Newport Institute – Snohomish Detox and Rehab Services

What Newport Institute – Snohomish offers, on record, is residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and sober living. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening. Anyone unsure which level fits should ask for an assessment rather than choosing from a list, since placement criteria exist precisely to make that judgement.

Addiction and mental health are worked on at the same time here. Housing support is listed for the months following a more intensive stage. Ask directly about session times and frequency, as those details decide whether someone can realistically attend.

Newport Institute – Snohomish Address, Location and Contact Information

The facility address is 16227 Railroad Way, Snohomish, Washington, 98296. Snohomish sits in Snohomish County. The site also serves the surrounding area, and anyone traveling in should confirm the route before setting out. How someone gets there matters more than it sounds: travel is one of the commonest reasons a course of treatment stops partway.

Call ahead to confirm directions, parking and what a first appointment involves. If getting there is hard, ask about a remote first appointment. Where no one answers, leaving a message and calling again later usually works better than giving up.

I was a client at the men's Newport facility, and I truly can't think of enough good things to say about my experience. The staff is so friendly and accommodating, the activities and the schedule was diverse and… engaging, and the mental health care was top notch. I owe a lot of my healing and trauma processing to the healthcare workers and therapists of this facility.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I went to Newport's adult residential program last year in Kirkland, WA and it was awful. It was my first time in residential treatment. When I was admitted the adult program had just… opened in Kirkland. I was the first person there and throughout the week more people came to start the program. Since it was all new we were pratically test dummies, which made the experience way worse. The staff is awful. Only a few care coordinators (people hired to watch you, not mental health professionals) were good, the rest were terrible. Me and the other patients had issues with a specific CC named Erica who ended up getting fired for her treatment of us. She lied about one patient not wanting to go to the hospital after breaking their leg, upset another patient to the point they ran off and hid in the yard when it was pitch dark outside, and unlocked the door and walked in on me while I was in the restroom after being told someone was in there. Me and the other patients kept wondering if she would be fired, and I got yelled at by my therapist for asking because "her employment is not my business." It very much is if she is mistreating us. Another terrible part of my stay was when I was having an episode due to one of my disorders. I have a personality disorder and I am prone to breakdowns. I ended up having one while I was there that was very intense. I was yelling, crying, and hurting myself. My therapist, Lecion, was aware of this, and actually stayed past her scheduled time with the plan to calm me down. The catch was, I had to attempt to calm myself down first. At one point I was about to start calming down and I was sitting in the backyard crying. I then looked up at the CC who was out there watching me and he looked me in the eyes and shrugged his shoulders at me. This set me off again, and my therapist ended up going home without talking to me. I wasn't even informed she had stayed until the next day. I only ended up calming down after talking to a counselor who was very aggressive and angry with me during my breakdown. He said he wouldn't talk to me if I'm going to yell, despite knowing I was experiencing intense/heightened emotions. Speaking of my personality disorder, they did not listen to me when I told them I suspected I have it. I had suspected for years that I do, all of my symptoms line up and I have done a lot of research since I was 15 (for reference I was almost 20 at the time of my stay.) It was labelled as a "rule out" and I was told we'd come back to it. They gave me a book on codependency instead and told me that was my issue, but my symptoms don't align with what codependency looks like at all. We never went back to the personality disorder possibility, and instead it was just slapped on my paperwork after discharge. I finally recently got my diagnosis confirmed through the mental health services I currently use. I also got yelled at by a counselor when trying to work out something with another patient. I got angry at the way I was being treated during the conversation and I said "I didn't even want to do this in the first place," referring to the conversation. The counselor took it as me meaning the program as a whole and yelled at me saying I admitted myself there. Me admitting myself wasn't even completely true, I was pressured by my parents to do the program since I had attempted suicide almost two months prior. I did not want to do the program but my parents would not let me get out of it. We were also treated like children, having priveleges taken away like using the computers during rec time, bribing us with treats to get us to participate in treatment and then back tracking and saying that they can only give us what is written in the binders for each level. You go up levels for good behavior and go down levels for bad behavior (usuallt outbursts) which was inevitable considering we were all struggling. I would not reccomend anyone go here. This place is so disorganized and does not provide any real help. Almost two months of my time wasted.
