Stout Street changed our son's and our lives in every aspect. He has been sober for over 2 years. He is doing amazing and we could not be prouder of him.
I believe there should be a Stout Street in every city, in every state!!! This facility is the best place for someone fighting addiction! Is it easy? No! Does it work? Yes! It is 2 years to get your total life back!… From getting sober, to solving anger issues, To relearning work ethics! Thankyou Stout street for helping our loved ones come home!
Our son is at the Stout Street facility. We seem to be doing great and I’m really hoping that this turns his alcohol and drug addict addiction around. He’s super excited. He loves the place and for the next two years… we’re gonna get better thank you so much Stout Street.
Very unprofessional admissions staff. I'm a case manager who called trying to help a non-client who is incarcerated get accepted into treatment. The stuff member I spoke with was rude, dismissive, and laughed several… times during the call. Completely inappropriate and disappointing behavior from a treatment program that is supposed to help people in vulnerable situation.
Soooo here's the deal. This program is not easy. Well, Serenity was kinda easy (I did both of their programs). I hear they've changed some things in the long term program since I was there, but I'm sure it's still not… easy, or fun. I went in March of 2020 after a series of unfortunate life choices including two DUIs and discovering my inability to get sober "on my own". I had burned every bridge with my friends and family, I was as down and out as they come. My probation officer said "jail or rehab" and when I read about Stout Street, I immediately knew deep down that it was what I needed, despite the mixed reviews. I completed the inpatient portion of the program (18 months). During my time there, I was forced to face myself in a way that I desperately needed. I COULD sit here and rage about the aspects of the program that were - arguably - too intense. But I'd much rather tell you this: Stout Street changed my life. Because of the "job" I was assigned while I was in the program as the Medical Clerk (during COVID too! It was wild!), I had the necessary experience that I needed to apply for and gain access to a job in the addiction treatment field, where I still work to this day. Must more importantly, Stout was the TIME OUT I needed from life. It is a truly precious thing to have a year and a half to work on yourself. No bullshit. To not stress about bills, bad relationships and people from your time in active addiction, and to just SHUT OFF THE NOISE - is a GIFT. I am so grateful that I went here because it was the beginning of a beautiful life that I am now really creating, day by day. Had I not gone to Stout Street, I would be dead or likely in ANOTHER crappy codependent relationship. I can proudly say that I've been single since I went in, and five years later my life is looking more promising and feeling more stable and fulfilling than I ever thought would be possible. I always thought I would die before 30. That was my trajectory. Until Stout picked me up and shook me HARD with the reality of life, showed me that I CAN stand on my own two feet, and gave me ~H O P E~. If you're looking for a cushy rehab where you get loads of free time, someone to sign off on the lies you tell yourself to keep getting high or drunk, quick tips, and comfort in recovery... Look somewhere else. This place right here will wake you up and teach you how to be uncomfortable. I can't even tell you how many people bounced out after a month or so. It takes guts to work through this program. It's worth every tear, every WC, every write up, and every tough confrontation. I am only now (5 years in the future lol) really seeing and reaping the benefits of my time here. The more time that goes on, the more tools that I find myself using to navigate life. Tools that I gained from Stout Street. The classes that they offer during your time are life-changing. I still do Inner Child work to this day, and I will do it until the day I die because it is the only thing that has helped me heal certain parts of myself from abuse and self-loathing. In all transparancy, I did not graduate the program. I had a relapse in the sober living phase of the program and ended up going to another facility briefly to get back on track. But my drive, my THIRST for self awareness and self love - those came from Stout Street. I am now an HONEST person because of this place. Sometimes you have to break down in order to rebuild, and this is a place where you can do that safely. A few staff members had an incredible impact on me, and now we're coming full circle and I'm working alongside them to help others find their way into recovery at the outpatient clinic where I work. I can't say thank you enough, Stout Street. I also can't say I haven't talked a LOT of shit on this program.... Because it was HARD. But the gifts they offer are undeniable. I love seeing my "brothers and sisters" from Stout out here thriving. It is truly incredible and if you really want to change your life, you should go here. Trust the process. If I could do it, so can you.
stout street foundations changed my life and I will forever be grateful! Nothing but support & love at stout street.
They saved my life. I entered the program in 2001, a broken, helpless drug addict and criminal. With the help of Brad, Cheryl, and Chrisopher, I was able to break the chains of addiction and recidivism. It has been over… 24 years since my journey started, and I continue to be of service to others and remain in long-term recovery. I will support SSF and the work they do. Today was the 19th Annual Golf Tournament. If you need structure and a new start on life., SSF is the place. #PeopleHelpingPeopleHelpThemselves
They are people helping people!
Wonderful facility where they change lives!
This program is so antiquated like the Doctor in those so called therapy classes. You will be walking on egg shells . Their write up system can be used to target you.. Not realizing that there is other up to date… programs that offer the same Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Behavioral therapy. I'm glad that I left that program. Was excepted to another program that actually interacts with the community, allows you to have a job and save money and you get to have a cell phone.. I have been sober since then and partake in many community sober events .. This Stout Street is a slave program .. There is better options and up to date recovery programs out here that are truly there for an individual that is ready to Recover and put in the work..
I came to summer house when I was at the lowest point of my life. I couldn’t string together more than a few days of sobriety and my family, work, and social life had all fallen apart. Through the help of the amazing… staff (and even the owner who visited multiple times) I am happily moving onto my next step in my journey of sobriety. Thank you summer house for all of your help.
This facility is a caring and loving set of professional counselors and therapist. Residents experience a good experience and life, changing processes and therapies..
Just a waste of more tax payers money on useless in humane practices that don't even work anyway, total setup for failure. their success rate is so low they don't even list it. They should be shut down it's a total scam
Worst corrupted rehabilitation program in the country!! Do not send your loved ones there. They will engage in criminal behaviors with the counselor and sexual contact has been on going problem. The building is not up… to code and should be shut down for un-livable conditions and the inpatient treatment is a violation of the constitution for human rights.
I'm speaking about the two year long free program at the stout street foundation. I was referred there when I was 18 by my local detox center and I was told it was a free Therapeutic Community that was two years long. I… thought it sounded like exactly what I needed. I want you to know that the program is strongly based on the cult known as Synanon. Part of their therapy methods include The Game, a lot of sleep deprivation, isolating you from friends and family with a no outside contact order for your first 6months, a punishment known as The Bench and holding an outside job. But you aren't allowed to have any money during your stay, so they take all your paychecks and keep them. They don't really need to keep all of every residents paycheck as the place runs on private donations, the cost of the 28 day program, and money they get from the state for having parolees referred there. It may save some people's lives, but this type of treatment isn't for everyone. Just posting this so people can be informed about what exactly they are getting into before they make the decision to go. I was not properly informed beforehand. If you need some help and you can't afford a rehab or need something more intensive, I highly recommend the program Ready To Work. There is one in Denver and Boulder. It's not a cult, people are treated with respect, you don't have to give them your whole paycheck and graduation from RTW isn't rare, like it is at SSF. That's the place that not only saved my life, but the lives of most people I went there with.
The New HBO Documentary The Synanon Fix is an accurate portrayal of SSF. The like for like similarities are astounding…
Thankful and greatful to have learned the best way to live my life. I am forever grateful to have such amazing people from here in my life and to have a life period! I have felt the support from every inch of this… building and all that is within it. Staff has helped me remove the world that I carried on my shoulders. Now, solid is my foundation. Sobriety has made Stout Street Foundation and myself diamonds. Forged from my past and made to shine.
This place saved my life
This place saved my life. I've been sober for 4 years now and Stout Street thought me that I don't need drugs or alcohol to cope with any problem that may come up in life. Forever grateful
Stout Street foundation is a place that gave me a second chance at an amazing life with family and friends that thought I was completely lost. I learned empathy patience and how to live life with my head up.
Stout street saved my life! It’s an amazing community and I have made the best of friends here who support me unconditionally. I love myself today which is something that was my biggest challenge. My daughters are back… in my life. Thank you for continuing to support me.
Welcome me with open arms and forever grateful. Not a place for a young black broken men..In order to be completely done with anything u must be completely tired..It's doesn't take 2 years or a community of fake love, and… abuse..Give it to god and just stop when you're tired...Ms Rena is the best like a mother sent from heaven.
Programs like this are scary. They encourage people to speak hate to each other, their game night breaks people psychologically and emotionally. The bench is a form a punishment where you are placed on a hard seat and… can’t move or talk, just sit there and stare and every few hours they give you a 5 min break to go to the bathroom where you are walked to the bathroom and supervised. It promotes people to humiliate others. And then there is the news letter where they actually write lies about you and publish it so everyone there can read it. There is also the indictment system where they make you write at least two a week on someone else or you get in trouble yourself. Stout street is based on Synedon and Scientology format. And then they force you to work basically slave labor for local businesses and they keep your paycheck not allowing you to save up anything for when you are finally released in 2 years. I highly recommend people look into Synedon. Places like this should be illegal. There are better ways to rehabilitate addicts, this place is dangerous and destructive. It also needs to be known there is little to no staff senior residents are counseling newer. No one there is certified counselors. Since it’s privately owned it is not governed by state mandates and is not regulated through the state. No one there is a license counselor!!!
Serenity is a 28 day program but the rules consist of getting in trouble for ur room being messy, no phone calls until after 6pm and there only ten minute calls, and don't leave early cause they make you wait across the… street with all ur belongings. Theirs also an hour and a half lockdown where you must stay inside ur room. If your not disciplined or really ready to do anything for sobriety I wouldn't recommend it.
I am in recovery myself so to see a program like this was awesome. 3 guys from there helped to move and I got to know them a little during that time.
Stout Street Foundation… there is not enough words or space to post of the incredible movement in recovery that this place doles out. I speak from personal experience when I say this place changes lives. Nothing else… worked for me. Thank you Stout Street for everything!!
It's a money scam I went here in 2002 it's bunk stay true to yourself and just do you get off the dope you don't need them to help you you can do it all on your own strength
This place has saved countless lives. No other facility sets you up for success like SSF. Thankyou SSF
I want to apologize for my comment about stout street. This was prior to me knowing exactly who and what you all were. You saved my friends life and I want to thank you. I also have another friend that needs you guys… more than ever and I can only hope and pray that he is able to get in before he is gone forever. Some good children would lose a good father that deserves to be sober. Thank you stout street for doing what you do. ————————————————- (Old review) Note to self, do not donate to Stout St. Foundation. I pulled into their huge empty lot to meet someone that is buying a vacuum from me... Within 3 minutes, 2 guys came out and said it was private property and that I couldn't park there. I literally thought they were the people I was meeting. Set the vacuum outside and everything. It is a huge empty lot. Not like I was staying the night or something. I was literally there for 10 minutes tops. Aren't all lots private? So I guess most would let me park to do this, but then there are some huge empty ones that won't. I don't get it.
