We are so deeply grateful for our experience at Arrow House. Deciding to admit a child to residential treatment is never easy, but the team supported us every step of the way—before admission, throughout our stay, and… even months after returning home. Every detail promised during admissions was accurate, and the team's genuine passion for their work shows in everything they do. This is more than just their job, it’s obvious that Arrow House is their heart and soul. I deeply appreciated working with an in-house team and not a corporate giant. What made Arrow House truly stand out: Warm Environment: A clean, cozy, comfortable facility where my teen felt safe and welcome. I knew my teen would feel at home here. Exceptional Clinical Team: Experienced and caring clinicians who built immediate trust so real progress could begin. Dedicated Mentors & Staff: Mentors who became true supports, and a chef who safely and thoughtfully managed medically necessary dietary restrictions. Every person contributed to this supportive community. Accredited Education: Personalized, one-on-one academics with a teacher (not just watched by an academic “coordinator”) that kept my teen on track without requiring unnecessary online retakes. We didn’t have to waste time un-enrolling and re-enrolling and searching for educational solutions. Intentional & Engaging Schedule: High-quality activities—from surf therapy to substantial weekend outings—nicely balanced with appropriate down time. My teen was kept busy and engaged and I never felt like Arrow House cut corners. Outstanding Communication: Fast, direct text or phone access to the care team and easy phone access to my teen. I never had to wait for Mon-Fri office hours for my email to be answered. Safe, Strong Foundation: In-person nightly NA/AA meetings, strong house supervision, thoughtful house rules and consequences, and the ability to earn privileges kept my teen motivated to put in effort. The program holds kids to high expectations, but it invests just as much effort into the care and programming it provides. My teen went in with hesitation and left with an unforgettable experience and a strong foundation to continue building on. Arrow House set the bar high for quality care, and we are forever thankful. I am now measuring all treatment programs (including aftercare) against the high standard Arrow House set, and so many simply fall short after the strong experience we had. We cannot recommend Arrow House enough.
Almost a year has passed since I was at Arrow House, and I still carry a tremendous amount of anger and resentment toward my experience there. From the moment I arrived until the day I left, I dreaded every second I was… there. I felt unsafe, unheard, and deeply uncomfortable. I repeatedly expressed to staff, supervisors, and my parents that I did not feel this placement was right for me. I had serious concerns about my environment and safety, including concerns involving another client, yet I felt that my concerns were dismissed. Instead of feeling listened to, I felt like the adults responsible for my care continually reassured my parents that Arrow House was where I needed to be, despite how strongly I communicated that I was unhappy and uncomfortable. The environment also felt unnecessarily controlling. We were required to wake up at 6:30 in the morning and exercise at 8:00, among other strict routines. What was especially difficult was the way some staff members spoke to me. I remember being told things such as, “I wouldn’t be surprised if you don’t level up” and “You’re not going to level up because of this.” When I expressed my goals and hopes for myself, I was met with comments like, “Good luck with that,” followed by laughter. Those comments did not make me feel supported or motivated—they made me feel belittled. Every plea to leave was dismissed. Instead of leaving Arrow House feeling supported or healthier, I left carrying resentment, anger, and a profound distrust toward an experience that was supposed to help me. Nine months later, I am still affected by how unheard and powerless I felt while I was there. This was my personal experience, but I believe it is important to share because people deserve to know how a treatment environment can feel from the perspective of someone who was actually placed there.
I’ve worked in the mental health and substance abuse field for 37 plus years. I have a long time working relationship with Visions going back over 20 years ago. Now I am going share something that I think many families… need to know. Visions set the bar regarding high quality adolescent care. Now this is what I want families to know. Visions residential programs are in Malibu, Calabasas, Agoura. These facilities are for the most part cash pays. Are not inexpensive. I’m just keeping it real here. Like 4 or 5 years ago I had two adolescent clients at Arrow House, in Santa Ana. When I walked Into Arrow House, I was greeted by a majority of the Visions Clinical Treatment Team. Then it hit me. Visions Malibu is sending their Clinical Treatment to work hand in hand with Arrow House’s treatment team. The clients at Arrow were getting Malibu level of care, oversight and supervision. Just by having insurance that worked with Arrow was in INN with Arrow House. I have never seen that anywhere else before, or after. Arrow (especially Jacque) are just seriously a cut above any other adolescent programs around. I’ve not had one parent and only one adolescent that have ever didn’t like the quality care of that Arrow House provides.
I have trusted Arrow House for years because of their exceptional clinical care and unwavering commitment to clients and families. They provide compassionate, ethical, high-quality treatment, and their entire team, from… case managers to clinicians, is wonderful to collaborate with. Highly recommend!
Compassionate, caring, well-run facility that is smaller in nature, focusing on highly individualized care. Highly recommend for those (adolescents) in need.
