Community Guidance Center – Indiana Reviews and Ratings
Families searching for treatment in Indiana often start with reviews. If you were a patient at Community Guidance Center, or supported one, sharing how it went gives them something real to go on.
They will literally make you jump through hoops to stay on your meds, with the alternative being discharge and horrible med withdrawals while waiting for your next psych appointment. I have to sit in their partial… hospitalization program and "get better" as a queer female with trauma by listening to a male in the group rant about how "trendy" being gay became in 2016 now everyone is gay (been this way since the 80s) and he is making a chastity belt for his daughter but not his sons. Yeah, this is super helpful im so happy I spent my birthday being triggered at the CGC at Partial instead of outpatient. Thanks so much for NOT LISTENING dr hauber
As you can see from their 2 star rating, this place is pretty terrible. Hockner is rude and condescending. He doesn’t care about the patients. This place is run like a circus. Hopefully they shut down soon
EDIT: Leaving my original review below for transparency, but lowering my rating from two stars to one star due to recent events. I've been going here for about ten years. For seven or so of those, things were great - my… therapist was absolutely incredible and my psychiatrist was pretty great. Fast forward to late 2020, my therapist left with very little warning - I don't blame her at all, don't get me wrong - and the CGC struggled for months to assign me a new therapist. Now they're apparently down to 3 or 4 and the few that remain are completely booked for 6 weeks or more, which is utterly unacceptable. Next up, I needed to change antidepressants about two months ago. No big deal, made the switch, followed my PA's tapering instructions to the letter...and went through horrible withdrawals. Like, imagine the worst flu you've ever had, and now multiply that by 5. Add depression and anxiety to that and, well, you get the picture. I wouldn't be so upset had I been at all warned about the withdrawals. When the withdrawal symptoms got so bad that I couldn't eat, sleep, or drag myself out of bed (among other issues I'll spare you from), I called the CGC. I was transferred to the med clinic, and they told me there was nothing they could do until they talked to my PA. Alright, how long can that take, maybe a few hours? Fast forward a few days. I haven't heard a word. Call again, same story. Well, can my PA just give me a call? "We'll pass the message along." Fast forward another week - are you seeing a pattern yet? I was miserable and felt like I was going to die. I gave in and went to the ER - should have done that in the first place. By the by, it's been about a month now, and I still haven't heard from my PA.
Loses and thus currently does not have a doctor ( psychiatrist) and then cancels my relatives very important shots and have not provided a plan to make sure they have continuity of care- the center should provide… alternatives, like names and contact info of other psychiatrists ( or psychiatric nurse practitioners) relatively close and who take their insurance. This is a failure of huge implications for the populations they serve and puts patients at risk. How can this even be possible.
The Community Guidance Center in Indiana Pennsylvania is terminating my live-in caregivers care because he can't leave me for 3 hours 5 days a week. When we tried explaining Why this was the case. They completely… ignored his request for additional therapy in exchange for their partial impatient program. I have cerepropro pulsey, i am legally blind and mostly wheelchair bound. If my caregiver were to do their partial impatient program, I would have to go with him
Discontinued my services due to not being able to do they're partial program because of my job as a live in home aid they need 15 hours a week for this program and I work mon-fri 9 am to 6 45 pm it is not possible to… work around my schedule
Violated HIPAA by sending my child's information (including their name, address, and school district) to another consumer. They did very little to actually remedy my situation other than offering to mail the letter… again. I've been at this company for almost 10 years and it's an absolute nightmare now. Please contact literally any other mental health service in the county, not the guidance center.
To Google Maps: This location keeps coming up in the wrong location for the Health Ride Transportation drivers! But aside from that,.. this place seems very decent and helpful on a multitude of levels!
If you’re looking to get into somewhere fast don’t go here, Called them on a Thursday, I missed their call the next day and called them back, it’s been almost two weeks and no one has reached out to me
They constantly cancel my appointment double schedule and the therapist I have there has a judgmental look with every thing and she gives me information about other patients etc.
They have been claiming I missed several appointments which is complete bs I never once missed a appointment they haven’t been helping me at all and they want me to go back by my self and not with my dad I’m not ok with… it never again
I brought my child into this place on July 26 2024 for an intake review. It is now 7 weeks later and child has yet to see a counselor. The CGC has canceled EVERY SINGLE APPOINTMENT! EVERY ONE OF THEM! and each time they… had a different reason. I called my insurance and let them know! I encourage everyone else who has had a similar experience to do the same!
Literally go anywhere else.
Does not respond to voicemails.
This place is terrible. Everything i would call to schedule an appointment with my therapist, I was told that she schedules herself and I would never hear anything back. The doctor would just up my meds when I never… even asked him to in the first place. Plus he was only available twice a week. They would cancel appointments and reschedule with out even talking to me first. Than they dropped me, when I asked why no one gave me an answer. They claimed they sent me a letter in the mail that I never even got. I would never recommend anybody go here.
I have had a great experience with CGC. I have been able to get an Autism diagnosis and the therapy I have needed for so long. I would recommend CGC to anyone looking for professional providers!
HORRIBLE place. They would not give my daughter her monthly shot that she needs unless she did a “intensive program “ which I put her in. Then I found out about 2 months later for every day she was required to go I had… to pay a copay of 20$. They told her she had to come everyday. I owed over 450$ for nothing. Then I asked to get FMLA paperwork filled out and they lied to me and said they sent the paperwork to my work. They sent blank forms. I had to keep asking for them to fill the papers out, they kept pushing the paperwork to other departments and finally Donna who is absolutely rude and dishonest said they don’t fill those out, she gaslighted me by saying I told you we don’t fill those out already. If she in fact had told me that I wouldn’t have been pushing so hard to get it done. They strung me around for 2 months meanwhile racking up copays that was unaware of and I had asked before hand if I would owe anything and they said no it’s covered by my insurance. If you don’t have mental issues, just dealing with those people will create them. HORRIBlE.
If I could give negative stars I would. I was excited to start with these people after the wonderful phone conversation I had when I set up the appointment. Today was my first appointment. I was running a little late so… I called to let them know. I never spoke to a real person and it took me 4 minutes just to get through voice mail hell to leave a message. I know because I was watching the call length displayed on my screen. I arrived 15 minutes late to find a deserted office. No patients, no one in the office. I wait another 5 minutes at the window when I hear a toilet flush and someone come out. I told her I tried to call but no one answered the phone and I had to wade thru voice mail hell. Her reply was they were so busy she just had a chance to go to the bathroom. I see NO ONE. Busy with what? Took my money, info and told me to wait. Finally someone comes out to call me name. AND to tell me I’m 25 minutes late and now they have to reschedule me. I was not 25 minutes late. I was 15 and tried to notify someone. I had enough. I got up to walk out without saying a word and was assaulted with a barrage of sarcastic comments. “Oh if that’s the way you’re going to be goodbye and have a nice day. Thanks for coming “. Then I spoke. Told her to try answering her phone once in a while. She started back at me with how she gets right back to people…blah blah blah. I can’t even tell you what she said because I was so mad I couldn’t here. Run, don’t walk away from these people. This is a MENTAL HEALTH FACILITY and they choose to verbally abuse people. Sad reflection on the health industry in general. My next call is to my insurance agency to strongly recommend they drop these people.
Great Cousling for kids or adults.
Absolutely horrible ALPHA program experience. Do not send your kids there, please, for the love of god.
Absolutely atrocious just no
I wish I could give this place 0 stars. My fiancé tried for weeks to get signed up for court orders classes. Never got anything but voicemails and no returned calls. Finally, after leaving a voicemail with a supervisor,… got a call back from intake which was another week long run around to finally get “signed up” which just meant taking his money. He never got his packet in the mail to tell him what to do or how to do it. Then after several more calls he finally got an email saying he was signed up for the class that was happening in hours. He would have needed more notice to ask to take off early from work. Bottom line I just hope if you are ever forced to deal with these people you have more luck than he did but I doubt you will.
