The Valley – Derwood Detox and Rehab Services
What The Valley – Derwood offers, on record, is residential treatment. A proper assessment sets the level rather than leaving it to guesswork, and it is worth asking for one explicitly.
Only one side is on record here, so ask directly if both are needed. Approved medication is paired with counseling and regular review. It is worth asking how many hours a week the program runs, because that decides whether it fits around everything else.

The Valley – Derwood Address, Location and Contact Information
You will find this provider at 19120 Muncaster Road, Derwood, Maryland, 20855. Montgomery County covers this area. The catchment reaches beyond the city itself. Journey time and parking are not trivial details when treatment runs several times a week over months.

The Valley is a therapeutic, magical environment for anyone struggling with the disease of addiction. The staff is professional and patient and although the location sits on 15 plus acres The Valley focuses on quality… of care rather than a quantity of clients. Mr. Norm is the finest addiction counselor in the DMV. Thank you to everyone at The Valley for a meaningful, memorable 31 days. It’s as close to home as a rehabilitation center can be. Much Love.
I was here a few years ago and boy it has changed my life! The living there is like top tier , the staff are welcoming and easy to talk to, and they have horses to look at... But I now have the longest length of… sobriety I've ever had and I can't thank the staff enough! I still get the pleasure of seeing some of them time to time. I always recommend the valley to everyone! They have the best intentions for you and they will love you untill you learn to love ya self! I want to give a BIG shoutout to some of the staff that helped me along my journey like Vanessa , Brett , Amy , Norm, Casey, and all the techs and everyone else! Thank you guys so much for giving me a chance! - Dmitri
This place is amazing for many reasons. The staff and ownership/management genuinely care about the clients and go above and beyond to help. Almost all of them are in recovery themselves so they understand what we’re… going through. The counselors are also amazing. This place helped me more than words can express and I will always be grateful for my time there.
My time there was epic! Sober since 12/23/2025 and went to The Valley 1/15/2026. They were kind enough to accommodate my service dog, and staff/clients were awesome with him and myself. Came in an Alcoholic and left a… Sober man with tremendous amounts of tools to stay sober. Can't say enough about this place! NEED HELP, GO TO THE VALLEY! THANK YOU ALL! J & J
Spending 30 days at The Valley was the best gift I’ve Ever received!!! The Valley truly changed my life for the better!!! I am 72 days sober today thanks to the counselors, staff, the techs, nurses, and Brett, the… owner!! I am very grateful to all whom were Supportive and Loving during this journey!! I have continued with an IOP Program and Numerous AA meetings, that I have embraced to keep me on the sober path! I Have connected with my sober friends I met at The Valley! Getting together for AA meetings and lunch/dinner has been truly Amazing!!! Love and hugs to all at The Valley!!!
The staff here are amazing, I would 100% recommend The Valley to anyone in need of starting a new way of life! Rachel, Norm and Sara are 3 of the greatest people I've ever met! Love you guys!
Amazing program and staff. They definitely know what works and what doesn't. A shout out from House 5. 😀 Especially some techs and my therapist that can't name names, but thank you all! You're a good man Charlie Brown.
Overall, The Valley Rehab is a fantastic facility. Especially for a program that accepts Medicaid, it truly stands out. They are honest and upfront, and the focus is on your recovery. While the staff provides strong… support, success ultimately depends on your willingness to put in the work and follow the rules. If you do, you can achieve great results. I was discharged from the program because I made the decision not to follow the rules, which I now recognize was a serious mistake. I was very close to completing the program, and walking away from that opportunity was difficult. Still, I remain deeply grateful for the experience. I learned valuable lessons, and the staff and facility are truly wonderful. This experience has helped me grow and reflect on the changes I need to continue making.
This place is truly so special, and it’s hard to put into words just how much it has changed my life. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was met with compassion, patience, and understanding. Every single… staff member from the director to the intake coordinators, case managers, counselors, techs, and nurses showed up for me in ways I didn’t even know I needed. They didn’t just help me get through treatment, they helped me feel worthy of living. I felt a level of safety here that I have never experienced, ever. I was allowed to be broken, to be vulnerable, and to heal without shame or judgment. The Valley is so much more than a treatment center, it’s a family. It’s love when you feel unlovable, hope when you feel hopeless, and strength when you feel like you have none left. Flash-forward 5 months after leaving, I picked up my six month key tag last week. I carry the lessons I learned here with me every day, and the friendships I formed with other fellow clients. Never in a million years did I think I would be here today, clean and sober. There were moments when I didn’t believe I could make it, but The Valley believed in me before I could believe in myself. Because of them, I have my life back, my future back, and a version of myself I thought I would never know. The Valley is truly magical. If you’re scared, hurting, or unsure where to turn, this is the place. You will be met with love, understanding, and people who genuinely want to see you succeed. If you’re looking for a place to go, you’ve found it.
I had issues initially with a disruptive roommate, but it was finally resolved by staff. Overall, it’s a great program & most of the staff are cool!
I was not going to even take the time to write a review, however after seeing the condescending reply to my husband’s review I felt the need to do so. First of all a review is someone’s personal experience regardless of… whether it is positive or negative. After saying that we never misrepresented ourselves, ie, our relationship simply because we were never asked. Nobody explained that an engaged couple are not allowed to seek treatment at the same time. My now husband and I were working an honest program and stayed to ourselves never breaking rules. Our circumstances were dire before coming to treatment and leaving one behind could have had lifelong consequences. I can say I liked the program and am still clean and sober and thriving due to some of the tools I gained at the valley. You only get what you put into to any program and I am still in disbelief that we were abruptly asked to leave at 6pm on a Sunday night with a five minute warning. The valley is a good program with genuine counselors who care.
Great recovery program. They’re very easy to work with and have an extremely professional team!
I really miss the stàff and the clients .. I should of asked for more of an extension but it's ok .. I love all of you and I wish and pray for success for all. Jane B
Place absolutely changed me for the better. They were tough on me when I needed it, and soft and tender when necessary. The property is absolutely gorgeous and unfortunately I’ve been to many places. This is by far the… nicest property in the DMV.
At first I thought this was an amazing place. The staff are made up of mostly former clients so they understand the struggle. However throughout the entire property there are cameras that have mics on them so any staff… who has access to the cameras can be sitting at home with there buddies listening to groups where private information is shared by clients. This is a direct Hippa violation. The director literally spends his entire day staring at the cameras. God only knows where other cameras may be.
I very much so enjoyed my stay at the Valley. It's was beautiful, peaceful and very informational. I learned alot and healed alot. I feel rejuvenated after my experience and ready to live a sober life. Thank you!
My experience at The Valley was exceptional. No other program, in my opinion compares. The clinical staff are top notch and know first hand what client's are experiencing. The facility grounds and housing are… spectacular, meticulously maintained and clean. Upon leaving The Valley, I felt very prepared to continue to the next step and I know that I have an extended family with The Valley. The Valley is "truly magical".
Fantastic program. If you need treatment for substance abuse look no further.
Definitely 5 stars!!!!!!!!! I highly recommend The Valley and this is coming from a knucklehead. Trynn was my counselor and extremely helpful. She is very knowledgeable about recovery and was instrumental in my recovery… while I was at The Valley. The staff at The Valley are the best I've been around. They really want you to stay sober and give you the tools to do so. Justin
I just left The Valley four days ago and I must say I had a great experience. Most of the staff are in recovery and ALL of the staff care about your well being and are very helpful. I would like to recognize Trynn who… was my counselor at The Valley while I was there and Kristie who was my case worker. They both went above and beyond to help me. I wasn't the easiest client and thought about leaving a few times. Trynn always made herself available and helped (talked me off the ledge of leaving) several times. Kristie was also a huge help in assisting me with my step down program and definitely cares about the clients. Thank you Trynn & Kristie !! :) Kevin
The Valley is greatness 💪💪💪💯
The Valley is a top tier treatment center without a doubt. The techs are all mostly in recovery and the counselors are as well . I'm so glad I made the decision to come there instead of a hospital setting place . Brett… really helped me with my meds as it was gonna cost a fortune but he got me an alternative. Roy shared his experience with me and really helped get my program in check . Trynn was remarkable and really helped me realize that I'm worth more than I believed and really let me see my worth.Jessica was also a big help , Everyone that I talked to there was awesome . If u need treatment, this is the place !!!
Don’t knock it until you try it beautiful grounds and a wide variety of staff you will definitely at-least be able to find 1 person on the staff who’s gonna stick with you even after you or your loved ones stay the case… manager Mary goes above and beyond with her knowledge of law , programs , & resources to help set you up for success ! Norm is one of the greatest people you'll ever meet wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for this guy smart real , intelligent and reasonable give the valley a call they got what you need to help !
Anyone looking for treatment should pay attention to the reviews that make sense!! The Valley is full of trained staff, counselors and individuals who care and are invested in our treatment. Making better decisions and… taking accountability are 2 very difficult things to do but must be done to succeed in recovering from this disease! This program has much to offer but you have to be willing to do the work. At times, that work can be very daunting. It’s the staff who shows love, support, honesty , personal experience and guidance to help us thru these times. The program was built with a “home style” feel. The connections between clients & encouragement from staff is on a different level here! You just FEEL IT. Yes, the food is good, tons of snacks & a pool helps! But it’s love and human connection which heals us, makes us content again in our own skin. This treatment center is exceptional in every way. Anyone who claims different may not have been ready (& that’s ok-TV will be there when you are)Thank you from the top all the way down to BHT’s. You all made my experience life-changing and complete!
The valley is an absolutely wonderful place to go if you're looking for help. Everyone there is there for you. Most of the people that work there are former addicts, so they understand what you're going through. Its not… perfect but I wish I could come back for 30 days!
