Capital District Psychiatric Center – Albany Address, Location and Contact Information

You will find this provider at 75 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, New York, 12208. Albany County covers this area. The catchment reaches beyond the city itself. How someone gets there matters more than it sounds: travel is one of the commonest reasons a course of treatment stops partway.

It is worth calling first to confirm access, parking and the shape of a first visit. Where no one answers, leaving a message and calling again later usually works better than giving up.

As someone who went here as a teenager. 8 Years later I can confidently say this place messed me up as a human being. I haven't been the same since. Do not bring your children here unless it is an absolute emergency,… and even then, try to go somewhere else.

Well I spent at least three years in CDCP and some of the time was hard. The food isn't terrible, of course know one is going to like everything. The place is loaded mice and I've seen them on my bed. The staff does… have some people that are hard to deal with but on the other hand they are made to work crazy hours or get fired. One thing about the place is that they have some very scary people that can attack at any time. Update, it's been 3 years since I left the hospital and now I look back cdpc did me no good I have terrible memories and nightmares about the place.

The staff are dedicated however the entire mental health system is broken. They are doing their best. 3 stars for the mice problem though.

We were a little unsure when we pulled up but the pop up event was was actually very real and scary. We had never done one of these themed escape rooms before and neither had any of our group but it was awesome! Doing… it in a real operating psych hospital was interesting. One of the actual patients stepped in and helped us get out of room 5. We thought she was an actor until one of the workers came and removed her. I didn't like that they only took cash because on the website it said they took apple pay. I signed up for their newsletter because I can't wait to do another one of these Midnight Loony Bin Escape Rooms next time I come to Albany!

I have a loved one staying there and the staff has been wonderful and always answering questions for any issues I have to ask . Keeping me informed of his medical needs . Parking is in a I think 9 story parking garage… and level 7 and higher are for visitors . I was able to drop off clothing , toiletries and money order for his snacks at the front . My only complaint was when I asked the security guard for restroom he pointed to a door which was the exit of the facility which was not nice all he had to say is no restroom I am editing this review . After my loved one left the facility he told me a lot of things that alarmed myself about this place . 1st of all it’s not a vacation being there but worse then jail and this recent review is coming from someone that was a patient . In the morning when you leave your room , the room will be locked the whole day so as a patient you will have to stay in dayroom for whole day . 2nd . If you have to use restroom you need to find a staff member cause always locked now I understand for safety but staffing is bad as well the staff members are scarce and not very nice I was told . My loved one got a blood clot and was asking for a nurse to help him with the pain he was feeling and thank god she finally listened they rushed him to Albany med in time to save his life . Very scary and he said they don’t give you any water throughout the day . Because my loved one has serious pysch problems I am worried he going back inside and for longer and I will be contacting his councilor daily make sure his needs are met

In short: I've been with them for ten years - they constantly reassign my counselor and prescriber (I've had 4 different counselors in as many months) which resets any progress I've made (no consistency); Counselors are… inept and unfamiliar with treating my disorders (one insistently told me to look up meditations on YouTube); Prescribers fail to note diagnoses (malpractice); Current prescriber is unwilling to adjust medication as needed. Disgusting "care".

When someone is at the end of their life mentally, they don’t care about the quality of a center such as this . You /we didn’t wanna live so who cares about the quality of this place

The police and I just dealt with my autistic son being on the roof. He has broken out of the house two other times this week. His social worker had me call to try to at least have him held 24 hours as he tried to find… ways around a waiting list for placement. She repeatedly told me bacuse the police got him down there was no problem. She gave me a number, quickly told me it was wrong, and that she'd give me another, which she never did. She forgot to turn off the mic so she never hung up.She laughed at our situation, told who ever was in the room she covered for them. They both laughed and she again credited herself for "covering" for her so she didn't have to deal with our case. I told her the mic was on and she hung up.

I was hospitalized here after an interaction with the Mobile Crisis Unit. I was led to a room where I waited to see a doctor for several hours before being led to a private room where I had to stay with an adult at all… times . They stopped all my medication and forgot to bring us food. They only remembered to give me food once, a turkey sandwich, even though I told them I was a vegetarian. They provided none for my mother who was forced to stay there with me, so she just ate the turkey sandwich. I was there for two days and was scared for most of it. Also someone broke our car's window while it was in the hospital's parking garage.

Worst than a prison. There is no compassion from the workers at all. They will not listen to you, they will lie to you and they will treat you like you’re not human. Your mental health will be worst after you leave.

I was referred to them for both me and my child.. I called and said I'm calling to set up counciling and stuff... The website says they have outpatient therapy and other programs... The bi#$h who answered told me she… not sure what I'm talking about and told me the are an emergency mental evaluation holding place only so I hung up .. unacceptable! Ppl need help and this is the type of shi# that the do w Hen we have the courage to call!

This place will make you way more irrational than you already are. This place shouldn’t be equipped to make a decision rather you should be hospitalized because they find everyone paranoid! If you’re surrounded around… ppl you don’t know and ppl walking around in paper gowns yes you will show paranoia..... they are full of lies and they are very rude! Pretty much give programmed lies instead of the truth I’m currently dealing with them and I would not recommend no one going there

Great place to eat nothing but processed cheese sandwiches, get in fights, get lied to, get stolen from, and fear for your life. There is not much else you can accomplish here. DO NOT GO HERE. If you have to, you have… to, but I would not ever suggest trying to come anywhere near this place. In fact, avoid calling 911 at all costs! Call someone you love first!

If I could give zero I would. Called two weeks ago to ask about outpatient services. Never called me back. Had to call the next week to learn that they had no spaces available. In other words, a wasted week. Imagine if… someone in a precarious state called and got the same response. Garbage institution. Garbage staff. Stay the hell away.

Member of staff threatened to take a patient outside and beat him up. You're given one pair of paper-like clothes to wear, have to ask for a toothbrush, I still don't even know where the shower was or if one even… existed after being held there against my will for four days. Never got a hair brush either. They don't tell you what's going on and you're left in the dark, staring at walls between questionable meals, wondering if they'll really hold you for the maximum amount of time they're allowed to by law, because no one seems to listen your pleas to get out. Didnt even know where I was until another patient informed me of the name of the place. Creepy bug I never saw before crawling in the dining area. They will push meds on you (multiple times) and threaten to keep you longer if you don't consent to sharing your mental health records with someone you're living with. A lot of ppl experiencing psychosis seemed overmedicated. Some of the staff look down on the patients/don't want to acknowledge them/answer their question(s).
