Red Oak Counseling Ltd – Elm Grove

Was once a very good place. My son's therapist left; no one informed us, and now no one returns messages (no one answers the phone, either) so we are left with no information.

I enjoyed going to a specialized Group here so much that when It ended because of covid, I asked to be contacted when things resumed. To make a long story short, I have reached out at least three times since before… September and every time I was told that they will email me paperwork so I can get the process going to re-join the group therapy and that the receptionist will talk to Leslie (who made it clear to me I am always welcome to join) about a beginning date. I never received the paperwork so I called and explained this to the receptionist and she said she would re-send it and if she didn’t hear from me she would have the daytime receptionist call to follow up. That never happened. My therapist has also tried and been unsuccessful. This experience is a shame because the DBT group is a treatment I need tremendously and Leslie and I had a good therapeutic relationship. I don’t recommend Red Oak after this experience and It hurts my heart to leave this review.

The staff at Red Oak are phenomenal they always welcome me with a smile. My first interaction with Alex is the reason I will never stop coming to Red Oak. She cares about her clients and is invested in making sure they… are ready for the world every time you leave her office. If I could rate higher than five stars I would!

Did a couple session with Meredith. She is very kind and a great listener, but not effective as therapist at all!!! She is great at active listened, but beyond that she is not skilled. She did not help me at all!!!

Used to go here until my provider left this company. My provider is great and I continue to see that provider. The Red Oak staff were wonderful. I went to the adult eating disorder groups for a while which was very… helpful. The administrative staff were also very kind and helpful. They are very supportive.

Whatever you do don't get Tom Marx. He wasted half of my time arguing about my cannabis use which was not why I enrolled in counseling making it impossible for me to build a trusting relationship which is needed to… confide some of the trauma I'd been through and then when I wanted to get a different counselor they only would make AODA counselors available which is not why I'm seeking counseling. To be a mental health care provider discriminating against a patient with a mental health disorder is contradictory to your entire purpose. It's no surprise you've gone from a 4.6 star google rating to a 3.9 within a year or so.

Among the worst therapy I’ve received. Two therapist simply ghosted me. Most recently the therapist sits, arms & legs crossed, lips pursed spouting “ok” after everything I express. Literally every single thing. I asked… for input, advise, observations, more than ‘ok’. ‘Ok so you want advice?’ Um, what’s the point of therapy? Ive wasted my money at Red Oak. I feel worse off not helped.

Just a waste of time trying to get someone to see my daughter.

If I could give less than a 1 star, I would. Lack of services, delayed communication between therapists for appropriate therapy which delayed care. overall, horrible experience. Not at all impressed

Red Oak counseling is more concerned about profits than they are about their clients. They drop clients as soon as a client can’t afford the cost, no chance at getting on a sliding scale or payment plan and no cares… about whether the client has a new therapist lined up. They have plenty of money to buy out other companies, but not enough money to help out their clients? Several of the 5 star ratings are from Red Oak employees, that should tell you something.

My wife was seeing a counselor at red oaks and that counselor became her friend and that’s not professional. I’ve tried to talk with the manager a couple of times and never got a response.

I started seeing Meredith about 9 months ago. She helped me with a treatment plan and has been very helpful and my life is better as a result. I’ve also seen significant improvement in my teen daughter, who has been… seeing Leslie for about 7 months. Our relationship has blossomed since we have both been working on ourselves. The DBT parent group (which goes alongside the teen DBT group) was very educational and the group counselor, Lisa, did a great job teaching the skills. Overall, my experience has been life changing and I would highly recommend.

I’ve been seeing Sue now for some year’s truly appreciate this place and I will continue to recommend anyone else to it as well.

My teen was seeing a therapist at red oak. She seemed to get along great with her and as far as I knew I thought she liked going to see her. For some reason she missed three appointments and they sent me a letter… dropping her from the program. It would have been nice to get a phone call, email or letter ahead of discharging her. Instead when I called them was when the receptionist told me she missed three. I asked to speak to her therapist and she was going to leave a message for her to call me. I called several more times and the therapist would not return my call. Lack of communication from the therapist is very unprofessional.

Great counselors who genuinely care about individuals and their families. Highly recommend their services.

Not a good place to go. Billing is confused and they don't get back to you when they say they will The guy named Kendall is the worst counselor I have ever encountered. He was totally unprofessional, but hey they aren't… super expensive!

This is a great place and it has an amazing atomphere, but just be aware if you call off an appointment late; expect a $90 fee.

Great staff and service. I feel like I have a great hold on my life and a renewed confidence in myself.

After my last counselor decided to work in patient care at a hospital she recommended Red Oak. Although the counselor she recommened was not taking any new patients I was able to read about all the different counselor… who work at this location on their website and find a counselor that best suited the style of counseling I prefer. However, all the counselors are very welcoming and friendly! They also have a variety of support groups and other resources one might need. Even better, when I lost my insurance they have an intern who only charges you what you can afford. I paid only $10! I've been through many counseling establishments and I've got to say this is one of the best!

I have depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder, as well as an addiction history. I have gone through multiple therapists in my search for improving my mental health and living the best life I can. I went through a… program at Rogers Outpatient and was encouraged to research and give Red Oak Counseling a try. My therapist at the time was someone I respected and trusted his opinion of. He recommended Adam Barboff and I couldn’t have been happier with his recommendation. On my first session I felt comfortable with him and felt a strong rapport instantaneously. The most important thing is feeling comfortable with your therapist, otherwise no progress will be made. And I felt comfortable with Adam. If you’re looking for an excellent professional, or excellent staff, Red Oak Counseling is bar none the best I’ve experienced. In particular, I can speak for my experience with Adam, Jenny, and Kevin that they are all fantastic resources. To reiterate, do not stick around counseling that you don’t feel comfortable in. Red Oak Counseling and their staff are top notch.

Before I came to Red Oak Counseling, I had given up on therapists and therapy in general. I was convinced that I would never find someone that understood me and my struggles. It is so comforting having someone that… celebrates in my accomplishments and helps me through my struggles the way that Leslie does. Leslie has provided me with coping skills, encouragement, and endless support. The kindness from the office staff and the counselors is contagious and I never feel judged or looked down upon when I am here. It is one of my favorite places to be. I can not recommend Red Oak enough, and would give more than 5 stars if I could!

I absolutely loved the time I spent with Roxy, her and her whole staff are amazing. If you need to talk or figure thing's out they are the people to call. I wish I was still close enough to go see them. I'm in Texas… now. Love ya Roxy

I absolutely love my therapist, Meredith. i have had a few therapists in the past and she is my favorite one. She is very organized and follows a routine format for each sesion. I have made a lot of progress with my… anxiety and self confidence since seeing her. I feel like i trust her and can be open about my feelings.

My experience with Red Oak has been great. Everyone there is extremely friendly and caring. They have so many specialized counselors that they can really help you with anything you are struggling with. Highly… recommended.

Heidi Conto and the staff at Red Oak Counseling are committed to the well-being and embetterment of each patient. The staff are compassionate, supportive and extremely professional. I have had individual counseling as well as group therapy, and I have absolutely benefited from both.
