Con's If I could rate this place a zero, I would. I've been twice and both units I was on (Autumn and Winter) were completely gross. Windows were very filthy, blood on the wall in my room in the Autumn unit. Showers… were disgusting, along with the sinks and toilet. Ants and roaches in the gym. Ms. Atiya (African American Nurse) was very ugly with me on one of her shifts towards me, gave me and a lot of other patients a very nasty attitude, punishing me along with other patients over another patient making dog noises. One tech was talking about her love life to other colleagues which I found to be very unprofessional. While I was on Autumn there was violence on that unit and I was very uncomfortable and felt unsafe. I especially felt unsafe and uncomfortable on the nights Ms. Atiya was there. Both times I was suppose to have therapy sessions it never happened, both times there was suppose to several groups, it never happened. Unfortunately but fortunately I learned more from the other patients there. I AM SO SICK OF THE EXCUSES! I was told a lot but other staff that the reason we are unable to do this, do that is we are understaffed. Another horrible part is the soap that was used, they use that cheap medline brand and that stuff is horrible, awful part was my first time there they couldn't even afford soap there was some stuff that was bought in bottles from the dollar tree. Pro's On the other hand there was faculty and staff that were very kind and were there to help patients and went above and beyond which were: 1Mr. Tim (RN) Ms. Rebecca (RN) Dr. Downes Stephanie (Dr. Stinnetts aid) Others Personally I would reconsider this place, this is not the place where you want to be or your child to be. It's awful!
Call...than drive 2 hours just to sit for 2 more hours...just to get no help...absolutely useless and complete waste of a entire day
When I was their last year in February I was treated fairly respected by everyone especially by the women staff Jayla especially gave me clothes and hygiene ladies took great care of me I admire all of you 🐐
I went here in 2023, worst experience of my life. They made me stay out of my room until 5 in the evening. They talked bad about you, didn’t pay you any attention. One time I was feeling faint and felt like I was about… to pass out, and the woman accused of me faking it, and told me if I didn’t calm down, and take my meds, I was gone be put in the strait jacket. And locked in the quiet room, or somewhere by myself for the rest of the day. Wouldn’t recommend it for anyone really needing help. And then after that, I attempted to kill myself. And almost succeeded. I was in UAMS with a broken femur, that I had to get screws in, a a big rod or screw in my back, had to have an invasive neck surgery. 0/10 wouldn’t wish the person I can’t stand the most to come here.
I was there for 5 days it was only like 4 techs who actually cared n took care of me-tyrek,lalla,carol,destiny(nose piercing) n nurse Victoria n the Mexican nurse with the glasses she took care of us ngl they all did… but the food was trash n bed was musty
The only competent people I encountered were the psychiatrist, Dr. Stinett, and his med student assistant Sarah. The nurses are overworked and the entire facility is mismanaged. Intake takes hours and once admitted… there will be no support on the unit. Patients were allowed to scream and slam doors with no consequences, as well as damaging and hiding my belongings. You will be treated like mentally incompetent livestock, while other patients verbally abuse you with, again, NO CONSEQUENCES FOR THEIR ACTIONS. Multiple forms were lost and I was ignored for over an hour after requesting an AMA form for self discharge. In an emergency, this may work for you, but do not self admit if there is any other option.
Where to start! If I could give them zero stars I would. The techs were honestly one of the only good parts about being in Summer unit. I passed out due to blood pressure and was asked if I was being dramatic and… wanting attention. The disrespect from the night nurse Fiona was on another level. She really proves to EVERYONE that she is just there for a paycheck. I went in with a sprained ankle and was placed in the furthest room from the desk as possible, forcing me to walk on it all day in a brace without supports. This is the WORST inpatient facility I have ever been to. The only upside was food was good and the Techs cared.
My husband is here currently being held only because they want insurance money. He has served his time and is about to lose his job because they keep making him stay longer because of the good insurance. Not to mention… once brought to this place he didn’t have his regular meds for three days or more. Oh and been in the same clothes he arrived in 6 days ago. This place is an absolute joke not to mention he is without his coal machine which is a danger to himself alone but they don’t care as long as the insurance keeps paying .
Our family had a very disappointing experience with Conway Behavioral Health. We sent my disabled brother there because he has mental health issues and we wanted him to receive the help he needed. One of our biggest… concerns was the lack of communication. They refused to communicate with his grandmother, who is heavily involved in his care, and with his care coordinator. Every time questions were asked about his treatment or discharge, it felt like they became defensive. My brother told us he was threatened with being kept longer if he continued asking questions or if family members kept calling to ask about his care. Another serious concern involved his medications. Just two days before he was admitted, he had suffered a seizure because he wasn’t taking his trileptal. After arriving, his medication was changed and he was instead given Vistaril and Trazadone, which left him heavily sedated. Because he was so drowsy, he couldn't participate in activities like group and everything like that. Staff then documented that he was "not participating" and was "obsessive about discharge," even though the medication itself appeared to be preventing him from engaging. He also suffers from schizophrenia and was taking seroquel for that. he was taken off of it as well. When we tried to pick him up, his care coordinator reviewed his care chart and noticed numerous notes being added at the a little after we had shown up. The notes on his treatment plan seemed focused on justifying keeping him there longer. We were left with the impression that extending his stay was being prioritized over getting him home when it was appropriate. We were also told that if my brother simply checked himself out, the facility would not receive insurance reimbursement unless he was placed on a 72-hour hold, which raised serious concerns for our family about how decisions were being made. Finally, my brother told us he witnessed another patient suffer a severe hand injury, nearly cutting off a finger. According to him, a seperate patient had to make a scene before anybody would be able to receive medical attention because staff were not responding promptly. Based on our family's experience, we left feeling that communication, patient advocacy, and individualized care were lacking. We hope this review encourages the facility to improve communication with families and ensure patients receive appropriate medical attention and treatment based on their individual needs.
If I could give 0 stars I would... there was ZERO communication, no safety plan and he was discharged n we were told basically he didnt qualify for services anymore. This place is supposed to help people, save the kids… and fix the family.... therapist told me I shouldn't let him back in my home and make him someone else's problem.
My experience at Conway Behavioral Health was extremely concerning and disappointing. I came there needing care, safety, structure, and support, but what I experienced felt far from therapeutic. During my stay, I felt… that patients were often overly medicated rather than genuinely treated. The environment did not feel focused on healing. Group therapy was inconsistent and rarely occurred, and I did not receive meaningful one-on-one therapy. I only saw the doctor once during my stay, which was very troubling given the level of care patients are supposed to receive in an inpatient behavioral health setting. The staff often appeared indifferent, overwhelmed, or disconnected from the needs of the patients. Compassion, communication, and basic attentiveness were lacking on a daily basis. For people in crisis, that kind of environment can feel not only neglectful, but emotionally damaging. I also became aware of serious safety concerns during my time there, which only added to my fear and discomfort. Overall, my stay felt more like being managed or sedated than actually being helped. I believe behavioral health patients deserve dignity, consistent therapy, medical oversight, compassion, and a safe healing environment. Unfortunately, that was not my experience at Conway Behavioral Health.
this place is horrible and i still have nightmares about it to this day. nurses didn’t want to clean up after a schizophrenic patient that couldn’t go to the bathroom herself. i didn’t want to be in filth so i cleaned… up pee from the group therapy room into the hallway. i took a piece of the table from the cafeteria away from another patient when he tried to use it to harm himself. i got in trouble for praying for another patient when nothing else was working for him. they put me on the highest dose of lexapro and i didn’t get 1 on 1 therapy until 3 days after i was there. it was terribly cold, some of the staff were kind but the entire system there is horrible. i was placed with so many different types of kids that there was barely any action taken to helping me with my specific problem. i was in a unit with kids that were schizophrenic, in there for swerving their cars off the road when drunk, depression, anxiety, parental issues, anger issues and more. in the end, this place made me significantly more sad than i was to see others like that. it’s been a year and my heart still hurts for them the same as it did when i met them that day.
Conway wellness center is an absolutely incredible facility. I was in the Autumn unit. All of the staff, nurses, and techs did everything in their power to make sure I was comfortable and taken care of. The doctors came… to do wellness checks everyday. I was able to fully open up and be completely honest without fear of being judged or ridiculed. The first morning I was there I had a panic attack and Laila held my hands and walked me through it. She even cut up my food into small pieces so I could eat since I had recently had a dental surgery. Nurse Brooke came and sat in my room with me when I said I was scared to be alone and tried to redirect my brain from the anxiety by talking to me about family and offering to play whatever music I wanted. Carol was bubbly and positive with a smile on her face while trying to take care of all the patients requests and needs. Tyrek was incredible each and everyday, making me laugh with his positive and funny attitude even after a 13 hour shift. Stephen was amazing and busted his butt everyday, staying late when other staff didn't show up for shifts while keeping a smile on his face along with making everyone around him smile. I don't think I even saw Stephen sit down at all. Destiny was amazing and held a music therapy group for the clients that was so much fun. The dietician Rebekah was so helpful with any questions I had even when she was overwhelmed with the workload she had. Rhonda and Griselda are two of the sweetest women I've ever met, being patient, caring and kind while gathering and administering each patient's medications. Shi'nez and Iesha were so sweet and supportive. Abby was amazing and so great at showing the patients new coping skills. Shaq and Derek were awesome and hilarious, making the days more enjoyable. Dr. Downes checked in on me everyday, along with Nurse Reid, and they both made me feel heard, validated, and valued. I could feel how much they understood the battle that was going on in my brain and that they genuinely cared and worked fast and hard to help correct the chemical imbalance from the medications I was on. If I could give a 6th star, I absolutely would. I 1000% recommend Conway wellness center if you are struggling and need help. They truly care and listen and do whatever they can to help you get back to feeling like yourself. I left the facility feeling like I had my spark back and have continued treatment in the outpatient facility next door, which is also absolutely incredible. I truly love each and every one of the staff members from the Autumn unit and the outpatient therapy facility. They absolutely made a huge impact on my life and I am grateful to each and every one of them. If I could go back just to visit with the staff, I totally would because they are just that amazing.
My husband was put in there by our sheriff office and I call several times trying to get a hold of him and they kept saying they didn't have anyone by his name.. It wasn't until he was allowed to make a phone call that… I found out he was in Conway behavioral health...
Awful place to go! My family member was there and she came out worse than what she was! She kept falling and hitting her head and not once did they have her see a doctor. They put her in such a bad psychosis that when… she got discharged finally we had to take her to a different hospital to get treatment. Avoid this place if you can.
My spouse was transferred here from another hospital for a 72 hour hold to attempt to manage his medication for an anxiety issue with Huntington’s Disease. The transfer was approved and after several hours of being… there they called and said he didn’t qualify for services (previously approved services)?! The front desk staff threw a bag on the desk and said there’s his stuff. When he came out he had a black eye and dried blood all over his elbow. He can’t tell me what happened but at the very least his elbow could have been cleaned up. He received no food and no meds and absolutely zero effort put in to treating him like a human being. But that’s ok, God saw everyone of you and that’s who you will answer to one day! People please…DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!
I came in skeptical and nervous but this place was amazing and made a big change in my life! Every part of the staff i came in contact with was kind and helpful and i met some amazing people as well!
Places like this are the reason why people don't get help. The residential program is a hell hole, but at least the nursing staff gave a damn. The PHP/IOP program is such a joke it's hard to tell whether the interim… director is incompetent or just a bad person. If you're serious about getting better, avoid this place like the plague.
100% would not recommend this place even to my most hated enemy. As a parent I regret my kiddo spending time at this facility. They overdosed her to where she was almost in a coma, she was subjected to constant fights,… the facility will put random kids on the phone when you call to check on your kiddo and the administration is beyond unhelpful. They will treat your kiddo like a paycheck and did not care about helping the kiddo. Please go anywhere else but here. Our baby came out worse than how she went in. Oh and they will lie and fabricate paperwork if they think they can hold your kid longer so you’ll pay out of pocket.
I went in to there hospital when I checked out I come to find out the admit and or other staff or pharmacist stole my pain meds when I was signed out also told me I could get my medical marijuana back if I gad my… medical card and 1 of the staff stole it 2
I was in the Autumn unit. I went in for a suicide attempt and came out better then ever. I wanna give a shout out to Mrs Rhonda, Bam, Kaitlyn, tyrek, thomas, Mrs Carol, Mrs Jay Moss, Cam, Shameka, Blake, and mrs yam.… They helped me in ways I never thought was possible. They need a raise for sure. They put up with so much bull crap and still worked with a smile and did their jobs to more then their best. They are all wonderful people. Thank yall so much for changing my life.
Made a Quarterback McFadden Pass from half court directly in the basketball hoop... they are a witness LeBron James to the MF-50
I admitted myself voluntarily and was told I would be able to leave whenever I decided. The staff advised me that weekends and holidays don't count towards our stay. I didn't receive my meds for the first 2 days I was… there and was told I needed to see the doctor first. I was in this place from 2 am on Saturday until 6pm on the following Monday. I never saw a doctor, a dietitian, therapist, or psychiatrist. I was promised therapy, a psychiatrist and counseling. The whole time I was there there was a single "group therapy" activity ran by the techs that was simply a printout of healthy sleeping habits. I was told by the head nurse Rachel not to ask for an AMA leave because it looked bad on the hospital and that was an automatic 72 hour hold. I was told by another nursing staff that she would sue the hospital herself if she had a loved one in here. The conditions were terrible. I was placed in Autumn unit 20 people to one unit. There were 2 small areas we were allowed to congregate in, otherwise our rooms were locked during the day and we were forced to sit/lay on the floor or hard chairs for hours. We weren't given any activities except coloring pages and puzzles. The whole unit was dirty. I never saw anyone come to clean the place. The bathrooms stayed locked as well so anytime anyone needed to use the restroom, there was 1 single bathroom outside of our rooms for the whole unit and we had to ask to have it opened. The shower in our room was moldy/mildewed, we weren't allowed a shower curtain so the floor would be covered in water. They didn't refill the soap containers in the restrooms because "they didn't have a key" and anytime I tried to keep the tiny bottle of body wash they gave us to wash my hands with they would take it. I have severe stomach issues and I was forced to eat greasy/fried food and was sick and miserable, and they witheld anything to help me with that as well. When I was told I could ask for a substitution every time but once I was laughed at or just told no. Night time was terrible, they kept all the lights on and since our room was across from the storage closet the techs would sit outside in chairs and laugh and just generally be loud. They would come in our rooms at night being loud. I was woken up a few times by them just standing in our room staring at us for minutes in a row. They kept it extremely cold and only gave us a single very thin throw blanket, and one small pillow. My husband was in the lobby of the hospital for 10+ hours over the course of 2 days because the hospital refused to answer or return calls. Even though I came in voluntarily they wouldn't even consider letting me leave until he had been there hounding them for days. This place is terrible. If you have the option to not go here take it. I needed this place to save me when I was at my absolute lowest and they didn't do anything to help me. The patients in my unit did more to help me and keep me calm and stable than any single employee there.
I stayed at Conway for 8 days and I would not recommend this place to anyone I was a teen and they treated us like freaks I watched people get worse or they would get hurt and that was one of the worst things I ever had… to see I watched the people there have mental breakdowns because they where scared and they thought they where not safe I met a kid there he was kind and was nice and he was 17 turning 18 while he was there and I watched them tell him after him being there for like 3 to 4 days that he was being moved to the adult area because he turned 18 in there and I watched him cry multiple times becuase he didn’t want to lose the people he had become friends with and be put with more strangers that he had no idea who they where and they all where 5 to 10 years older then him I wish they did something else then do that and I watched a girl almost get chocked out by a another kid and the adults didn’t even noticed till she screamed because they had left some teens alone. The only reason I liked it a-little bit was because the kids there helped me come out of my shell and get a-little better and mason and Timmy where really nice to me and other kids made sure I was always ok. So please parents don’t send your kids here please
I honestly wouldn’t even give this place a 1 if I had a choice. LONG POST ALERT. I voluntarily admitted myself to this place, on a Friday, believing that I would get a therapeutic intervention and outlook as far as my… mental health (depression, anxiety, suicidal thought). I thought I would get to talk to a counselor, have group therapy sessions, and just overall learn better coping skills for my individual case of mental illness. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! 1. I was in a coed unit. And I also never seen a maintenance person during my whole 6 day stay. 2. Even though I voluntarily checked myself in, they refused to let me leave when I realized they group people together based off their own assessments. I was grouped with multiple schizophrenic individuals which only triggered my issues. 3. During a 6 day stay, I only received group therapy 3 times!! During the entire stay. And one was done by a staff member only because it was overstimulated in the unit that day. My mom attempted to call them and reach out to let them know I wanted to leave and go to a treatment center that would actually help my mental state and my specific case, and my fiancé came in person because he could NOT contact anyone as far as my release for days because they never answered the phone. This is when they decided to put me on a 72 hour hold with no reasoning behind it. They withheld my body wash for a day even tho I stayed numerous times that I have sensitive skin. They didn’t give me any of my meds the first two days, even though my blood pressure was extremely high both days they checked. They locked our bedroom doors for 12 hours a day, so we were forced to take naps on the cold floor or in a hard chair. They withheld many of my clothing items only to give them to me when I got angry and went off. They only allow cigarettes, so I picked up a terrible habit because being around so many people with extreme mental issues whilst I was going for more of therapy and counseling. I didn’t eat the first two days because I didn’t eat the things the cafe provided and no one told me I could get an alternative. I would 10/10 NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. I never gained any coping skills, therapy, counseling, any of the things I checked myself in for. They finally allowed me to leave when they felt like it. This place should definitely be investigated for maltreatment and malpractice. This place should be shut down.
They left my mother to fend when she was in a catatonia episode said she was faking it I do not trust this hospital with my life I the whole 7 days she was there I was there at least every other day trying to figure out… why why why they had no answers please dont send your family here the neglect they will let the phone ring and think that they are answering it when they aren't you have to go up there to get any information on anything I had to threaten my attorney just to get anything done!!!!!!!! They treated my 59 year old mother like a criminal instead of a patient never kept in contact with me filed a petition for court then had it dismissed 2 days later without the family knowing lies after lies after lies 😔 💔 😪 my mother is emotionally physically and emotionally drained and her ptsd is worse there was no blankets always running out of things towels soap etc......... just think before you send!!!!!!!!!
