About Monument Health – Rapid City
Monument Health operates from 915 Mountain View Road in Rapid City. The site sits in Pennington County, which shapes which public funding routes apply. Nearby communities include Blackhawk, Colonial Pine Hills and Rapid Valley. Distance matters here, and the nearest option is not always the one that fits.
Hospital inpatient care and outpatient care are delivered here, alongside telehealth appointments and care for co-occurring mental health conditions. Which level fits depends on the assessment rather than on what is available, so the useful first question is what that assessment involves.

Treatment Services at Monument Health
Hospital inpatient care and outpatient care run to a set weekly schedule, with evenings and weekends spent at home. That suits people holding down work or caring responsibilities, though it asks more of someone managing early recovery alone. Ask what the assessment involves before you commit.
Trauma-specific services run alongside, which matters where the two are tangled together. Co-occurring mental health conditions are treated in the same building rather than split across providers. Assessment decides the level of care, so ask what that involves and how quickly it can happen.

Monument Health Address, Location and Contact Information
The address is 915 Mountain View Road, Rapid City, SD 57702, in Pennington County. The catchment reaches Blackhawk, Colonial Pine Hills and Rapid Valley. Confirm what a program covers before traveling in, since the level of care listed is not always the level with capacity.
Telehealth appointments cover some contact where travel is difficult, which removes part of the journey for people further out. Ask what a first appointment involves and how long the current wait runs before making the trip. Waiting times vary with capacity, so call ahead rather than arriving unannounced.

Monument Health Reviews and Ratings
Reviews of Monument Health help in two directions. Reading them helps you prepare questions for the admissions team, and writing one, if you have been a patient, helps the next family prepare theirs.
My daughter just got admitted there today. Should I be worried? Reading these reviews has me very concerned. Plus the guy I talked to didn't care, he damn hang up on me.
When I was at the hospital for sh at 10 years old they didn't have enough room at the mental hospital so they kept me in the hospital room. They basically kept me in this white walled room with a white garage looking… door to the left of the room and a TV enclosed in metal and glass for about 3 weeks (it felt like that it might have been 2 though I'm not sure,).. I was 10 years old, and during this time, I didn't know how to read the clock and stuff and there were no windows and I didn't leave the room even once. So I asked what time it was because I thought it was day, but it was 3:00AM. During this time I couldn't pee in a cup cuz I felt like I had no privacy and one of the nurses told me they will 'do bad things' if I didnt. I stayed there rotting for around 3 weeks without seeing natural light. I was 10. That was at the actual hospital. But my experience actually in the west unit isn't any better. One of the doctors who deals with medicine or whatever loaded me up with medication causing me to gain so much weight and go numb, just to find out I was feeling horrible because of hormones. Keep in mind my grandma figured this out not the doctor. The beds are so uncomfortable and the fact I have to get undressed in front of staff when I come in is so uncomfortable. I had NO CHOICE at all if I wanted to come here or not. If someone starts having a meltdown they will just send everyone back to there room. One time when I was younger and was here (about 11 or 10) I was crying because I was sad and I had a small delusion I quickly snapped out of but they forced me to go to the back rooms behind the staff place. The rooms are so extremely small and made of concrete. All I had was a thin mattress to sleep on. And not only that but there was a window so staff could look through and see me. There were also marks carved in the concrete from some poor soul who was counting there days in that concrete room. I spent about 2 days in that concrete room and during that time someone in the concrete room right next to me was being restrained and begging not to be sedated. They were about my age to. There are nice staff and 'bad' staff but that's to be expected. Every hour I stayed in that building no matter when it was drove me more insane. It's not to keep people safe, it's simply torture. Not much has changed from 1887 has it? Did Nellie Bly suffer through everything for nothing? Monument Health you don't care about patients. I went here recently because of a mental health crisis that was an out of the moment thing. Everyone has there bad days and just because I had a bad day meant I had to go to the hospital. I didn't have to go there for years but just because I "had previous attempts from years ago" DOESN'T mean I had to go. Patients aren't treated any better than prisoners. We are humans with emotions and needs. I am a Christian and think Monument Health has so much evil in it. Lord please help us all. The staff even made a joke in the past that we would walk down to the nearby Starbucks in shackles which I didn't find funny at all. Why should people who are suffering from mental health issues be punished and tortured further? Monument Health you disgust me and I hope you find the Lord. If I could I would sue you for thousands but even then it wouldn't take away the pain and suffering you took from me. I want something for what you did I am seriously considering pressing charges or something. My mother's experience wasn't any better. I don't want some professional fake concern apology. But I am Christian so I will forgive. But I won't ever forget. This won't slide. It just can't. I may see you in court. Probably not but I sure hope so because Monument Health you are horrifying.
People are here voluntarily or not. Either way it is at what feels like the hardest time of their life. On the adult side of when I stayed there , the staff were very friendly and willing to make sure I was okay and… tried to help me the best they could. I was not there very long but my life has started to turn around for the positive and I couldn’t have asked for better people. If I need a place to go I will definitely go back.
This still haunts me now that it’s been a few years. I was admitted into this facility seeking help and treatment but they had nothing to give besides mountains of drugs to make you numb. I was prescribed a massive… amount of trazodone that made me unable to stay awake the next day. The “activity” was just walking up and down a hallway for an hour. The staff was dehumanizing and mentally abusive. One of the nurses would mock me when I would cry. I begged my father to switch me hospitals but then they wouldn’t allow me to use the phone at all. They restrained me when I decided to demand to use the phone and sedated me. The male staff hurt me so bad I had bruises and even the other nurses there told him to loosen his grip. My mental health got so much worse being here so I decided to lie to get my way out. Whatever they want to hear to get out of that hell hole. I would never recommend anyone coming to this facility for help especially for their kids.
Very unprofessional workers who make fun of those who need medical help for mental health. You go here needing help and they can do the bare minimum. At least the food was edible.
Bare minimum care. The staff here make fun of people who obviously need help with their recovery. The only good thing about my stay was the food being pretty decent. I'll never come back here.
By all means if you have any kind of physical disability, This mental health hospital will use your mental health conditions to discriminate against your physical disabilities. Example: I was admitted a few years back… and I am deaf, they took my deaf communication device (which is a app on my phone) away from me when I was sleeping. Then they offered it to me, if I only stayed in one spot, which is a whole bunch of BC. I did not hear them say " only if you stay in one spot", therefore once I got my phone I took off. They held me down and took it away... I raised heck that I did. Mine as well just go for long hike and get lost....
Wonderful care they made me feel safe
Uh it was good ig Hannah was nice I lied to get out thought gross chicken strips but why is the windows half covered though overall it sucked i was literally forced to stay in my room the entire stay manz
You really do need an inpatient cancer center
My medicine kept getting cancelled at the pharmacy I picked it up from, and my doctor here didn't know why. Seems there's a "glitch" that only affects 1 of my medications and the top boss knows about it, but didn't get… I.T. to fix it? Yeah, right. If you actually value your peace and mental health, I'd go elsewhere.
Bare minimum for ways to feel human again. Providers are great but the management of care is not good. Dehumanizing environment and select staff and nurses. The care is minimum and absolutely nothing for coping… mechanisms. No books to read, no games, no music, nothing to do with your free time which is honestly too much. Don't recommend. Sad place I hope noone has to go to. Pathetic compared to the other Monument facilities.
I haven't been admitted here since I was 17 but I really think they are horrible to kids on the adolescent side. They scream at you if you want to go to bed, they make you run laps in the hallway every morning, the beds… are awful they treat everyone with disrespect. However my husband has been here on the adult side and they are always kind to him, hopefully the adolescent side is different these days.
An excellent job and the people are really nice.
I think the staff of this facility do the best they can to help everyone. This is not always the best or easiest job and they deserve credit for their work. The doctors were helpful and the programs they had were well… intentioned and helpful. That being said, I lost my Apple Watch at the facility and it’s been three weeks and they haven’t called me back and don’t seem to be looking for it. I’d really like to have compensation to get a new watch, but haven’t been able to talk to anyone who can help me with this issue. Apple watches are expensive but mine wasn’t even on my list of personal items. I know it’s there thanks to Find My Apple Watch. The organization of monument west is pretty good, but this issue has not been resolved after three weeks.
This place is absolutely horrible , the staff is disrespectful and rude .
Did a lot for me and everyone there was very focused on my recovery and very kind I really do think the staff care about you! The staff are honestly one of my biggest reasons for recovering
Last time i was involuntarily held, a lady tore out my nose ring as “punishment” and i was tackled by multiple staff. I was told i was gonna go to a padded room if i didnt change the color garments i had. Their attitude… is insanely disrespectful
It was kind of fine it was a worker there named Casey she's a travel nurse and she wasn't very kind.
I wouldn't leave my dog there if I had to! I was hoping it wasn't as bad as people made it sound. You should make them give you a tour before you enter the facility. Very sad!
It was ok.. I visited this place when I was 11. Now I'm 13 but the food was bad and the beds.. Idk but I was uncomfortable with a lady having to watch me shower.. Everyone was ok and a girl mya. She was my roommate and… we became friends quickly but it was sad that she had to leave. But my visit wasn't to bad.
I wish I could give a 0 but what I experienced was down right neglect. I wasn’t given a bag with a tooth brush, brush, toothpaste, extra underwear, etc. I felt extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed, the staff that did… my sign in papers was rude and made my experiences feel like they didn’t matter. I was also 12 dealing with kids like myself and kids who had severe anger issues, this also reminds me of the time when they sedated a 7/8 year old I can’t remember how old but he was the youngest one in there. Pixie yes I remember her name would cuss at other children and have a horrible attitude AROUND CHILDREN. If you don’t like your job and don’t like kids, do us all a favor and Don’t WORK WITH KIDS. In conclusion it was dirty, uncomfortable, non professional, and a place where children shouldn’t be sent to “heal”. It’s time for an upgrade.
Pathetic how I was treated
If I could, I would give it a zero review because the staff were mean and disrespectful, the food is horrible, the beds are disgusting, the bathroom and showers look like, they never get cleaned the staff don't know… personal space. There was only one person that I enjoyed being around and that was his security guard. They gave punishments for no reason. They would put me in this thing called the focused desk, for no reason I would talk to someone and they told me to go to the desk and face the wall.unfortunately, this place wanted me to alive myself even more
If I could give zero stars, I would. Absolutely horrible and unqualified PAs! Don't take your child here!
It's was terrible. They didn't give me the proper medication, when I had a allergic reaction to cheese they made me wait almost 20 minutes for benadryl, their beds were very stiff and the showers were cold, they barely… had any food for lactose people like myself, they also gave me a shot because I got missed off with the staff for making me skip my phone call 2 days in a row, overall terrible experience and this was my 3rd time there.
I feel for any parent who has to resort to this place for their child.
Very old and I believe have active ghost activity in hospital very active but overall the hospital treated me very well
