I've been going to the Serenity and Recovery Ministry on Saturdays for the past 4 years. I found it to be extremely helpful and quite comforting along my journey of recovery. The spiritual sessions shared space with… "The Better Way" a program for recovery. Located at 4601 Sheriff Road Northeast WDC .This property is owned and managed by Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. During the month of February 2026 word was given by the program director that the church decided to terminate The Better Way Program early March 2026. Words can not describe the sick, devastating and feelings of hopelessness we all felt at that meeting. However, we believed we still had the saving grace of the Saturday morning "Serenity in Recovery Ministry" also affiliated with Pilgrims Rest. Thankfully we did, up until May 30th, 2026. When the facilitator of the ministry entered the building to open up for the meeting, she discovered the electricity was turned off. She was never notified by the Church.

Wonderful church with wonderful people. I consider it to be a home away from home. I’ve been going here ever since I was little and before then I wasn’t a member until at least I was 12 years old. Pastor Davis was a… loving a wonderful pastor, but now that he’s retired Rev. Kim and Rev. Connie are the new co-pastors, and they’re just as loving and wonderful as he is. Although I’m still learning and growing in my knowledge of Jesus Christ, it just feels nice to be part of the community we have going on here at Pilgrim Rest which inspires me to come every Sunday just to see wonderful familiar faces. This church is definitely a place everyone should consider coming to, we’re all good people and we have fun.
