Drug and Alcohol Rehabs in Downtown Durham, Durham, NC

Downtown Durham was built on tobacco. Washington Duke started the business after the Civil War, and by 1900 the American Tobacco Company was among the largest corporations in the world, run from these blocks.

The factories closed through the 1980s and 1990s and the district emptied out almost completely. For two decades downtown Durham was a byword for a Southern city center that had failed.

The American Tobacco Campus reopened as offices and restaurants in 2004, and Brightleaf Square before it. The rebuild has been substantial and has changed the district beyond recognition.
