Came here 3 different times. First time was in 2009 or 2010 and the place was amazing. So many different programs and u actually got to go work out or play kickball out on the field. Food was amazing too. Second time I… went a couple of years later and everything took a hit in quality. 3rd time was a joke. So much in disrepair. I told them when I came in that I couldn't take antidepressants or mood stabilizers because they do the exact opposite of what they're supposed to do to me and make me freak out. Dr prescribed me some stuff and lied right to my face about what they were. Couldn't figure out why I was feeling so bad and freaking out. Requested all the information on all the meds they gave me. To my surprise she put me on a mood stabilizer and an antidepressant. I immediately go and call that dr. Out on it and she tries flipping the script and tries to have me committed to a mental facility because she got caught. I had to take an ambulance ride to this facility where as soon as they see me and talk to me they said no he doesn't need to be in here u just need to listen to him about his med history. So they send me back and tell them they won't admit me the dr. Says well were going to send u to a different place in the morning. I just left clearly she was just trying to cover herself for getting caught and then called out.
Very disappointed that the center dropped the ball with my client delaying her engagement with the program. Now despite it being their error they have said they cannot take her due to capacity.
1. Food is good. 2. Counselors are amazing. 3. This place is a 2 week place.
I appreciate all the loving staff at Brighton. This is the place you want to be, if you want to recover. It's clean, classes are phenomenal, nurses, doctors, therapists, milieu techs, med techs, environmental services,… everyone is great. Aftercare here is also wonderful. Update: they are wonderful until you need them again. I called yesterday, they were suppose to call back. I haven't been there for 3yrs. I needed help. Today no response. Tried calling back, no response. I had been seeing a therapist after she quit there. She only had terrible things to say about the place that they weren't up to updated treatments. I just want to get better and I would hope they could help. I guess I'm wrong.
4/5 stars, but here's why. I was not an attendee, simply a support person for a friend who decided to cut his stay short, but here is what I can say from being a person limited on the outside. 1.) The amount of ability… they give to allow for the family member to contact their loved ones is great! I was astounded by the high allowances of connection they give to those who are admitted. It's a huge plus, which is shocking but greatly appreciated. 2.) Every person there was kind but committed. I got the vibe that they were there to do a job, and do it well, but without being rude. I could tell there was compassion here for the people they take in. 3.) They have rules that are relatively strict, as is true of most rehab facilities. 4.) They were clean, and offered as many amenities as they could given that insurance covers those who stay there. It does feel hospital-ey, but it is owned by a hospital, so no real major un-expectations there. MY ONLY COMPLAINT: the heat and A/C in the building seems to be lacking. It seems the facility is well worn, and could use a re-up. It gets hot in there in the summertime, and I can imagine it would be difficult for me to sleep there. Apart from that, I have zero complaints. I feel this team of people did the best they could given the circumstances, and I appreciate their dedication to their jobs.
We were in the check in process for my husband, he had his blood work, covid test and vitals taken. We filled out our paperwork when we were told he tested positive for COVID. The nurse said, you need to leave, see you… in 10 days. We literally walked out is shock. NO Direction, no supporting paperwork for suggestions with withdrawals. If you are there at the center, ready to check in to help with your alcoholism and you are asked to leave because of covid (which we understand the reasoning), but nothing as far as suggestions how to deal for the next 10 days. No follow up call, NOTHING. I am very very disappointed.
This treatment center is a truly safe space with a compassionate, informed staff. Everything you need to support you through this piece of your recovery journey is here.
My mother, who is a 40 year alcoholic was denied admittance after a phone screening and a mandatory hospital visit to determine wellness. They said they wouldn't take her because of medicare criteria. I strongly suspect… they denied her because she has medicare and they don't receive as much revenue compared to private pay or normal health insurance. Incompetent staff who determined they knew the severity of her addiction better than myself who's been dealing with it for 40 years. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS FACILITY.
I have to agree with the person that posted this facility is about collecting a paycheck snd not serious about recovery. As well as the statement about this facility having no long term plan. My dads been in and out of… this rehab 5 times this year because it's the only thing his insurance covers. They don't have legit psychological help either. His "buddy from work back in the day" is who they had hired to be the therapist on staff which just spent time talking about the good old days instead of actually getting him help he needs. He was addicted to alcohol and oxy so bad back in 2014 that insurance then paid to fly him to a facility where he "died" was on a ventilator... woke up sober thinking hey... I got 30 days in and they were like nope.... day 1. And they REALLY worked on his addiction and therapy. He was required to be there at least 90 days. It was the first time ever in his life he was sober and stayed sober for years. He went to Brighton for help. Instead the do the "we legally have to have him detox here so he doesn't die and insurance covers" and they kick him out and he's immediately back to drinking. No longer term solutions. Last time the doctor (I want to use the term doctor lightly) told him to take all these vitamins that were supposed to help. Specialty things I had to order for him because at rehab he was told he should take. They didn't take into account if it interacted with his prescriptions or his liver/kidneys. I ordered. Money down the drain... guess who just spent $125 on alcohol and drove his truck drunk? Hasn't been caught. No DUI's.... I'm trying everything in my power to get him help/keep him from harming others and this rehab is a joke. They don't even speak with the family like the other rehab did to find out everything happening at home. I've notified local PD. I have him on tape days and days of him just obliterated out of his mind laughing how the PD so dumb he drove past 2 of them and threatening his families life... he was in the military military. I grew up hearing how he could easily harm with anything didn't need certain objects. Living with the stress. Trying to get an addict proper help. And not being able to truly do anything until he either harms us or others where it's "too late". The families and innocent humans in public that have to suffer at the hands of an addict for anyone to actually take serious is disgusting and disheartening and I'm beyond my breaking point. Al-anon is a joke because yes we get support from others dealing with addicts and addiction is a disease but the truth is.... none of these places truly care and our laws don't protect the innocent they just continue to give others loopholes to harm. There's no prevention.... just clean up. There's no real help.... just payday for those banking off others suffering.
Brighton recovery center saved my life. Highly recommended for treatment and the food is good 👍
Please Read This Before You Choose This Facility Warning: This Place Cares More About Money Than Recovery • Meds pushed on everyone immediately • No real long-term recovery plan • “Holistic” approach is garbage • No… support for life after treatment Brighton center for Recovery profits off people’s pain. Don’t fall for the nice website or fancy terminology. If you want a real chance at lasting sobriety, go somewhere that actually gives a damn. This place is a complete joke. They slap the word “holistic” on everything to make it sound legitimate, but their approach is nothing more than sedation and surface-level support. The first thing they do is throw every single patient on Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), along with antidepressants, anti-anxiety meds, and sleeping pills—regardless of individual needs. Not to help you heal, but to make you easier to manage. They claim it’s to “provide a safety net” or to “aid in early recovery,” but it’s really about numbing addicts into submission instead of helping them push through the hard parts of withdrawal and begin real transformation. There’s no structure. No individualized treatment. No timeline for actual healing. Just group therapy, yoga, and music sessions that might look nice on paper but do absolutely nothing to prepare someone for staying sober in the real world. Worst of all—there is no true long-term recovery planning. You leave without tools, goals, or a realistic plan to re-enter society clean, stable, and self-sufficient. And that’s the point. They don’t want you healed. They want you coming back. Or worse—replaced by the next person with decent insurance. Long-term sobriety is absolutely possible—but not at places like this.
They will just keep billing you. Don’t waste your time or money.
This place was a pivotal part of my recovery journey. I was here twice, once in September 2019 and once in March 2023 (which was my last time in rehab). I’ve been to several different rehabs all over the state and I’ll… say this: Brighton isn’t the nicest facility, they don’t have the best food, but Brighton has THE BEST therapy, therapist, and THERE is where you get some of the most one-on-one time with your therapist. They give you real thoughtful work to do on your own and hold you accountable to change and doing the work if you say you really want it. Their IOP is Amazing and the sessions lead by Mo changed my life. Dudes awesome 👏 Anyway, never a fun experience but 100% would recommend.
I Was a patient here 5 years ago I started drinking at the age of 14 and got into other stuff at 19. I didn't know how to live life without a buffer Brighton gave me the tools to begin the recovery process I am still… clean and sober after a horrible detox from barbiturates and Suboxone, I am thankful and grateful everyday that I made the decision to call and ask Brighton for help. Even after being shipped out to the hospital after 2 weeks they let me back in and gave me the tools and advice to start my recovery process. Thankful and Grateful ❤️
Program doesn’t work! I’d love to see state records on the percentage of return patients. I’ve been there 5 times, I have seen repeat patients there each time (some 10+ times). They push AA and God… only 5-10% success… rate of AA. Programming and material hasn’t changed in 10yrs that I saw. The staff is amazing! Most notably, Vic and Jen.
Worst experience ever! The way they treated my husband was deplorable! I took him in for admissions thinking I left him in the greatest place..on the contrary it turned out to be worst ever. They release my husband… after his detox because he required too much care. They knew what they were going to deal with and accepted him into the program. During his week stay he called the place the gestopo, saying his therapist had it in for him. , One week into his stay I received a call from my husband on speaker phone along with a nurse and his therapist. They called to tell me he had one too many issues (all side effects of alcoholism) and that I needed to come get him in the morning. They gave me less than 24 hrs to get him. Their excuse is ridiculous, lacks compassion, empathy, caring, concern and shows their true motive. Money! The staff that called were rude, inconsiderate and condescending to me on the phone i can only imagine how they treated my brain injured husband. When I went to pick him up they basically walked him to the door and said good luck. Seriously how does abandoning a patient help them recover??? They offered him some virtual recovery as if that would work. He came home and started drinking again sadly. I blame them!! I was looking forward to visiting and learning how to help him at home after the program. While reading through his paper work I came across statements written by the therapist Sandra J. that were totally false statements and down right lies. She wrote that I'm an alcohol and am not interested in the family participation class or in supporting him in his recovery etc.. I am not an alcoholic, I had already signed up for the class and I support my husbands recovery 1000%. Im curious why the staff there doesn't?? Why they abandoned him in this very difficult process. I would never recommend this place because of their lack of empathy and caring.
Best experience for recovery in the state in my opinion. Food is great, plenty of activities, outside time, basketball and other enjoyable options. The classes were amazingly enjoyable and informative. The staff and… cooks were always helpful , kind. They offer AA or NA meetings. If you’re struggling with any substance abuse you owe it to yourself to at least check them out. Don’t hesitate to start your journey to sobriety. You’ll thank yourself later.
I called to schedule a consultation for a possible IOP or even an in patient program. A woman named Sue denied my request for any in person consultation because of covid. I have insurance, and funds to pay for my… treatment. I don't have covid, but I am an alcoholic. Thanks for turning me away Sue. I guess I will keep trying elsewhere.
Brighton is a wonderful place for recovery. Unfortunately, I have been to different one's in Michigan and I would only ever recommend Brighton. The staff was incredible.
This place is unbelievable. I got so much great help I'm getting close to my 90 days. But I haven't felt this great in years.
An amazing staff. The guidance they give is so supportive no judgements. Even with the after care therapy. Food was great with healthy choices. Only downside was the cleaning. Bathrooms needs a better job at being… clean. Calcium build up in bathrooms toilets and showers. Ascension Recovery give Great support services. Highly recommend Ascension Recovery Center.
I am eternally grateful for Brighton Center for Recovery. They set me on my path of recovery. The nurses, mileu techs, counselors and staff are incredible humans. They genuinely care and have compassion for those who… suffer from the disease of addiction. All the information and support available there is immeasurable. If you are open to the process and genuine recovery for yourself, Brighton Center for Recovery is the place to be. They have a great program. Thank you Brighton, forever. You were vital in the saving of my life and setting me back on the path I was meant to be on.
Some of the nicest staff you will ever meet. If you need help please come to this place. Nicest nurses and staff in the world.
Just got discharged from this place yesterday (9/24/23). I can't say enough good things about Brighton! The staff and even fellow patients were an absolute blessing to work with and I highly recommend it to anyone… struggling with addiction. They were the best!
