Top Southpoint Drug and Alcohol Addiction Centers

Southpoint takes its name from the mall that opened in 2002 where Durham runs down toward Chatham County. The interchange around it has drawn most of the city’s recent commercial and residential building. The listings below cover Southpoint and the surrounding parts of Durham. Each listing is checked against SAMHSA records, North Carolina facility licensing and any accreditation a provider carries. If a detail looks wrong, tell us and we will check it again. What is currently listed for Southpoint appears below.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions about Southpoint (Durham)

Answered from what is listed here.

Which neighborhoods near Southpoint have treatment listed?

Hope Valley, about 3 miles away, is the nearest neighborhood to Southpoint with treatment listed under its own name. East Durham, Ninth Street and West Durham also carry listings within Durham County, which gives someone comparing programs a few short trips rather than a move out of the city. Telehealth appointments are listed across this area as well.

Rehabs in Hope Valleyhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/north-carolina/durham/hope-valley/
Is there residential rehab in Southpoint, Durham?

Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in Southpoint, Durham, NC

Southpoint takes its name from the mall that opened in 2002 where Durham runs down toward Chatham County and the Research Triangle Park.

Before that this was largely farmland and woods. The interchange at I-40 and NC-751 has drawn most of the county’s commercial and residential building over the two decades since.

The result is a district almost entirely built after 2000 — apartment complexes, subdivisions and retail arranged around road access rather than a street grid.

Research Triangle Park is minutes away, and a substantial share of residents work there in research, technology or pharmaceuticals.

Durham County recorded a substantial fall in overdose deaths across the four years to December 2025, in line with the state.

Employer cover is widespread here given the professional employment base, though the retail and service workforce around the mall carries considerably less.

Everything assumes a car. The bus reaches the mall but the surrounding subdivisions are spread out and not walkable.

Duke and the Triangle’s provision are fifteen to twenty minutes north, which is straightforward driving but not workable without a vehicle.

Listings in Hope Valley, Woodcroft and Downtown Durham sit under their own pages, and the full Durham picture covers the rest of the city.

Which Level of Care Do You Need

The assessment should end with a named tier, which is the only useful basis for comparison.

Medically Supervised Detox

Supervised withdrawal normally takes under a week with alcohol, longer with opioids, and it is the starting point where dependence is physical. Duke University Hospital is a Level I trauma center and among the largest academic medical centers in the South, which puts unusually deep clinical provision within a few miles of anywhere in the city.

Inpatient Residential Treatment

A residential placement is a live-in stay, most often thirty, sixty or ninety days, combining structured treatment with ordinary routine. Triangle residential capacity is the deepest in the state outside Charlotte.

Outpatient, IOP and PHP Treatment

North Carolina uses its own names at this tier. Intensive outpatient is SAIOP and partial hospitalization is SACOT, both standalone Medicaid coverage policies since January 2026. Parking and road access are easy here, which makes attendance practical for anyone driving.

Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

Co-occurring treatment addresses substance use and mental health at the same time, which the research consistently favors over sequential care. Co-occurring provision is well developed across the Triangle.

Sober Living Homes and Transitional Living

Substance-free housing after a program ends is a distinct thing from treatment, and standards vary widely. Certification is voluntary but meaningful. Recovery housing is concentrated closer to central Durham than in this part of the county.

Addiction Treatment Cost and Insurance Coverage in Southpoint

Costs here sit at the upper end of the Durham range.

How Much Does Addiction Rehab Cost?

Across North Carolina, expect roughly $1,400 to $4,800 a week for medical detox, $5,800 to $23,000 a month residential, and between $1,200 and $13,000 monthly across the outpatient tiers.

Providers in Chatham County and further south are frequently cheaper for the same tier.

Standard rehab and detox, Southpoint and the wider North Carolina market
Level of careMonthlyDaily
Medical detox (7–14 days)$1,600 – $5,200 per week$230 – $740
Residential inpatient$6,500 – $27,000$215 – $900
PHP$7,500 – $14,000$250 – $470
IOP$2,800 – $9,500$95 – $320
Outpatient$1,300 – $5,200$45 – $175
Luxury and executive programs, North Carolina
Level of careMonthlyDaily
Residential inpatient$18,500 – $54,000+$615 – $1,800+
PHP$15,000 – $32,000$500 – $1,065
IOP$10,500 – $25,000$350 – $835
Outpatient$5,200 – $16,000$175 – $535

Does Insurance Cover Rehab?

Yes. Substance use disorder treatment sits among the essential health benefits most plans are required to include. What a plan actually pays varies with the employer, the network and the level of care. Employer cover through the Research Triangle Park employers is generally comprehensive.

Expect prior authorization before detox or residential admission. Network status is the other variable that decides cost. Retail work around the mall frequently carries no plan at all, which is a different position entirely.

Free and State-Funded Addiction Rehab in Southpoint

Alliance Health is the Tailored Plan for Durham County. It administers Medicaid behavioral health and the state-funded services for uninsured and underinsured residents, which makes it the route to free treatment whether or not you hold Medicaid.

Expansion reached North Carolina in December 2023 and the eligibility line moved substantially. Old refusals are not a reliable guide to current eligibility. The expansion reached much of the retail and hospitality workforce in this district.

A provider should be able to name its licence and its service endorsement without hesitating. The two come from different parts of state government. Ask what a program is licensed and endorsed for, and match that against the level of care the assessment recommended.

More Help and Recovery Support

Duke University Hospital is a Level I trauma center and among the largest academic medical centers in the South, which puts unusually deep clinical provision within a few miles of anywhere in the city.

Meetings run daily in central Durham and several are held closer in, toward Chatham.

Neighboring Hope Valley, Woodcroft and Downtown Durham carry their own listings, with the wider picture across Durham.
