El Paso VA Main Campus – El Paso Address, Location and Contact Information
The site is at 5001 North Piedras Street in El Paso, Texas, 79931. El Paso County covers this area. The catchment reaches beyond the city itself. Journey time and parking are not trivial details when treatment runs several times a week over months.
Phone ahead about parking, access and what the first appointment covers. Where travel is difficult, ask whether an initial appointment can be held remotely. Reception hours vary, so a call that goes unanswered once is worth repeating rather than treating as a dead end.

If your getting the run around call va patient advocate . & Ask for patient advocate being I was new. When they give you the run around go directly to patient advocate. I had to when I first got here. Now I get a great… service. We vets need to stick together & help each other & teach each other what & where to go to get our medical issues resolved. Not all clerks are good ones some give us the run around but patient advocate can help fix that. Use them to your benefit! & Your vet buddy
Most staff are friendly and courteous☺️
The worst VA experience i have ever experienced. I came from west palm beach VA and the service is night and day. You will die before hearing or seeing someone in el paso. I recommend anyone that comes here to move far… away from this hospital. Absolute dog shit service and impossible to talk to someone all they recommend is community care but the files are within the VA health care so anything you need cant be done because documents for treatment cant be shared
Awesome
EXCEPTIONAL great care and doctors. Friendly staff. Schuled appoints.
As a Navy veteran, I am always treated with the utmost respect
I am writing this as a warning to fellow Black American veterans. Having received care at VA facilities across the country—including in very diverse cities—I can say that the El Paso VA is the most hostile and… inadequate system I have ever encountered. My experience here has not only been subpar; it has actively harmed my physical and mental health. The racism here is systemic and intentional. It is often masked as 'professionalism,' but for those of us who know better, it is unmistakable. Because I understand Spanish, I have personally seen how staff use it to belittle Black veterans, withhold proper care, and ignore our medical needs. In my experience, the staff of Mexican descent are the most hostile, followed by non-American-born Black staff who have shown deep racial bias toward Black Americans. The white staff also contribute to this toxic environment. Beyond the neglect, this facility is not safe for Black Americans, especially Black women. They will lie to your face, deny the existence of services, and refuse to perform the duties they are responsible for. They consistently prioritize protecting their own staff and systems over the safety and rights of the veterans they are sworn to serve. If you have any other options, use them. Please, research everything, get second opinions, and protect yourselves—you cannot rely on the VA in El Paso
Been fighting a pain in my abdomen and chest for 9 months. The far east va just tells me to schedule my own appointments and plays it off because im a male. So i go back to this main va and the lady aubela in reception… laughs at me and says the best the can do is one month oit for a scan. I tell her if a female with a bump comes in they wouldnt make her wait a month. So i get seen after her slowly going to her supervisor. I then go to make a complaint with the patient advocate got handed a piece of paper and told to fill it out and wait i waited an hour no one comes to see me. Then that night couldnt breath, chest pains, had to go to william bomont to get help and they did. Now today i go back for my reading thatcwilliam boumont sent to the va and made an order for me. Get to the 4th floor great reception and great rn and doctor. Doctor explains alote of medical issues hexis seeing and wants a test. So since i had to go get my fit test he says he can make my appointment or i can since im heading down to the 3rd floor. I go to aubela again and im probably spelling her name wrong but shexsays my next appointment can be one month out. I saw well thats not good seeing my condition isnt getting better and she rolls her eyes and says that iscall the va can do. Her co worker rolled her eyes at mr ehile im standing there trouble breathong. My wife was pissed at this show of disrespect and we both left. The whole 3rd floor reception staff for the xray department needs to be fired point blank. That department thinks its ok to disrespect vets . I hate having to deal with these receptionist and that is why i would rather possibly go critical than talk to those people
Fire everyone and hire new ppl
Whoever you got answering that phone was super unprofessional. The guy does not sound like he wants to be there and just says I don't know. He responded with "well people usually just come in to do that." And then when… I asked him if he can transfer me to somebody who maybe has the answers because I guess he doesn't even know how it works or if he did he didn't want to give me the time of day. He said "yeah I can transfer you but they're probably not going to answer." And he transferred me. The registration office picked up right away and got me all registered within a matter of minutes. The agent was really great and helpful I think her name was cash or something like that. But that first guy sounds like he hates his job and doesn't care to be helpful. As vet calling in for help or assistance, that fist contact needs to be compassionate and caring because you don't know what's going on on our end.
I am excited about the various Whole Health Lifestyles programs available at the VA.
The Veterans Affairs here in El Paso, Texas has been so amazing to me for the well over 30 years. I have both worked at the VA and I also have a Primary Care Provider there as well. Both experiences have been wonderful.… My doctor is Dr. Madrid and he is knowledgeable and takes the time to listen to you. I have been on numerous appointments to rule out certain medical issues on things that could be fatal if not found early. Dr. Madrid is very good at making sure you get to all of your appointments by having someone to notify you of an up coming appointment just in case you didn't get a notification letter in the mail. The nurse by the name of Jessica works with Dr. Madrid and she is very knowledgeable. She is very polite, and always greet you by your name and is concerned about your well being. I refer to them as the Dynamic Duo. They work well in concert with one another. The two of them make each appointment a professional and pleasant experience. Even when the news may not be what you want to hear, Jessica and Dr. Madrid will give you the news in a way that you can accept it. They will answer all questions so that you understand what's happening to your body and what procedures will be necessary to bring about a desired outcome. Dr Madrid and nurse Jessica makes a good team and I trust them both with my health.
Getting thorough to transportation is horrible.
The pharmacy at this VA is horrible. 1st, the staff is rude and hang up on you when you politely tell them you can't hear them. 2nd, I travel a lot we have 2 homes and I also travel to help care for a family member in a… completely different state than our 2 homes, any other VA medical center has always been helpful when I have accidentally left my meds at a different location and sent me enough to get me through until I can get my meds sent to me. This pharmacy refuses to help. Due to an emergency my trip was extended and now I will run out of medication.
Love this place and everyone is amazing
