CoveCare Center – Carmel Detox and Rehab Services

CoveCare Center – Carmel is recorded as offering intensive outpatient and outpatient care. The structured element runs during the day and people go home afterwards. Which of these is appropriate depends on an assessment, not on what sounds manageable at the time.

Mental health and substance use are handled together rather than in sequence. Ask what a typical week involves before committing, since the schedule determines whether the program is workable alongside work or family.

Underfunded essential service with some living saints and some people who should consider a career change. I have mixed feelings with my time at cove care. I previously had a review up decrying them as a den of racists.… At the time that was an accurate description of my experience. I went through 3 or 4 case managers. For the first year I was patient and polite. My messages were ignored and my case managers didn’t follow through. I was in profound physical and emotional pain and lost my composure. I would scream and hurl profanities and accusations of discrimination, all of a sudden the help I needed got accomplished in hours not weeks. In retrospect I wish I could have used diplomatic reminders. But I was not able to think clearly through the pain. After a while I landed with a social worker who was the first person actually qualified to deal with my issues. Rather than ignoring me or dismissing my emotions as irrational he reached into the heart of the pain. He treated me with compassion and unwavering understanding. He took the time to hear me out and validate my experiences. Chris treated me as a human and not a problem, something I hadn’t experienced in over a decade. Over time through observations and piecing together comments I came to understand the problem at Cove Care. If you’re reading this you are in Putnam county so you know exactly what kind of place Carmel is. You’ve seen the victims of trauma wandering around in a haze, you’ve probably seen me. For many of us Cove Care is the only game in town. Can you imagine the workload? Do you think Putnam county is forthcoming with financial support? I’ve seen the job postings online, I know what their receptionists get paid. I’ve heard about programs that had to be shuttered and resources that have had to be rolled back. Cove Care accelerated my emotional and psychological degradation. I had one therapist whose callous treatment of me sent me into a depressive spiral. My case managers’ open contempt of me completely nuked my trust in them. One even sent me a text message complaining about me that she had meant to send to her supervisor. But. CoveCare also saved me. Chris reached into the hell scape of my mind ignoring the flames licking his arms and helped me pull myself out. Dr. Branson my prescriber never treated me with anything other than straight forward respect. Never talking down to me or giving a condescending flippant answer. I am on the path to healing. I have a chance to finally live a life. I am far away from the environment that destroyed me and robbed me of my humanity. I will never forgive some of the people at cove care. But I will forget them. But at the same time I will never forget the ones who put a firm hand on my shoulder and treated me with respect and kindness. Whoever you are, I wish you good fortune and hope you find who you need.

BEWARE OF THIS FACILITY!!!! This place was responsible for my MAT medication and failed me. They let me run out of Suboxone and refused to fill my medication and left me in crisis, this Place is not a care team, more… like an, "I don't care team." The only thing they care about is your insurance check. I highly advise you look elsewhere. They will leave you high and dry when you need them the most. I just read all the reviews and it's strangly peculiar that all the reviews are either 5 star reviews from employees or 1star reviews from everyone else.. makes me wonder what kind of bonus they got for the fabricated reviews? Cause I am obviously not the only patient with similar complaints. It's a sad state of affairs when this is one of the very few places i could find in Carmel to get help. I didn't have a car and was practically homeless. I ended up going to Lexington recovery who helped me in every way possible. Most importantly they are great communicating, the Dr called me on the weekend to make sure my meds were right, filled in a timely manner and all my needs were met. If you rely on suboxone or any other MAT/psych meds and are striking out with covecare, I strongly suggest calling Lexington. There's an office in Dover, Hopewell and Poughkeepsie, that I know of. I can honestly say it's worth the effort. Medicaid cab will take you and the receptionist will happily book transportation for you. Now that's care!

I really love our therapist she has been so good. I see other people leaving bad reviews but they do the best they can and they actually want to help, sometimes you have to meet people halfway. They have listened to all… my concerns and tried to accommodate them as much as possible, they also have a really good children’s program. They actually care about the kids

Dummy Account3 years ago

Update 2: 12.23 Tried to solve the issue by speaking to a supervisor. Supervisor was defensive and demeaning. Tried to bring the matter to DSS attention, but I was ignored. An official complaint has now been filed.… Update1: 9.23 This place is a mess and should be shut down by the State. I am afraid to elaborate now and be at risk. But will sure expose them in a future update. 8.23 It is great to be able to post a review with a “dummy account”. I read most of the reviews and they are helpful to know what I am getting myself into. This is a 3-star initial review based on my very first contact with CoveCare Center. The scheduling person seemed genuinely willing to help but wasn’t able to confirm a date and time. Shall we see how all of this is going to transpire and will update this review on the go.

i honestly don't know how the doctors are besides the psychiatrist that had me on medications for over a year. i was unable to make an appointment with a therapist, despite being a patient before (and referred as an… outpatient from the hospital.) when i *was* a patient before, the therapist saw me and forgot to do my intake for 30 mins before she realized. now i have been on a waitlist since march for therapy and they were able to make appointments with me they said since april, but call ONE TIME at the most inconvenient times. every time, i will call back IMMEDIATELY multiple times and it will go to voicemail. i have tried calling every 30 minutes, every hour... nothing works. i was in a cycle of voicemails and calling back for months. i then asked if i can just schedule by email, or if she can just put me in for literally ANY appointment and i will be there because i knew i needed help. no- just calling. it doesnt make sense that in a place that deals with extremely suicidal people that could possibly end their lives, they're unable to get the help they need for months. especially when the person has been a patient before and is on medications that need renewal FROM THIS CENTER... it's insane almost every review talks about how impossible it is to get an appointment. don't come here

This review is about Claudine Sapini. I recently moved to New York from Florida and immediately called Cove Care for my Mental health appointment for my medications. When I went for my appointment she changed my… medications drastically. It was not what we discussed. I picked up my medications and took them as directed. I felt terrible but I continued on with my medications for almost 2 weeks. My anxiety Was 10 plus. I felt awful I was having panic attacks daily and couldn't leave the house. I contacted Claudine about how I was feeling and she didn't care. She was not going to Change my medications she blamed me for how I was feeling and said I wasn't helping myself. She was very defensive and had a major attitude. All this did was make things worse for me. I asked her to transfer me to the front desk and instead she hung up on me. I asked to see another person and at this point in time I am still Waiting to hear from Claudines supervisor it has been a week and haven't heard back. I am still feeling horrible and still having panic attacks and no sleep. I am mentally and physically exhausted. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT you go to this facility. The front desk staff has been good.

This 1 star review is based solely on interactions between myself and Iris Gonzalez. I’ve been waiting for 6 months for therapy which is fine. I’ve been down this road before. But the last 3 months the reasons why… nothing has been accomplished is simply because she ignores clients messages and emails. She forwarded me a link for an intake with another patients name listed. I called and left 2 messages. She never responded and blamed me for the issue after I missed this appointment. This is just the most recent in a 3 month long struggle to communicate with this person. I’ll be going elsewhere for help and I hope they hire someone with a brain and customer service skills especially when dealing with potentially suicidal humans.

I am extremely grateful for the care and attention from all the staff I've come to expect. It is astounding that these wonderful therapists, each with an unimaginable client to therapist ratio, are able successfully… taylor individualized treatment objectives for their clients. We are able to get consistent, engaging, & experienced professionals helping to guide us through the maze that is mental illness. As overwhelmed, underfunded, and understaffed mental health service providers are apt to be, we are a few of the lucky ones. Way too many mentally ill people don't receive and/or have the resources to access this essential health care. They fall between the cracks and are endangered, or have the potential to endanger others. All in all, I can't say enough good things about my therapist, my PA, and all the administrative staff. They have always been kind, professional, friendly, helpful, and most importantly, empathetic. Thank you all!

edit: I emailed as your response to this review stated a week ago. No one has responded to my email. I haven’t had the opportunity to meet with a therapist at this point. I’ve been contacting the person I was told to… contact… since February. It is now the end of July! She said there was a wait list until May. Ok… I have now contacted three times since the end of June, beginning of July. Finally, two weeks ago she asked for info from me and said something would be set up. Didn’t happen. Not sure if I should call or email again. At this point, I feel like a nuisance. Very sad. My son received excellent therapy there about twenty years ago. Not sure where the breakdown is now.

I have the best therapist I have ever had in my 21 yrs of therapy. He really listens to everything. He has a way of pulling parts of my life out of me that I haven't thought about since it happened or that I didn't… realize had such an impact on my life. My Psychiatrist is great too. Listens and remembers everything going on in my life and works with me to get the best medications that work for me. Making appointments are super easy and quick. The facility is nice but it's been closed since Covid started so it's all don't over the phone but they are trying to use other methods and open the facility slowly.

I have been a patient here for years, I was diagnosed with a mood disorder at 13 and continued treatment at cove care, my first thoughts as a patient here was that the doctor only spent 5 minutes with me every… appointment which I thought was unethical. And if I said I wasn’t feeling good “Dr.Branson” would immediately want to give me more medication, not even considering taking me off.. I decided to come of my medication and felt better then I ever had emotionally but then went through some servere physical symptoms and needed time of from work and they said they couldn’t sign a note for me after being a patient there for 5 years !!!! That being said they have no back up plan for patients coming off medication. I don’t think “cove care” cares at all about their patients. Although they do have one amazing therapist “Diana” which I would tell anyone to go to who needs support.
