Worst experience I’ve ever had. Staff is very rude and nasty!!!! And nastiest building. I’ve been in plus there’s a girl‘s house for php couple houses down from them men’s house there is a homeless guy that is living in… the backyard. Literally posted up on the house, but they have cameras to watch everything else, but they don’t see this guy that’s living there. This is so Sickening to my stomach how they treat people and go about things I gave the girls and good lawyer and attorney to talk to!!!!!
My experience at Harmony Recovery Center in Charlotte, NC was deeply disappointing and, at times, alarming. During my time there, the housing program connected to PHP and IOP services significantly declined. Multiple… houses were lost, IOP services were eventually no longer offered, and clients were directly impacted by these disruptions. Residents were left confused and unstable during what should be a structured recovery process. There were ongoing concerns about financial mismanagement involving rent payments connected to the IOP housing program. Clients were charged directly for housing while insurance had indicated coverage for certain levels of care. Billing transparency was lacking, and many of us were left questioning where funds were being allocated. The program required clients to obtain employment within two weeks and begin paying rent. Realistically, for individuals who had been out of work, rebuilding resumes, applying for jobs, interviewing, and waiting for a first paycheck often takes significantly longer. If rent could not be paid quickly, clients were forced to leave. There were little to no job placement resources or structured transitional support to help people reenter the community successfully. When the program ended, clients were not assisted with securing alternative housing. Many were left to “figure it out” on their own, and several individuals ended up homeless. I personally knew someone who was discharged back to the streets and later lost his life. Another individual passed away while in housing. These situations deeply affected many of us in 2025. Staff turnover was high, corporate restructuring led to mass firings, and there were not enough qualified staff members to meet the demand of the services advertised. The environment often felt chaotic rather than therapeutic. Recovery requires stability, transparency, and real support. Unfortunately, my experience was marked by instability, financial pressure, and lack of accountability. I strongly encourage anyone considering this facility to thoroughly research, ask detailed questions about housing stability and billing practices, and explore other treatment options before making a decision.
I had a very disappointing experience at this rehab center. While the facility itself seemed decent at first, the care provided, especially by the lead tech, was completely unacceptable. The tech Leo displayed a… complete lack of empathy and professionalism. Instead of offering support or understanding, they belittled clients and were often dismissive of their concerns. There were multiple instances where they lied about clients' progress or actions, which created unnecessary tension and confusion. To make matters worse, the center fails to provide key aspects of recovery support. There are no case workers, no daily medical staff on-site, and absolutely no post-program support to help clients transition back to life outside of the center. It felt like once you finished the program, you were essentially on your own. The group sessions were bland and unstructured, with little to no thought put into them. Instead of being a place for meaningful discussion or therapy, they often resorted to just showing movies, which felt like a waste of time. There was no real effort to address the individual needs of the clients. On top of all that, it became clear that the center was more focused on making money than actually providing the services they advertise. What was promised in terms of therapy and individual support was either unavailable or rushed through. Overall, I would not recommend this center to anyone in need of serious recovery support. There are much better options out there with professionals who genuinely care about their clients and their progress.
It took me nearly a year to fully realize that Harmony was a complete and utter failure as a treatment program. The group sessions were chaotic, poorly structured, and dominated by constant one-upmanship rather than… healing. The therapy provided offered little to no meaningful support, and in some cases actively worsened my condition. Harmony falsely claimed that my insurance would no longer cover continued treatment, despite the fact that I later received official documentation confirming that coverage was still valid. As a result, it took almost a full year for me to finally receive proper and effective mental health care. One therapist not only failed to provide guidance but actively encouraged unhealthy behavior, offering no real tools for recovery. Another therapist made deeply troubling statements — criticizing the treatment of women in Islam while simultaneously expressing approval of physically beating children with belts. This contradiction was alarming, unethical, and completely inappropriate for a mental health professional. Ironically, what ultimately helped me recover was not the program, but my conversion to Islam, which provided structure, meaning, discipline, and stability during one of the most difficult periods of my life. Today, I am back in school and rebuilding my future — despite the harm caused by this program, not because of it. The housing conditions were equally unacceptable. Residents were treated with disregard and neglect. Heat was capped at 70 degrees in the middle of December, leaving those who could not afford space heaters at risk. The beds provided were uncomfortable and inadequate. Overall, residents were treated as burdens rather than human beings in need of care. Based on my experience, this facility should be shut down. The level of neglect, dishonesty, and incompetence is dangerous, and the way people are treated is unacceptable.
If you're reading this right now and addiction has taken over your life — stop and read this for a second. I used to think I didn’t need help. I thought I could do it on my own. I thought nobody understood what I was… going through. But the truth is… I needed help more than I ever realized. Coming to Harmony Recovery Center was one of the hardest choices I’ve ever made — but it’s also one of the best. The staff here aren’t just employees — they’re in recovery too. They’ve lived the chaos. They’ve felt the pain. They’ve fought the same fight most of us are fighting. They’ve been in our shoes — and because of that, they don’t judge us… they *get* us. They sit with you in the dark moments. They guide you when you feel lost. They push you when you want to give up. And they remind you every single day that recovery is possible. They’ve been a huge part of my journey, and I don’t know where I’d be without them. So if you’re out there struggling, using, or believing you’re too far gone — listen: You’re not. You CAN get clean. You CAN rebuild your life. You DESERVE a future you don’t want to escape from. And if you don’t know where to start — start here. Make the call. Walk through the doors. Let someone help you save your life. It’s helping save mine. 💙
Where do I start, first let me say finding mental health help for my husband was an extreme challenge being that he doesn't have true substance abuse issues. However, when I was placed in contact with Harmony Recovery… Center OMG! Ms. Evelyn Contacted me, and she had done all the leg work on her side and let me know in detail all that was needed from me to get my husband admitted. Needless to say, the transition was smoother than butter! In a matter of hours not days he was in! They stayed in contact with us through our travels. The staff was super welcoming and supportive! Honestly Ms. Evelyn has made this whole experience for me one of comfort and ease! It's never easy to leave the ones you love in the hands or care of strangers whether they are professionals or not, but Evelyn took all that away with her kindness, willingness to go above and beyond, her compassion, her empathy. All-in-all.... she is AWESOMELY AMAZING! Thank you, Ms. Evelyn, and the entire Harmony Recovery Center Staff
I am truly grateful to be housed at Harmony Recovery Center. From the moment I arrived, I have felt supported, respected, and genuinely cared for. A huge part of that positive experience is thanks to Evelyn Dillard, who… is an outstanding housing director. Evelyn goes above and beyond every single day to make sure everyone here is safe, comfortable, and heard. She treats residents with compassion and professionalism, always taking the time to listen and respond to our needs. Her dedication to helping people rebuild their lives is clear in everything she does, and her leadership makes Harmony feel less like a facility and more like a community. Thanks to Evelyn, this experience has been not only healing, but truly life-changing. I’m grateful for her kindness, guidance, and unwavering support. Harmony Recovery Center is a great place to be, and Evelyn Dillard is a big reason why.
Great place and great staff my experience with harmony was great they helped me reach a new level of confidence
Evelyn Dillard helped me get into treatment here at Harmony Recovery Center and it was a great choice. She has supported me and guided me through out my treatment. I couldn't ask for a better support system.
My experience with Harmony House has been very positive for the most part. The facilitators Brad, Teia, Gail, Michelle, Byron, Sara, Antonia, and Jarod are all incredible. They truly take their job seriously and do it… with love. The coping mechanisms I’ve learned from have truly helped me. I would recommend these facilitators to anyone looking for mental health support.
This place has saved my life. It helped me get my life back together. It's helping me with my mental state and my way of thinking. The staff is amazing. Richie and Stephanie do what ever they can to help. I recommend… this place to everybody I know and meet. Ms Peggy got me into this place when I needed it the most. And I owe my life to her and a few other people here. My husband and my mother in law are going to be here soon.
It was my second time at harmony and I basically had to fend for myself the entire time I was there. My case manager barely helped me out and was finding resources that were not useful to my needs.i needed help to find… housing and did not receive any help with that either. Overall the experience gave me more anxiety and frustration. Staff and facilitators were good though.
My journey with Harmony Recovery Center didn’t end after treatment—it continued through the incredible support of their Alumni Program and Family Liaison team. The connection I built with the staff, especially Peggy… Lombardo, made a lasting impact on my recovery and personal growth. Peggy has been a true anchor—compassionate, consistent, and genuinely invested in each person’s journey. She goes above and beyond to ensure that alumni and their families feel seen, supported, and part of a community that truly cares. Whether it’s staying connected, providing resources, or just checking in when it matters most, the alumni program has been a vital part of maintaining sobriety and staying grounded. Knowing there’s someone on the other side who truly understands means everything. I’m incredibly grateful for Harmony’s continued care and the strength of the alumni network they’ve created. It’s not just a program—it’s a lifeline.
Would not recommend. I attended Harmony Recovery Center purely for mental health treatment for anxiety, depressionand trauma. I am a social worker in another state and was mystified by the operations of the facility. I… was told things were different than they actually were upon my arrival particularly regarding phone accessibility in your first few days, not being informed to pack/bring certain items that were not provided by facility, being allotted only $60 per week for food (dinners and meals on Sunday's), etc. Staff did not provide guidance as to a daily schedule, processes within the facility and program or just a welcoming presence unless asked. Meals "catered" while I was at the center included meatsauce and spaghetti with minimal meat sauce, cereal for breakfast or oatmeal, and a turkey and ham wrap with chips. The groups facilitated at the center were less than helpful as well (group rules were not followed, patients slept or were disruptively in and out of group leaving only a few individuals engaged and staff seemed vastly unprepared and ill equipped to facilitate the length of groups offering little structure). There were significant concerns of certain staff members transporting patients to and from the center by several patients as staff "raced" the vans from the center to the housing area at significantly higher speeds than the speed limit all while playing extremely loud rap music on the radio and blasting the horn. Mental health patients were in the same housing as those dealing with addiction which made for difficult dynamics. Several patients were smoking crack in the housing areas and the only consequence was there phones being taken away. I felt unsafe and the environment was too chaotic for someone seeking solace and help for mental health issues. I went an entire day without a medical medication that I brought from home and was approved that the center chose to regulate but not provide as prescribed. Much was in disrepair at the housing center including broken furniture and broken appliances. Additionally housing was located in an unsafe area with drug activity one street over. Again, I felt unsafe and that this entire experience was extremely unhelpful for my mental health.
Absolutely one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. They only care about money, not the clients or your recovery. I attended a mental health IOP program here and my mental health had never been worst than when… in the program. I had to get a therapist outside the program to deal with being in it. (I had to complete the program to be eligible to return to work.). They change the completion date constantly and never inform you. I was told on 6/5 that I was being discharged 6/6 when it was originally 6/23. Was I told by my therapist on-site, doctor on-site, or case manager? NO! I found out from one of the lab techs who happened to see me in the hallway and congradulate my on my "big day tomorrow". There were only (2) case managers for the entire facility which meant you were never able to talk to them. I met with my case manager twice, once on the day I enrolled, and the next time on the day I discharged. To contact case managers you had to literally write on a form, put it in thier inbox, and then they would write a response on that paper and give it to you while you were in group within 48 hours. The IOP program I was in was at 21 people at my time of departure. Many times I came to group just for the facilator to show a movie. I only saw the doctor twice in that time of my program duration (60 days). You will have to practically make a scene to be heard by anybody. They took over a month to get a "letter of presense" over to my job. I had to ask multiple people day in day out to be able to get the document. I have since completed the program on 6/6 but as of today, 06/15, my work has still not recieved my letter of completion and release to go back to work. I am at risk of losing my job of thier incompetency. Whatever you do avoid this place at all costs. This is only the issues I experienced. Others I was in the program reported not being provided thier meds for weeks and severe issues with the housing. I was thankful enough to manage my own meds and not need housing. They literally make it so difficult that you are pushed to brink of exhaustion, which results in alot of relapses. Relapses means people are in the program longer and more money in thier pockets. That is thier ONLY goal, money. I could list so many more issues but these were just the top of my grievances. STAY FAR AWAY.

I have to shout out Peggy Lumbardo for all if her sincere love snd… support!! If it were not for her i may not have decided to go back to the place that feels like hime
Ms Peggy is the best and most caring person and very one on one very motherly I can’t think of enough words to describe her but when I talk to her there’s a huge since of calm thank you Peggy I mean tht from the bottom… of my heart
Harmony saved my life! The people working there are fantastic, a few of them by name are Richie, Peggy, Grace, Dr. Rob and Tara! These people are actually there to help and have been in my shoes. I can't ever thank this… place enough!
I was in pretty bad shape and at one of the lowest points in my life, when I decided to reach out to Harmony Recovery Center. I feel that my experience there saved my life and started me on my path toward healing. After… contacting HRC, Ms. Denice immediately reached out to me and encouraged me to join the program. Ms. Peggy was very supportive while I was struggling to make the decision to attend Harmony and while I was attending the program, and still continues to be. I was welcomed into the Harmony community by Dr. Laurie, the Clinical Director, and Jasmine, my intake manager, and I immediately felt safe in the warm friendly atmosphere there. I appreciated that the program provided housing, since I was coming from out of town. Of the many counselors and facilitators, I owe a special thank you to Dr. Rob, who encouraged me to stick with the program even though it was tough and who gave me so many insights into my struggles. At one point I was totally ready to take off, and Dr. Rob said, “I think you have been running your whole life and you need to push through this.” To which I said, “Ok, Dr. Rob, I’m going to trust you on this one.” And I’m glad I did. Roxanna was so sweet in having her door open always to provide a little TLC whenever something was troubling me. I think what some of us really needed was to have someone in our corner that we could trust. It is very difficult for me to trust anyone. And Ms. Gail was the amazing leader of many of our group sessions! Everyone loves Ms. Gail. My absolute favorite part of the program was having the opportunity to tell my life story in a small group, where I felt both seen and heard and maybe for the first time in my life, understood. I was also inspired by hearing the other client’s life stories and experiences and seeing their strength in having overcome so many obstacles, even before joining Harmony. I was thankful for the behavioral techs, who drove us everywhere and provided so much support and security during the evening and night hours at housing. They were always willing to listen and provide any assistance needed. There were too many wonderful people to list here, but I give a special thanks to Ms. Sharone, Ms. Kay and Kai, who helped pull me through. Many of the staff are in recovery themselves which gives them compassion and empathy for us because they remember being in our shoes at one time and have a great deal of wisdom from their own healing journey. I feel that Harmony is the perfect name for this program. This was my safe haven in the midst of a storm. I loved the diversity there with both the staff and clients. They had people from all over the US, of different backgrounds, ages, and ethnicities. If you’re struggling, this is the place to come and there’s no time like now to begin. Just a little suggestion, if you decide to come: many of us brought comfort items, like our own blanket, pillow or towels to make us feel a little more at home; hobby or craft items, like drawing, knitting, etc. I like to cook, so I brought a few extra kitchen items.
Honestly, the only part I enjoyed was the alumni, BIG SHOUTOUT TO BRAD (therapist), GRACE (front desk) Ms.KAI (staff) and CORNELIUS (staff), also ABSOLUTELY LOVE ALUMNI AND MS.PEGGY!!!
Overall a great experience great counselors and techs. Peggy lombardo also reached out for alumni information and to make sure I was doing well. Thanks! Peggy.
I called and Got Logan on the phone.. one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me.. My insurance wouldn't let me go there but they still found me the help I needed.. Ty soooo much Logan and AJ for helping in… my next step in recovery.. you guys are the greatest.
Harmony was a great experience for me. They helped regulate my medications, improve my communication, and taught me valuable coping skills. The people I met during my time were most encouraging and helped me see to… successfully finishing the program.
Very good place the staff take care of you overall this is an amazing place
