Very positive environment! Welcoming and kind. The staff here are so kind and caring, I honestly felt like I had a second team of moms on my side. I absolutely recommend CFD for anyone who is seeking support!
I spent a lot of time researching treatment programs. I ultimately chose Center For Discovery because I felt comfortable with the person I spoke to on the phone and because they had open spots available right away. My… inner critic said "Why do they have open spots? Is no one going to this place?" The answer is that lots of people are going to this place! And those are the people I spent every day with for the last three months. Going in, I wasn't sure what attending treatment would be like (it's kind of like hanging out with people who understand you, eating meals together, processing feelings, and working on goals) or where treatment would be (it's in a big building with other businesses) or how it would feel to share my inner most thoughts about food, weight, and body with others (it is scary, but also freeing!) or who would be there (lots of different people, ages, stages in life, gender identities, fashion choices and hobbies HA!) Basically, I had a lot of questions going in and I wasn't sure this would be worth my time/energy/money/family stress/etc. It sounds cheesy, but what I found was so much more than I could have imagined for myself. I will miss all the staff and friends I made. I will miss all the games we played at meals and all the inside jokes and crying from emotions but also crying from laughing so hard. Thank you to Paige, Ailis, Alana, Kim, and Jodi for being part of my journey and helping me see the best parts of me.
To anyone considering coming here for treatment - do it. The other reviews posted during COVID are not representative of how the facility is now (not to mention they have never put anyone into "quarantine," it's not… even that kind of facility). It's not perfect, nothing is, but this program, the staff, and the others in program with me changed my life. But, it took time. Plus, there are tons of post program support. I still miss the connection I felt with everyone there. It will be what you make of it, so give it a shot and embrace it. It's worth it.
I was disappointed that I didn’t get to finish this program but was incredibly grateful for the time I spent here. I unfortunately needed a higher level of care than PHP but the month I was at this location was spent in… kind and caring arms. My team truly wanted the best for me every single minute of being there (whether my ed liked it or not) and these clinicians immediately met me where I was at. The staff were all incredible and so were the other clients. A major shoutout to the BEST dietician Sam, Paige for being on my side, and so many other lovely people that stood by me. This place is wonderful and I hope anyone looking for help comes here:)
Pretty disappointed with my experience with this facility. I tried getting in for treatment in March/April of 2021. Was told that it would be a 4-6 week wait for intake. I told them that was fine and I could wait that… long. Every week I would get an update on where I was within the waitlist. And every week it would be the same. A 4-6 week wait which was chronically subject to change. But realistically would never change. I asked if I could get a better idea of when intake would be as I had to schedule things with work to take time off as I wouldn’t be able to work at all. Well, now it’s July, I never was put into intake even though the facility felt that partial hospitalization was necessary. I could be dead by now and it wouldn’t really matter to the facility I suppose because then I’d just end up in an ER and wouldn’t be their problem anymore. But I basically had to self treat and gave up on getting into this facility and getting treatment. I’m eating again but it’s not because of this place, that’s for sure. I’ve been told by others with ED that getting into these types of facilities is difficult but it really shouldn’t be. People should be able to access treatment and clearer communication on how long intake can actually take.
Absolutely awful, completely unprepared and unequiped to deal with mental health. I went through 4 different therapists in the span of 6 weeks because they kept firing them and quitting. Is more limiting than benifitial.
My niece was put into quarantine, where she was denied the opportunity to participate in groups via Zoom, and ignored (she had to yell to remind staff to give her her medication) for days. Effectively, she was placed in… solitary confinement for multiple days. In the processing group, when it was her turn, she tried to describe how this isolation and neglect had affected her. The counselor told her that this wasn't the right group for that. She responded "this is the processing group, and this is what I'm processing." She was then cut off by the counselor and told she was being disrespectful. She left. The counselor followed her, and continued to harangue her about being disrespectful. And, as a result of an emotionally distraught teenager being repeatedly provoked by this staff member and ordered to come into compliance in a way that is not possible when one is emotionally distraught, she was kicked out. Clearly there are systemic issues with the training, temperament, and competence of the staff at this facility. I would highly recommend staying away from this facility until they've taken stock of their situation and made significant efforts to get their house in order.
Today had an opportunity to visit their offices and learn more about the services offered. I have no doubt of the professionalism and commitment to their clientele.
