Ascend Mental Health – Towson

if I could give ZERO stars I would! Our experience has been horrific. There is absolutely no communication or accountability. 3 primary therapists and 1 director are leaving at the end of this week. My son started the… program & was assigned a primary therapist. She then emailed us that she was leaving within the week. Sandstone him a therapist who would no longer be there!!! I was told there isn’t another therapist hired at this time. WHAT!!!! I insisted “find him” an individual ASAP. gjust left impatient then PHP and Sandstone believe it was ethical to not gave him in individual therapy!!! So they pulled up 1 of their PHP therapist. She has seen him 2x in a month! Then last week while in Family group we were told that today was the last week and there isn’t another therapist to replace the current facilitator so there is no longer a family component. Again, when prompted we are being told that they do not have new hires.. Today, AFTER I initiated communication I was told they “just hired” 1 therapist to lead groups. NO ONE else is in the building!!! This past week my son was triggered in group and because there was no support outside the group facilitator I had to pick him up!!! True incompetence. This is inconsolable. .This is the definition of negligence and incompetence.

This program has been extremely helpful for me especially because of our group therapist Hannah. Many therapists are annoyingly obsessed with maintaining this detached demeanor where they ramble about a lot of buzzword… fluff, don’t express much emotion and it’s hard to actually listen to someone who seems so superficial and are frankly vapid to interact with. She’s very honest and straight to the point but maintains sensitivity to our feelings. She expresses a level of authenticity and relatability that feels like a breath of fresh air where it feels like I’m talking to an actual agreeable human opposed to a robot. And that’s not to say she’s all friend no therapy. For example I’ve always been noted as being very insightful and therapists will almost always tell me things I already know but she’s one of the only exceptions that tells me things that lead to new perspectives I wouldn’t have come across on my own, which have lead to a dramatic improvement. Every other person and aspect of the program is great too I could go on but just wanted to give the 🐐 a much deserved shout out

This place is amazing. The people who work here are lovely and really sweet. They created a truly comfortable environment to express yourself freely. I recommend coming here

Sandstone was such a welcoming place with incredible group facilitators and was instrumental in my mental health journey. Highly recommend for young adults.
