DUI and DWI Programs in Atlanta

Atlanta drivers facing a DUI case usually deal with two systems at once. The Georgia Department of Driver Services certifies the DUI Alcohol or Drug Use Risk Reduction Program, and Fulton County courts can order treatment on top of it. These listings show Atlanta providers that report DUI and DWI services, plus the clinical care an assessment may point to.

Listing details come from government treatment registers, state licensing records, accreditor directories and information the providers send us. Every listed DUI program here is in an urban setting, at elevations between 720 and 1,020 feet.

Common questions about DUI and DWI Programs, Atlanta

Answered from what is listed here.

Which Atlanta areas have DUI programs?

Atlanta-area listings for DUI and DWI programs cluster in Conyers, Smyrna, College Park, Stockbridge and Belvedere Park, so a search often reaches past the city line into nearby suburbs. When comparing options, check each listing for class schedules, intake steps and how the program records court or licensing paperwork for a Georgia case.

Rehab Centers in Belvedere Park, Atlantahttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/georgia/atlanta/belvedere-park/
Does Georgia Medicaid cover DUI treatment in Atlanta?

CareSource, Amerigroup Community Care and Peach State Health Plan are the care management organizations Georgia Medicaid lists, and some of the DUI and DWI programs in Atlanta record accepting Georgia Medicaid. Raising coverage early can save time when an assessment is being scheduled.

Whether a program is covered comes down to which Georgia Medicaid plan a member belongs to. Intake staff can confirm the match before an assessment is booked.

Are there DUI programs near a river in Atlanta?

The nearest river sits a median of about 21.4 miles from listed facilities, and one lies within 25 miles of most of the DUI and DWI programs in Atlanta. The most-named rivers are the Yellow River, Dog River and Little Mulberry River. For court-required classes, travel time and schedules weigh more than river access.

What DUI program does Georgia require for an Atlanta case?

Georgia requires the DUI Alcohol or Drug Use Risk Reduction Program for an Atlanta case, and only programs certified by the Georgia Department of Driver Services can offer it. The program has two parts, starting with a 130-question Assessment Component.

The second part is a 20-hour Intervention Component, which is an education course, not clinical treatment. Fulton County Superior Court also runs the Recovery Treatment Court, formerly called DUI Court, in its Accountability Court division for cases where a judge orders closer supervision. For the statewide rules, see DUI and DWI programs across Georgia.

The assessment result shows whether the course alone fits or whether a clinical referral should follow, and a court can order treatment as well. Before paying for an online version, confirm in writing that both the court and Driver Services will accept it.

DeKalb Peachtree Airport is the nearest airport for most listed Atlanta DUI providers, at a median of 10.4 miles away, and about half sit within 25 miles of Stone Mountain. Listed places include Conyers, Smyrna, College Park, Stockbridge and Doraville, so check MARTA bus and rail routes against class times before you enroll.

How does the DUI assessment decide whether you need treatment?

The assessment result shows whether the 20-hour course alone fits your situation or whether a clinical referral should follow. Georgia also requires a clinical evaluation before Driver Services will reinstate a license suspended after two or more DUI convictions within 10 years. A court can order treatment as well.

When care is recommended, Atlanta listings include outpatient rehab, intensive outpatient programs and residential rehab. Some providers also report medication for alcohol or opioid use disorder. Programs that work with referrals from judges appear under court-ordered rehab in Atlanta.

Can you complete the program online?

You should count on online completion only if the court handling your case and Driver Services both say they accept it. Ask each of them, ideally in writing, before you pay for any virtual course.

How do you pay for a DUI program or court-ordered treatment in Atlanta?

You pay the course fee directly to the certified program. Any treatment the assessment recommends is billed separately, through private insurance, Medicaid, a sliding fee or public funding. Georgia has not adopted the ACA adult Medicaid expansion. Instead, Georgia Pathways covers some adults with income up to 100% of the poverty line who meet work or activity requirements, and those requirements change on January 1, 2027.

Fulton County residents without insurance can receive behavioral health treatment at no charge through Fulton County Adult Behavioral Health Services at 265 Boulevard NE (404-665-8600). Providers with reduced fees are listed under sliding scale rehab in Atlanta. Spanish-language options are listed under Spanish-speaking rehab.

What to bring and ask when you call

Have your court paperwork, any assessment results and your completion deadline ready when you call. Ask the admissions team how proof of completion is sent to the court and to Driver Services.

Help is available today if you need it. The Georgia Crisis and Access Line (1-800-715-4225) helps people find state-funded providers. The Fulton County Behavioral Health Crisis Center (404-616-4784) is open 24/7. You can also call 988 or the national treatment referral line.
