SERV Behavioral Health System Inc – Clifton Detox and Rehab Services

SERV Behavioral Health System Inc – Clifton is recorded as offering partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening. The right level of care is a clinical judgement rather than a preference, and an assessment should produce a defined answer.

Co-occurring mental health conditions are addressed alongside substance use, which is the approach the evidence supports. The weekly time commitment varies considerably between providers, so establish it early rather than after admission.

SERV Behavioral Health System Inc – Clifton Address, Location and Contact Information

The facility address is 777 Bloomfield Avenue, Clifton, New Jersey, 7012. Passaic County covers this area. People travel in from the surrounding area, and confirming the route beforehand saves difficulty. Journey time and parking are not trivial details when treatment runs several times a week over months.

Call ahead to confirm directions, parking and what a first appointment involves. If getting there is hard, ask about a remote first appointment. Admissions lines are frequently busiest early in the week, which is worth knowing if the first attempt fails.

Don't reach out for help here!!!! Wish i checked the reviews before calling. I called and asked for help and instead they called the cops and I spent the night in a cell at the hospital, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Just had nearly the same experience as the review by Brian below. My pharmacy called them numerous times for a refill. Getting no response, my pharmacist suggested I call next. I called 1 day before my son's medication… was going to run out. Left an urgent message. No response. I called again the next day, and they decide to tell me that Marcel (my son's provider) left abruptly without notifying his patients. They asked that my son come in within 2 hours to meet the new provider. I told them my son was not in the area so they offered a tele-vist with the understanding that he would have to meet the new provider in person. Within 10 mins I get a call back saying tele-visit is not permitted for first time appointments. I explain the story again! I tell them he took his last pill today and if he does not get a refill tonight he will have withdrawals. They were not listening to my solution which was to call in 1 pill and he would be there tomorrow. This situation is not my fault and we can't just scramble at the last minute for their policy when they wronged us. The right thing would have been to call me with ample time to tell me they couldn't refill because Marcel left the practice and my son would need to see a new provider. Had they done this we could have scheduled an appointment with plenty of time and not let the medicine run out! They absolutely refused. I asked to speak to the doctor. They (the main receptionist) put me on hold for 10 mins pretending to get him. Only to come back to say he's not available, but you can leave a message with the director. I said absolutely not, I need the medication tonight, you are putting my son at risk! The reception then tells me she will not listen to me, she needs to go on her break, she was talking over me, not caring she was leaving a patient to go into withdrawals from not having a medications. Ultimately she hung up on me and left me with no recourse. Horrible Horrible practice. Stay AWAY! No wonder Marcel left! We are leaving too!

Was a patient here for nearly five years. A few weeks ago I realize I am running low on my pills. Call to make an appointment with Marcel. Told that the earliest appointment is two weeks from that date because Marcel… will be on PTO for a week. I tell them my pills, which I rely on, are very low. Receptionist doesn’t care. Earliest appointment is the week after my therapist is back. No back up, no plan B, nothing. I finally call back after two weeks of being off my medication. I’m told that Marcel called me the week before, when he was supposed to be on PTO. Marked me as a “call, no answer”. So now the earliest appointment would be a month from the current date. Told the receptionist I was done with that place, and this whole situation is ridiculous, and she basically replied “ok, fine.” Again, no empathy at all. Been dealing with wooshing and brain zaps ever since. Still no meds, going on close to 3 weeks. Not even a follow up call from Marcel or receptionist to check in. I just found a new therapist, and I have access to a web portal and 24/7 care for the same copay cost. What a difference. Avoid Clifton SERV unless you are super desperate. The receptionists are the absolute worst, and don’t give a literal crap about you. I honestly would give zero stars if I could.

I strongly caution anyone considering this mental health office. My experience with the nurse practitioner was extremely troubling. During my appointment, I was verbally mistreated and rushed, despite coming in with… serious concerns following the recent loss of my mother. My symptoms and medical needs were dismissed, and when I requested a renewal for a critical medication I have been on for cyclic vomiting syndrome, I was abruptly denied and even disrespectfully labeled an “addict.” This decision put me at serious risk, as this medication requires careful tapering, and abrupt discontinuation could have caused immediate withdrawal and significant health complications. Unfortunately, this lack of empathy and professional care extends beyond the practitioners. The office staff and program director failed to advocate for patient well-being or ensure that patients are treated respectfully and ethically. Both the nurse practitioner and the office have been reported to local authorities for these actions. I strongly advise seeking care elsewhere. Patients deserve providers who listen, treat them with compassion, and uphold ethical standards—not the dismissive and harmful behavior I experienced here.

Absolutely horrible. After 7 years of not having an issue getting a refill they all of a sudden can’t do that. They screw up appointments, then blame you. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I’ll be looking for another… provider.

Called for an appointment and was told someone will call me back next week to take insurance information and set an appointment. Thought it was strange but ok…suffice to say I never heard from them. If this is how you… treat a potential patient, I can only imagine how the actual patients are treated.

Do Not bring your Love One Here! My love one was here for 3 years and he did not get better he got worse. This place is all about the money not about health care. My love one along with others that lived in a group home… end up on drugs and two of the men OD. They have No structure, No bounders or accountability for the clients here, they can do what every they want. The website stated that SERV goal " is to assist the people to live and work sucessfully in their communities, to build more independant and meaningful life outside the walls of an institution." Then why was my love one on drugs when he did not go into the program that way. No education, work or life skills were giving to make his life better. Also in those 3 years the counselors and case manger never stay there for a long period of time. My love one had at least 7 counselors and 7 case mangers. Why so many people come and go from this program. SERV, will take your money and the state's money while destroying your love's one life in the process. Please look for another program that is truly going to help your love one become someone who will be conductive to our society.

They really help a lot; clearly, by doing our part, everything is possible. Two of the girls who are fronted there are extremely kind—Shamanta in the morning and the other in the afternoon, I don't remember her name—and… they are very friendly and always looking for ways to help. I'm so glad I found this place.

The services at this facility are very disappointing. First when I called to make an initial appointment for my son I was told it was an evaluation for 1.5 hours. I made arrangements and pulled him out of school just to… find out on arrival it was a brief intake appointment in a dark room. Then I had to wait over 1 month for an appointment on critical issues I am having with my child which again I was told the appointment would be a hour and half. The NP came on and without even getting a FULL history of my son and within 15 minutes prescribe a heavy medication to us and sent us on our way. This is why people are over medicate because doctors and facilities don't take the time to investigate the best path for patients. Disgusted and disappointed |

This place will make your anxiety worse. The are so bad with paperwork. They tell you to submit your claims to insurance yourself, but the proof of payment paper they give you has all the wrong info. Wrong date. Wrong… diagnosis code. Wrong address. When you go back for a correct copy, it’s still wrong. Good luck having them pick up. I’ve gotten my appointment canceled on me, or the therapist is late. Their system was shut down for like 2 weeks. I am not happy with this place, if you can find somewhere else I think you should.

I have given 4 stars because the staff other then the receptionist idk which one it is, is amazing. The receptionist whoever it maybe I speak to is lazy, inconsiderate and just a plain out liar. I have called over 100… times in a week just 1 day alone was 36 they would pick up and hang up the phone. This is all because I ran out of my meds and needed a refill. Nothing was done even the therapist had to take time out our meeting to tell whoever the lady was to let them know I’m out he has 0 but nothing was done. This is unacceptable and just plain out lazy. She needs to be fired you are only as strong as your weakest link and well that’s it. They even said when I was like if I end up in a mental house that’s my fault right? Yes!! Ohh really because you didn’t do your job it’s my fault. No problem, let’s play that game.

This place was great until they switched over to new management. My therapist is great but the rest of the staff doesn’t know how to treat people with mental illness. They treat you like you shouldn’t be part of… society. Don’t waste your time here. It will leave you feeling worse.

Used to be a good place. Not sure what happened but it is very disorganized. There is no need to lie to a patient. You’ll be surprised how much honesty can make a difference. Now I understand why people are going… elsewhere.

I have been calling for the past month trying to make an appointment and they keep redirecting me to someone who never picks up I called one more time today and told her if there’s any other way I can make an… appointment and they said no and continue to redirect me to the person who never picks up the phone. Im very upset because this is the one of the few places that accepts my insurance and the other few places that do accept my insurance dont pick up the phone aswell!! Its very discouraging especially when you have issues going on with you and no one seems to care or want to help it just makes me want to stop trying

This practice is not efficient with patient care at all. They do not have their patients best interest in mind. Stephanie does not return calls for prescriptions refills even after numerous calls/messages. It gets very… frustrating taking time out of our busy schedules to call this place and no one returns your calls. This being a mental health clinic, it’s very poorly managed. How are your patients supposed to cope without any medical advice? They CAN’T even reach their PSYCHIATRIST!!

I have had nothing but cancelations from there staff. Very dissatisfied with the following through of appointments. We are in a time were help is needed most for me and they were not available as much as I needed nor… when they made an appointment did they follow through, they usually cancelled on me. Then when I followed up and asked why my appointment didn't happen, they had the nerve to say I was a " no show " ??? When I waited by the phone for 2 hours and no one called. This is a mental health facility that needs people who care and not lie about meetings.

I have been coming to Serv for almost a year. Appointments get switched or canceled without any notifications or explanations. My therapist is great, but the office staff needs help. They have still not sent any bills… to my I insurance company since my first appointment.

Easily the worst front office staff of any doctors office that I have ever dealt with. You need to call them several times in order to get them to return your call. This even goes for very important calls like… prescription refills. The therapist I dealt with was great but the front office staff has made the experience of going there a miserable one. I will not be going back. Stay away from this place.

Some of the therapists need more help than the patients here. I was called an aggressive bully when I confronted Ms. Tank the therapist yrs ago for always being about half an hour late each session. The therapist… offered no sympathy when I said I was in pain. Ms. Tank said she has to wait too. I left Serv awhile because the person in charge would not help me. I found out later my friend had an issue with the same therapist and got switched. Everything I experienced and shared was turned around in Ms. Tank's favor. Now Jesse has been very cold and uncaring in dealing with billing claims. Instead of helping the people coming for treatment some of the staff make you feel worse here. I was told the doctor takes my insurance over a year ago several time when she did not. Instead of helping me the billing person was very rude and told me recently telling me it is too late to resolve these claims. The front desk messes up appointments and sometimes forgets to tell the therapist I am there waiting. The office puts me on hold a long time on the phone. I called Serv promptly when rides were a no show and the front desk again did not tell the therapist, so half an hour later the therapist is calling me. We do not have adequate mental health care when we do not have a lot of money or good insurance. This place is built in a somewhat isolated spot with no traffic lights nearby. The cars in front come speeding by and it is hard to cross the street in front. It was obviously built for people who have access to vehicles not pedestrians. @ Serv the staff benefit most. The best workers move on quickly to better paying jobs elsewhere. I have waited months for a replacement worker. If I had more options I would go elsewhere.
