangement/alternative placement due to safety concerns involving patients and/or staff; one involving myself. Arrangements were made quickly and solutions were implemented immediately to ensure patient and staff safety. I was pleased with how my situation was handled by staff and felt safe. There was an intern who lead some very informative groups!! The activities person was great. As a former head housekeeper for a Marriott hotel I was extremely pleased with the cleaning lady. She overheard me talking about the greasy hand printed windows and she cleaned them for us! We were watching the squirrels. It smelled clean when she was there. Cons- My unit Delta had a broken set of washer/dryer leaving only one function set of machines for 20+ adults. Most people only have 1 or two sets of clothing. They had very limited communal clothing so many people wore hospital gowns while their clothing was in laundry. Many patients complained about the shower water not being hot or taking up to 20 minutes to get warm… I ended up not showering the whole 5 days I was inpatient except at the sink because of this. My unit was only allowed markers and crayons to write with. The supply was pretty low when I got there. They had a locked box, which the patient advocate opened, I requested new markers and someone brought out new markers to the activity room the same day. Not sure if it was because of my note or if a staff member just noticed the marker supply was low but either way that’s great and was a quickly met request. They provide notebooks for patients and encourage journaling which helps pass the time. My biggest issue was the floors! Although they were cleaned everyday, they were dry mopped and then swifter wet jet type mopped. That works well to maintain an already clean floor but not as the main way of cleaning an already filthy floor. Shoes with laces are not allowed meaning almost everyone is walking around in socks, some people barefoot, on FILTHY FLOORS. Yuck. The floors were so sticky you could hear the techs walking from all the way down the hall. The floors are due for a proper mop or professional cleaning service which would include moving the tables and chairs in the dining room and activity room. When I brought the floors up to a nurse she stated that the floors are also bad in their back offices. Which I was actually glad to hear because that meant it wasn’t only being done that way in patient areas but overall on all the floors. The dining room smelled awful not from the food but from the floors. I was told the dining room was down 1 table. Each table sat 4 people. Meaning there wasn’t enough seating in the dining room for all the patients in the unit. I received a phone call while I was in, and a phone message got to me as well. Meaning my family who knew I was there was able to get through and talk to me. There is limited time allotted for calls but exceptions were allowed if needed. Overall I would recommend this facility. The food choices were good with plenty of options. All the staff were helpful and knew what they were doing. I was able to make and receive calls. I was already connected with a therapist, case worker and psychiatrist prior to my admission; staff arranged appointments with them before my discharge. If you don’t have those services they help you arrange them before your departure for success upon discharge. If you have someone to pick you up and don’t have to wait for transportation you get discharged quicker.

So far this place has gone above and beyond for my child. I only speak during visits but he calls his dad during the night. His therapist regularly calls me and updates me on his improvements. The staff is very nice.… But when you take you child things the reception dont seem to give the kids there belonging. I hope he does eventually get the things we bring him and when he does ill post about it!! So I do not know why there are so many crappie reviews cause its been a week so far and they have been 100% the best i couldn't of asked for a better place for him!!! And they do separate boys and girls and the "house",I call them are done in age groups and what sex they are!

Staff was great but they prescribed me a medication that is known for giving dangerous hives, I got them. They told me none of the side effects of any of the four meds they put me on. Absolute gross negligence that… might see me end up in the hospital. Facility also needs updating badly.
