Abbott House West – Rapid City

We were told by our foster kid's DSS worker the last week of July that Abbott House would call to interview her the first week of August. First week and comes and no phone call. We let the DSS worker know and an… interview is set up for Monday,. Monday comes, they call and she gets told they will be sending me some information later in the week. It never comes. The next Monday, a week before school is to start, I call the DSS worker and Abbott House. Neither call back. I call DSS again on Tuesday to get the plan for her move. She calls back and tells me Abbott House declined to take her. This is six days before school starts. So basically Abbott House strung us along for three weeks. At the very least they can do things in a timely fashion and not take three weeks to get a "NO" answer done. Now DSS has to scramble to get her placed so she can attend school.

Wish somebody would staff the phone more often when I am trying to call my child. I usually have to call about 10 different times before I get through to somebody.

Ok lemme start of by saying I spent over 2 months at wellfully waiting on a placement to go to because my home situation was not healthy for my mental health eventually I left wellfully crisis care and moved on.I ended… up having no where to go again and wellfully would not take me back mind you it's a crisis care for anyone in crisis they explained that they couldnt or wouldn't let me come back and they couldn't help me no more how is you gonna deny me from a mental crisis care just because I've been there before thats messed up.just because I've been there before don't mean I don't deserve to come back.they using my mistakes against me for a reasoning to not let me back.its weird and there barely be anyone n the crisis care anywyas are the staff that lazy?Rebecca the supervisor was alwyss very sweet but at the end of the day this was her decision and the teams....like crazy huh so if anything do happen to me it's on y'all cu I called trynna come there for a safe place until l I could get into treatment to better myself.your all weird for that and oh I'm not the only one they done this too they do this too mutiple kids who attend there and need to come back.seems like y'all picking and choosing who you want in crisis care when it's supposed to be open to anyone in any crisis.just weird at this point might as well be shut down if you gon deny everyone trynna come in yo facility 😂get it right if I had the powers too id take the too court because it's unfair and goes completely against everything you all claim.

The worst facility i have ever dealt with! I needed a place for one of my family members i took in as kinship. They tried forcing her to basically not stay. They asked when she takes her meds and then proceeded to let… her take her medication hours earlier then needed. The man named Spencer who deals with those children has no place dealing with kids. He waited hours to even meet with the child and then switched to instead over the phone group therapy he wanted me to come in which is fine. But I needed my husband to come home and watch our youngest so I could go to well fully. I said I will call you back. Not even acouple minutes pass and he immediately calls back and I didn't answer because im on the phone with my husband. He proceeded to tell the child in my care if I dont call him back hes going to have my husband and I arrested and charged with abandonment! ! When I literally talked to him I literally would come in! I go to the therapy. The child clearly said multiple times they wanted to stay until we could get ahold of their caseworker and he didn't care to hear how she felt and how she wanted to stay for her own mental being and safety. He said it was up to her but was forcing her out the door to leave. He had told her that this was ruining his weekend days off and he never gets barely any days off because kids coming in there. She asked to then be moved from crisis care to upstairs facility and he refused that. He wanted her out for his own self so he could go have his time and not deal with a child in need. He constantly kept telling her how she feels and how she needs to do things his way. He is so unprofessional and way out of line. He also told the workers there personal Information about the child and the child feels every one there started to treat her differently. I would and never will ever bring a child to this facility or to get care from Spencer. They also never gave her the morning meds she needed and when we left the facility they forgot her medications with her stuff as well. The staff told the child Spencer constantly pushes kids out of there all the time for his own reasoning. I feel sorry for any kids who have to endure the horrible care at this facility. I felt no compassion or resolution for the child or the situation. They call it a crisis center but the crisis it their lack of ability to truly care and take real action and listen to the child and what they need.

This place has done absolutely amazing things for my daughter!

This place gave me the first sense of family in a long time. The staff there are more than amazing at making the kids feel like they belong somewhere. My experience there was unparalleled to any other treatment facility… I have been to. Thank you wellfully family. You made me who I am today.

Horrible facility. Staff is not compassionate whatsoever. The people who answer the phones hang up on people in need. Do not depend on a place that hangs up on people to be able to offer any kind of lasting or impactful… help.

Provides a safe, growth oriented environment

Live next door to em and it always sounds like there having fun so that's cool
