CONCERN – Bethlehem Detox and Rehab Services

CONCERN – Bethlehem is listed as running intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Day programming is scheduled, with evenings spent at home. Anyone unsure which level fits should ask for an assessment rather than choosing from a list, since placement criteria exist precisely to make that judgement.

The record does not show integrated provision, so confirm this if it matters. The weekly time commitment varies considerably between providers, so establish it early rather than after admission.

CONCERN – Bethlehem Address, Location and Contact Information

CONCERN – Bethlehem is located at 90 South Commerce Way in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, 18017. Bethlehem sits in Northampton County. People travel in from the surrounding area, and confirming the route beforehand saves difficulty. How someone gets there matters more than it sounds: travel is one of the commonest reasons a course of treatment stops partway.

It is worth calling first to confirm access, parking and the shape of a first visit. Where travel is difficult, ask whether an initial appointment can be held remotely. Reception hours vary, so a call that goes unanswered once is worth repeating rather than treating as a dead end.

I had a very disappointing experience at this practice when I received therapy and psychiatric treatment a few years ago. While the administrative staff were generally okay, I felt that there was a strong emphasis on… payment and billing, which made the experience feel more focused on money than on patient care. My biggest concern was my experience with the psychiatrist. I felt that he was rude, dismissive, and did not take the time to understand my diagnosis or listen carefully to my concerns. I often felt misunderstood and disrespected during my appointments. There was also a time when I needed documentation for an accommodation related to college. I asked the psychiatrist for assistance, but he refused to provide the documentation. This had a significant negative impact on me and made an already difficult situation with my education much harder. What made the situation even more upsetting was that, after the psychiatrist refused my request, I felt that the staff, including the front-desk staff and social worker, defended and protected the psychiatrist rather than listening to my concerns or helping me find a reasonable solution. I felt that no one was willing to advocate for me or take my concerns seriously. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this practice to someone looking for compassionate and patient-centered mental health care. My impression, particularly from my more recent experiences, is that the practice has become very busy and that patients may not receive the individual attention and care they deserve. I felt that financial concerns and cash flow were given more importance than understanding and supporting patients. Patients seeking mental health treatment deserve to feel heard, respected, and taken seriously. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at this practice.

If you are looking for treatment for your child take heed. There are therapist, supervisors and managers that will attack a client(child) and parent if you ever try to advocate for better treatment. Staff at every level… in the chain of command are not in a child's best interest. Staff copy paste reports, work together to confirm false perspectives, make dangerous false claims about a child's mental health declining, omit information to make these claims and their reports appear accurate, AND they will deny virtual sessions if you start emailing complaints about a therapist's communication style and lack of communication. The biggest concern is with a new female therapist (started in early 2025) misapplying the PA law about a 14 year's right to make medical decisions for themselves. She will repeat this over and over when a parent tries to be a part of their own child's treatment;ironically, she blamed the child and parent will then when the child did not want to communicate with this therapist because of therapist's communication style. THEN she DENIES virtual because we filed complaints attempting to deflect her inability to engage ONTO THE CHILD! WEIRD! Then suddenly her supervisor (of this therapist) wanted to join IEP meetings... I thought, FINALLY! after a whole year of NOT PARTICIPATING... IT WAS JUST TO SLANDER THE CHILD AND MISREPRESENT DATA AND CLAIM MY CHILD'S MENTAL HEALTH WAS DECLINING, essentially causing more emotional distress on a child and parent.. HOW DANGEROUS IS THAT TO A CHILD's TREATMENT.. HOW DEMEANING TO THE CHILD HOW MANIPULATIVE !!. It was the most concerning experience I have ever had in out of the years I have been going to Concern. But it must be me and my child not at all the new therapist and the new supervisor. I thought it was because I was Spanish and these two ladies were white. Because I NEVER had this issue at Concern until these two people came along- WEIRD! It was one of the best things to have happened because I stumbled upon a diamond in the rough. Now, my child's new therapist actually listens to my child, my child has been able to have me in on some of her sessions, the new therapist is responsive to parent's concerns, NO ISSUES WITH VIRTUAL OR PHONE SESSIONS, therapist participates with the child's IEP and even made recommendations for services in school setting, is helping with IBHS support IN SCHOOL where the child needs it... I WAS SO TIRED OF THIS PLACE and THE SCHOOL SYSTEM TRYING TO MAKE IT SEEM AS THOUGH PROBLEMS ARE WITH THE CLIENT OR IN THE CLIENT'S HOME AND NOT WITH THE SCHOOL AND MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEM.... After my child was removed from these two ladies' care my child feels HEARD. NOW I only need to find a nuerodivergent therapist/specialist- can't find that around these here parts... It is like every where you go round here you find mental health treatment facilities only focuses on pathology while ignoring the environmental and systemic issues that contribute to the mental health of our children today... Trying to get a child tested for ASD or ADHD is difficult- but if a child ain't talking to their therapist and the therapist ain't talking to the parent I guess PEOPLE ARE GETTING PAID TO DO NOTHING . But what do I know .. I am just a poor single mother on welfare. Best of luck to everyone in your mental health journey! Learn your rights, learn how to file complaints with the State Department , find your therapist License number and file those complaints when a provider ain't providing. Then learn how to file your own lawsuits with the Eastern District of PA or else where and keep learning.

This place is great when it comes to therapy. But when it comes to getting a medication evaulation not so great. And this isn’t the first time either. The psychiatrist they have on hand wanted to do another evaluation… and when I mean that like 4 more for meds my son now going to be 6 needs. He has ADHD which we all do. And they want to make sure he definitely has it 😏 even though it runs through all of us through my side of the family. Then they wanted his IEP from school. Was asking me personal questions not even related to my son or his treatment. When checking out he said another 4 weeks. So now I’m waiting another month. I can tell you after searching for almost 2 years this isn’t the news I needed to hear for a child to get help. I requested a different psychiatrist and lo and behold he’s the only one there because the one was retiring today. He’s the same doctor that told me my 12 year old didn’t need any help from Concern or him. After that my 12 year old went to his PCP and got his help and I’m highly grateful for them helping my kids. Have an odd feeling I’m just going to jump through hoops with this doctor honestly not the best place to get on medication or help for that. Because you are definitely going to be waiting for a long time. And it scares me because I don’t think he will be able to put my son on the right medication.

Was on hold for nearly 30 minutes just trying to schedule an appointment. After almost 30 minutes I just hung up. I was just trying to schedule an appointment as a new patient but I guess that won’t be happening.

Only been here a couple times so far, but place seems decent. Staff are all friendly, and I like that they have cloud cloth's over the lights to make lighting more bearable. It is also close to home, which is nice.

I reached out to them through email for help with my son having a new diagnosis he'd never had treatment for and extreme behavior issues. They ignored my email, no counseling or therepy or psych references just ignored… me, and made a report to c&y.. thank God I was able to finally find a therapist for him and do everything we needed without their "help".

The doctor didn't even tell me that she was retiring for my daughter that gives hermit at concern and they also didn't recommend me any other doctor or appointment in the right direction where I can find another doctor… For the medication so now I have to go on my own and search for another therapist for my daughter to talk to and also the doctor that prescribes the medication so this is why I do not like concern cause they do not help you with transitioning your kids into another place where they can handle everything at the same time instead of the parents having to deal with everything themselves and concern not recommending anybody or China but you are trying to help them out to see if they can at least help come to do something or give them blue wave Yo you know there's this institution or this therapist here or these phone numbers or this urgent care that you know will help you with the medication and no they don't help you at all

I went there 4yrs ago. I was doing great and everything. Able to travel and work and drive to and from the appointments. Had a wonderful therapist but the psychiatrist was ok in the beginning until I said that I was… doing great and soon I wouldn't need to see him every two or so much. The following time he completely changed my medication and said I was addicted to tge meds that was working absolutely fine and I wasn't asking for higher doses or even more . I ended up having horrible Agoraphobia, unable to work or travel til this day. His name as he goes by is Dr. V. He took adventage of me bc 1. I have government insurance and 2. He probably was money hungry to put me through horrible suffering. The staff there were amazinh and saw yhis but sadly they probably would see a mental person like me and say oh well the doctor was right. But if something works don't change yhe medication bc now for the past four yrs of my life I live in suffering not able to leave my house but for a short distance. I can't enjoy life like I used to and or get work or get help from the gov bc of dr. V.
