Compass Health – Eastsound Detox and Rehab Services
Compass Health – Eastsound is recorded as offering intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening. Which of these is appropriate depends on an assessment, not on what sounds manageable at the time.
Mental health and substance use are handled together rather than in sequence. The weekly time commitment varies considerably between providers, so establish it early rather than after admission.

Compass Health – Eastsound Address, Location and Contact Information
The facility address is 1286 Mount Baker Road, Eastsound, Washington, 98245. San Juan County covers this area. People travel in from the surrounding area, and confirming the route beforehand saves difficulty. Public transport, parking and the length of the journey all affect whether someone completes a course of treatment, and they are worth settling before the first appointment rather than after.
It is worth calling first to confirm access, parking and the shape of a first visit. If getting there is hard, ask about a remote first appointment. Where no one answers, leaving a message and calling again later usually works better than giving up.

How Much Does Treatment at Compass Health – Eastsound Cost?
Self-funded rehab in Washington typically costs $1,750 to $5,600 for a week of medical detox, $3,000 to $10,000 a month for an intensive outpatient program and $1,500 to $5,500 a month for standard outpatient care. A price list for Compass Health could not be found at the time of writing, so those state costs are an estimate.
A reasonable expectation is that Compass Health’s cost includes medical monitoring, the intake assessment, group therapy and individual counseling. Medication is often a separate charge. Because this could not be found for the facility itself, call Compass Health and ask.

Compass Health – Eastsound Reviews and Ratings
What is Compass Health like for patients? Reviews in this section, from RehabSeekers and from around the web, describe the program in the words of patients and families who know it.
Jennifer Utter is an outstanding PA. In all the cities I have lived and used PAs she is by far the best. She is interested in your over all well being. It’s not a medical visit it’s a real visit with sound medical… treatment and help that far exceeds your expectations. She is the best asset this medical facility has.
I had an excellent experience being treated through Island Health. Orcas family practice made an appointment for me within minutes when I texted on a Monday morning that I’d been bitten by a cat over the weekend. I was… able to see a PA within an hour, who established me as a new patient (I had just moved several weeks prior). He examined the injury, shared info and prescribed antibiotics which were ready at the local pharmacy within 30 minutes.
My son was able to get an appointment for an urgent medical need the same day!!! Thanks for helping him!!!
Staff was friendly and welcoming.
The PA assigned to me displayed nervous energy, hostility, and mental instability from the moment she entered the exam room where I was taken. She showed ignorance about my medical history (hadn't seemed to have… properly reviewed my file before seeing me) and kept asking me what I was in there for and what I wanted to have done. I said numerous times that "it was my yearly medical, which I communicated to the person who took my call for an appointment, including the MA earlier. You’re the experts--so, please, tell me what you think I need." I also mentioned some of the things my previous doctor (Dr. Simpson-Manske) suggested I might need for my next visit, and I asked her what she thought of such recmenndations. She didn't reply to that. Instead, she adopted a hostile tone, griping about having had to set up a pap smear test kit which she accused me of ordering and now not wanting. I had to correct her a few times about this, suggesting there was a miscommunication between her and the registrar who scheduled my appointment. She told me to sit on the exam table in a curt tone, and listened to my breathing through a stethoscope. Then she said, “Is your breathing always this shakey because you're shakey or are you upset?” I replied, “yes, I’m upset,” and told her why: “It seems there is no proper communication and coordination between you guys about why I’m here today. It also appears none of you has even looked at my file before seeing me. And despite the fact you're supposed to be the medical experts, you keep asking me what I think I need or want, and I keep telling you to please tell me what, in your expert opinion, I need to have done for my yearly medical checkup. And you all just keep throwing the ball back at me. I’m the patient here--shouldn’t it be you, the experts, be the ones who should be suggesting what I need?” Then, she paced the room like a caged animal, mumbling things suggesting I’m being difficult. Then, I said, “I realize you must have had a bad day. But you seem to be gaslighting me now. You asked me if I was upset--and now you’re mad at me for me simply honestly answering your question. That’s not fair.” She said she'll talk to the office manager about me and abruptly left the room. I realized then she was going to badmouth me, and true enough, she was in the corridor talking with the office manager, where everyone could potentially hear. I said, “This is unprofessional and unacceptable! You're gaslighting a patient.” It was a horrible experience of not only being traumatized by my health care provider but also not getting the medical care I need. A patient should never have to worry about the psychological state of the health care provider attending to her, like what happened to me that day. This is a disgrace to the medical profession. This PA should be fired. I fear to imagine what other hurts and harms she’s causing other patients with her rude and unprofessional behavior.
Karen Orr is kind, attentive and thorough. I am grateful to be in her care.
Dr Wilson is fantastic
My doctor was right on time and shared very useful information with me.
Everyone was wonderful to me. I was so happy they were able to fit me in.
I find all the staff at the clinic both competent and caring, and I am especially grateful knowing that medical care is being organized these days on a business model with pressure to get people in and out fast without… time to listen and think deeply about their concerns. The folks at Orcas Primary Care are doing their best in a badly broken system and deserve our kudos. My primary care PA Karen Orr has always managed to listen and go the extra mile. I hope she is able to take as good care of herself and she has of me.
I received a professional evaluation and I am grateful for the proposed plan for recovery.
Great visit with Dr Wilson.
I was so impressed with each person ... so kind and personal ... THANK YOU!
Excellent facility and staff. They were caring and professional
After having a physical, the doctor was going to prescribe a medication with my local pharmacy. It was not available the next day, so I stopped by the clinic to ask them to ensure that it would be taken care of. Stopped… by the pharmacy today (9 days later), and the prescription had still not been sent. Called the clinic this afternoon. Left a callback number, and never heard back.
Very professional yet personable!
My personal experience has been very good. I am pleased to have Dr. Wilson as my provider; and all other staff have been competent and welcoming. The portal is excellent. I share the community's concern about Island… Health's recent firing of the very popular Dr. Simpson-Manske and the current shortage of primary care doctors and long waiting times for appointments.
This was my first visit with PA Michael (Cameron) Fralick. I was able to be seen on an urgent care basis, didn’t have to wait long in lobby or treatment room. I was satisfied with my diagnosis, treatment, and care for… my minor but concerning presenting problem. He asked about any other issues and I was able to get imaging on the spot (even though that issue was not urgent) rather than have to schedule for weeks in the future.
Dr. Wilson is fantastic. From his many years of experience working in an ER he can figure things out that no one else has been able to. Additionally Cameron, the new PA is great and I really love Cheryl the RN. I've had… some challenges with some of the other PAs and made it known but if you request Cameron and work with Dr. Wilson you'll have a great experience! I would not recommend Karen Orr. Additionally the staff that works at the front desk who greet and process your appointments are fantastic. I can't remember all of their names but every single one of them including Holly, and Amy (who I know outside of the clinic which is why I remember their names) are both welcoming and hospitable. I highly recommend that if you have an unpleasant experience with any of the staff that you contact Island Primary Care and let them know because they're very receptive. Their office is in Mount Vernon. They are the corporation that manages all of the health facilities in our area.
Great staff all around. Love these folks
I believe this is the best and most gracious healthcare I have ever received. The staff is always friendly, responsive, and accommodating. MD, RNs, NPs, lab and radiology techs are all informed and patient. I hope we… never lose the excellent personalized care provided by the clinic.
I arrived to a long-delayed appointment (the Medical Center delayed) only to be told that my physician “no longer worked there.” No calls, only a letter that arrived later. No explanation, of course. No plan for another… physician to address my long-standing issues, prescriptions, etc. I was given the impression that there were no other physicians on staff. Seriously?? So, I am forced to give one star in order to pist! 😡
I created a new account and was immediately treated for an ear blockage at Orcas Clinic. The care I received was professional, courteous, and empathetic.
Phlebotomist is the best at Orcas Clinic. Believe me I know. As a stem cell transplant patient at SCCA (now Fred Hutch) I had a LOT of blood draws. She is always cheerful and friendly and I can hardly feel the needle.… THANK YOU!!
