DUI and DWI Programs in Alaska

Anyone convicted of driving under the influence in Alaska is sent through the Alcohol Safety Action Program, known as ASAP, which the Division of Behavioral Health in the Alaska Department of Health runs. ASAP screens for alcohol and drug use, refers people to education or treatment, and reports back to the court and probation.

The listings here show Alaska providers that report taking DUI and DWI referrals, from outpatient counseling to residential care. Every listing sits within 25 miles of a river, most often Eagle River, and four in five lie within 25 miles of the coast. Details come from government treatment registers, state licensing records, accreditor listings and information the providers send us.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions about DUI and DWI Programs

Answered from what is listed here.

Which Alaska cities have DUI programs?

DUI and DWI programs in Alaska cluster first in Anchorage, then Utqiagvik, Wrangell, Lakes and Eagle River, the communities where court-linked alcohol and drug education gathers. Larger population centers nearby include Anchorage, Utqiagvik and Nenana, so people living outside these towns often look toward one of them when arranging an assessment or required classes.

Rehab Centers in Anchoragehttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/alaska/anchorage-ak/
Does DenaliCare cover DUI treatment in Alaska?

DenaliCare, Alaska's Medicaid program, is accepted by most of the DUI and DWI programs in Alaska. It runs without managed care plans, paying for behavioral health and substance use disorder services on a fee-for-service basis under the 1115 Behavioral Health Reform waiver.

Payment goes only to providers the state authorizes, so before enrolling, ask the admissions team whether the program holds that status and which parts of a court-required program are billed to DenaliCare.

Rehab Centers in Alaska That Accept DenaliCare (Alaska Medicaid)https://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/alaska/denalicare-alaska-medicaid/
Are there DUI programs near a river in Alaska?

Eagle River, the Mayoeak River and the Stikine River are the most-named rivers near DUI and DWI programs in Alaska. Nearly all of the DUI and DWI programs in Alaska sit within 25 miles of a river, and the nearest river lies a median of about 8.3 miles from listed facilities.

Rehab Centers Near Rivershttps://rehabseekers.com/attractions/rivers/

What DUI or DWI program does Alaska require, and who runs it?

Alaska requires every person convicted of DUI to complete the Alcohol Safety Action Program, a case management service run by the Division of Behavioral Health. Under Alaska Statutes section 28.35.030(h), the person must meet the program’s screening, evaluation, referral and program requirements before the case is closed.

The Alcohol Safety Action Program is not treatment itself. Staff screen for alcohol and drug use, send the person to a provider, and track completion for the court and probation. Depending on the screening result, the referral may be to an education course, outpatient care, an intensive outpatient program or a residential stay.

Treatment providers in Alaska need Department of Health sign-off to operate under the Integrated Behavioral Health Regulations, found in title 7 of the Alaska Administrative Code, chapters 70 and 135. Ask your case manager to put your track and completion deadline in writing before you enroll with any provider.
