Josselyn Center – Northbrook Detox and Rehab Services
Josselyn Center – Northbrook provides intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Sessions follow a set timetable while people keep living at home. Cost, travel and waiting time are all worth weighing together. Ask whether family can be involved and at what stage.
The focus here is on one side rather than combined treatment, so anyone needing both should confirm what is available. Ask what the assessment recommends before comparing anything else. Waiting times vary, so it is worth asking at the first call.

Several accounts that describe the same thing tell you more than a single strong opinion.
Not good with follow up. Attempting to get an appointment since last week but all they are concerned with is ability to pay and insurance. Unfortunately this is therapy covered by BCBS. Not very empathetic or… compassionate first encounter.
Great counselors, very helpful
Mahogany is one of the best counselors I've ever had. They helped me revise my resume, tailor my LinkedIn profile, decide what jobs are better fits for me, and they taught me not to settle. 10/10 would recommend them to… anyone. Thank you for helping me, Mahogany!
Lauren Pickard came into my life when I was delusional overwhelmed and irrational. She is a beautiful warm loving person. Lauren provides unconditional acceptance and safe space to be who i really am. During our… sessions I get to unwind and know I am valued and my voice is heard and I matter. She helped me to understand my mental illness and crazy behaviors do not define me. I have had an incredibly tough 2 years. I made it through. Lauren is a really an exceptional person.
I have been waiting since June 26, 2025. I had a great intake person on 9/6/2025. But since then I have not heard a word from anyone. I call in last week to see what was going on. I was told give us a week. Ok Now we… are at 4 weeks later and no one can call me?! I call in today at 10:30am and I was told someone will call back within 10 mins and now the time is 2:30 pm no one has called me back. Very poor service. Only got LIP SERVICE and very disappointing after waiting since June, 2025.☹️
My therapist, Lauren Pickard was extremely validating, supportive, and helpful. I truly felt that she had my best interest in mind. She gives wonderful advice and insight. She is kind, thoughtful, and always remembers… what we talk about. I highly recommend her to anyone considering therapy.
Very disappointing experience. Communication is terrible — not just disorganized, but at times downright dishonest. I’ve encountered bold-faced lying, shifting explanations, and a complete lack of transparency. What’s… most disturbing is the total lack of empathy. Rather than feeling supported or understood, I’ve often felt like a burden just for trying to advocate for my loved one. The overall atmosphere is cold and dismissive. It’s as if no one really cares, and you’re made to feel uncomfortable for even asking questions or expressing concerns. Mental health care should be grounded in compassion and trust. Sadly, that’s not what we’ve experienced here.
I've been seeing my therapist, Sophia H. for about 2 years. The guidance and support I've received from her has been life changing. I love that she challenges me in a positive way, at the same time, she's very flexible… with her approach. I always look forward to our weekly sessions, knowing that her kindness and support will take me through the coming week.
I can't say enough about The Jocelyn Center. They have helped me since the day I started in 2023 with various services. I will miss those who have moved on from there, and I'm greatfull for the care I am receiving now.… Thank you so much. TEAM JOCELYN
We used Josselyn for family and (my brother for) individual therapy more than twenty years ago (14 yo and 9 yo). I came back as an adult (40 yo) three years ago and brought my son (7 yo). At this point we both have… weekly therapy over zoom. In addition to that, I use Josselyn for psychiatric support and medication management. The last few years have had many challenges with certain medications. They’ve always worked quickly to resolve them and work through them with me. In addition to all of that, I had a partner who I referred to Josselyn and he has as well. With all of the zoom availability it makes mental health so accessible, regardless of where you are or what your work/school schedule are like. Josselyn is amazing.
Outstanding and compassionate place. Megan and Mike are such phenomenal people highly recommended to anybody
I have been using the Josselyn Center in Northfield services for over 10 years. They have taken excellent care of me, especially my therapist, Lauren Pickard. She is an amazing listener and a dear friend. She has helped… me through the transition of menopause and the mental gymnastics of dealing with this stage of my life. I don’t know where I would be without her, and Josselyn. Thank you so much for helping everyone. My family and I are so grateful for you.
This place is wonderful, I was able to seen very quickly by a wonderful therapist
Potentially drastic case of patient abuse. They will surround you, humiliate you w/o anyone to explain what the hearing was about and if you try to write a complaint it is simply dismissed. I still have difficulty… dealing with the memories of their narcissism.
This place is absolutely HORRIBLE!! Reached out looking for a psychiatrist. They were more than happy to take co-pays, then proceeded to shuffle me around. Met with 2 different therapists, then they tried to switch me… to a third. Then called me the following week to leave a message saying they can’t follow through with services for a made up reason. I’d like to speak to the owner of this trash heap. If this is how they treat someone trying to receive mental health, they shouldn’t be in business.
Lauren Pickard is an amazing psychologist. I’ve ebddn with her for many years and I can honestly say she is the best psychiatrist I’ve ever experienced. I owe her my life. Thank you Lauren! DH
I love that they accepted my insurance and it didn’t take forever to get an appointment. I love the living room option on Saturdays. My 1st therapist with them we were not w good fit but I didn’t have to lapse in… treatment before getting a 2nd one which turned out to be a good match. I referred my daughter and foster daughter and they both were able to get in without long waits and have great connections. I love the zoom and in person option.
Thank you for having me and the welcoming group therapy! Thank you Jeremy-Claude, Itzel and team members!
They tell you they can see you. What they mean is they can talk to you for a minute, then see you in a few months. Wish I knew that before waiting a couple weeks, and driving from hours away.
After my automobile accident I suffered trauma and my therapist worked with me to get back to driving and she also helped me get back on the road. Thank you Josselyn for caring and helping me over come my fear.
Had issues, they help me and I am a lot better. I delt with depression and anxiety for yrs. Got to the point I felt the many councils I felt they got me more stabilized. Not that I am cured but much better than I was.
We've been working exclusively with the Josselyn Center for therapy and summer camp needs for my child. The staff members that I've encountered here have been extremely professional and are some of the kindest people… I've ever met. The therapists and counselors who work with the Josselyn Center and the summer camp program do so much work children and the community. I'm so grateful that my child has been able to establish relationships with staff and make new friends because of Josselyn Center. Extra special thank you to John Cahill and Maggie Nash.
I’ve been going to therapy at the Josselyn Center now for a few months now, and I am extremely impressed and grateful for their services! I not only feel like they listen to me, but they truly try to help you! My… problem has always been anxiety and night terrors. Since talking with the therapist my anxiety and night terrors have decreased tremendously! Thank you for what you do Josselyn Center!
I would not trust my child receiving therapy with Oscar. After reading the other’s reviews, it seems this place has a tendency of being aggressive and I agree with them. They are inexperienced and the students who are… trying to get their hours to be certified seem to have little supervision. When I explained my situation to Oscar, instead of working with us he wanted to wash his hands off and send us off to DCFS. And when he called DCFS on us, the operator told him he had no case. The amount of stress this impetuous therapist put me and my family through has forever contorted my opinion of this so called therapy center.
Josselyn Center is one of the best resources for quality therapy that I've found in many years of therapy. I've seen two different therapists at Josselyn over the last 3 years, and they both have had a huge impact on my… life. Helping me find positive change and uncovering many of my negative beliefs I didn't even know I had. I can't really put into words how much the Josselyn Center has changed my life - and helped to Heal it. Thank you Josselyn Center.
