Everyone from check in with I.D. to nurses, etc was kind and actually walked me to the patient that I was there to visit.

My family member was transferred here from an intensive care. We were not given any other choice. I stayed awake at night worrying about him. I had read the Google reviews and checked medicare's website. After… experiencing a stay, I would send him here again if I needed to. He felt that it was "the best hospital he had ever been to." He was very touched by the extra things they would do for him just to be kind. I will say that the people at the front desk are not at all friendly. There are maybe two that do not look miserable. There is one man (wears a Ravens jersey) that is extremely rude and has no business at the front desk. Also be prepared to have to give them your driver's license to be scanned each time. It's disturbing to have to compromise your personal information to see a loved one. We were in the hospital unit. It looks like a nursing home, not a hospital. In fact, when you look up ratings for the facility, you will find them listed under nursing homes. The facility is clean. I did not see rodents or any other type of pests. I thought that most of the medical staff, including the techs, were very professional and knowledgeable. Our family member was on a ventilator, and was very quickly weaned. They had struggled at the UPMC ICU to be able to wean him off the ventilator, and it happened very quickly at Levindale. The negatives were what I considered over use of restraints, a lack of consideration for the patients dignity, and a long time waiting for call bells to be answered. We stayed with our family member, both to make sure that he was well cared for and also to try to be helpful. There is housing on the campus. I recommend Levindale.

I wish I could leave zero stars. My stepdad was transferred here to the brain unit from the VA Hospital in downtown Baltimore. To say I wouldn’t wish this hospital on my worst enemy is an understatement. He left the VA… walking (with a walker), talking, taking care of his ADL’s to a mental state where he couldn’t do any of those things. It seems that their philosophy is to over medicate them and not treat the patient as a whole person. Complaining gets you nowhere, as they think we not smart enough to do our own research despite a patient having every single adverse reaction to a drug. Once you start to complain about the lack of care, the avoidance game begins. If the patient is in a pretty much vegetative state (glassy eyes, zoned out) then the patient can’t communicate their needs nor try to get up and then the staff seems to forget about the patient. They refused to acknowledge that my stepdad (Vietnam war with a purple heart and bronze star) has PTSD and would continually ask his wife “how do you know he has PTSD?”. He is in such a state that he couldn’t even participate in psychiatric therapy if it were an option. Not to mention that the CRNP in charge of his care was clueless about dementia - all meds she was throwing at him are for other mental disorders such as bipolar and schizophrenia and most certainly not recommended for the elderly let alone someone with Alzheimer/Dementia. As his family we are fully aware that an Alzheimer's/Dementia diagnosis complicates things, but his symptoms were not so bad that he couldn’t communicate with the staff prior to being admitted here. They do not check diapers frequently enough and within a week of being admitted my loved one had a pressure sore and it took months to heal. I know that they take time to heal – but the problem is that he got one within ONE week. In the three months in the VA hospital, he didn’t get a pressure wound. Since being admitted he has been picking at his arms and legs, and they are now covered in open wounds. Like most places they are short-staffed with aids and have a high turnover. The good ones always leave. Many of the aids we encountered wouldn’t even speak to our loved one, and if they did, they were harsh and demanding. His roommate would totally miss the toilet, and they would leave the mess on the floor unless we brought it to their attention. His most recent roommate would help himself to my stepdad’s clothes and let’s not forget about the clothes that just disappeared like a Ravens sweatshirt. It takes sometimes hours for the food to be delivered to the patients. And for a brain health unit there was absolutely little to no brain enrichment unless you were receiving OT/PT services. My stepdad left there with aspiration pneumonia, a UTI and kidney damage (no kidney issues at all prior to being admitted). We have informed the hospital he is in that he will NOT go back there. Avoid Levindale Geriatric Hospital if you love your family member and do not wish to see their mental state deteriorate at an alarming speed and wind up with irreparable damage.

Our experience with Levindale has been exceptional. It was a difficult transition for our 93‑year‑old mother, who went from living independently at home to suddenly needing nearly full-time care. The staff at Levindale… were consistently helpful, friendly, and patient throughout the entire process, which made a world of difference for all of us. Our mother even commented that the food was “pretty good”—and she is very picky! The facility itself is clean, comfortable, and easy to access, with convenient parking. We had a previous experience with another facility, and there is simply no comparison. Levindale was far superior in every aspect—care, professionalism, environment, and overall experience. We are truly grateful for the level of support our mother received there.

The management at Levindale has replaced the Hippocratic Oath with, “Bleed em’ dry n’ let em’ die.” I adore my physician. They had some great therapists. I had a few good nurses and techs. The management was evil and… covered for some nasty techs. Now they want to shaft me out of money. I have a gluten-free, lactose free diet. It was a very hard to get them to be diet compliant with the meals. I had to police every tray. These people just didn’t care. Therapy left specific instructions on how I was to toilet. One text said, “That’s too much work. If therapy wants that they do themselves.“ The tech was completely insensitive to my injuries and how they impacted toileting. I am lactose intolerant. They ran out of Lactaid. Because they are kosher and it was a Saturday. I could not eat for 15 hours. These people don’t care. They could be callous. I was receive a drug called Zosyn. I was to receive 34 hour infusion a day. That is a pain. The director of nurses Shirell about that. she said, “if you needed that you should’ve stayed at Sinai.” They gave me shorter infusions. I had a serious drop and a type of White blood cells called neutropenes. what that meant was that I was immune compromised. Staff were to wear masks when they came into my room. One person wore what looked like PPE. A tech Sandra was helping me toilet. Sandra took off her mask got within 8 inches of my face and verbally abused me. Not only was I uncomfortable. I was frightened. They would not give me Sandra‘s last name so that I could report her to the board of nursing. Previously , the director of nurses Shirell came into my room and yelled at me. I felt hurt. I felt uncomfortable. that woman is evil. I was discharged. Levindale‘s duty to provide case management for services received while they are survives my discharge. levindale would not assist with IRO reviewer Pierre review. they would not provide a letter of medical necessity. They are obligated to do that. My surgeon had to do their job. The IRO club never had to have received said letter in time which is patently false.They are in breach of their duty to provide case management. I am not satisfied with their services. I hold that no reasonable patient could be satisfied with their services. Pursuant to HIPAA you may defend yourselves

I would give zero stars if I could. First the good. Orthopedist Dr. Conway is awesome. I can’t go to Dr. Conway every time staff aren't order compliant. Management should fix. They don’t. Physical therapist Kristin and… Nurse Practicioner Laura were great. Some techs and nurses were good. Bad ones outweigh the good. Management should not allow what they do. Director of Nurses Sherrill was verbally abusive. Administrator Sharon Hendricks did nothing. I was on IV antibiotic Zosyn, I got 3 separate 4 hour infusions daily. That is a pain. I get it. Sherrill said, “If you needed that you should’ve stayed at Sina [Hospital]“. A Ligebridge sister property. Staff do not like to advocate for patients against insurance. Sherrill got a prescriber to allow her team to give me shorter infusions and a larger dose. I got neutropenia. What that is is a shortage of white blood cells called neutropenes I was immune compromised. Anyone entering my room was to wear a mask. One person wore what looked like PPE. If I got a fever over 100.4 I was to go to the emergency room. I was frightened. I was at Levindale recovering from joint fusion of the ankle. I needed joint fusion to get rid of dormant bone infection. I needed that to have my shoulder replaced. The dormant bone infection would’ve seen a chance to come back and attack if I had had the shoulder replacement before ankle fusion. Due to infection issues I needed to be clean. After toileting and wiping, I stood at the walker. A tech stabilized one side, and I wiled my legs knee to waist on both sides. The tech handed me wipes. I only had 60° of mobility in my shoulder. Thech Sandra juggled the box. I said, “Are you making fun of me?“ Sandra took off her mask and inches from my face and said, “Are you making fun of me? Are you making fun of me? Are you making fun of me?” Sandra then verbally abused me. Levindale did nothing. I received an email from Sharon that the management would talk to Sandra. Sandra was abusive was because previously Sandra‘s boss, Sherrill had been abusive Sherrill yelled at me in my own room. There,that hospital room is my home. Nobody will yell at me in my home. Toilet transfers with techs were a problem. Techs would not follow orders from therapy or anybody else. Sometimes they were short staffed. Overnight I could hear them watching TV. If don’t need anything, that’s fine. But don’t complain what I do. Sharon apologized and did nothing. They don’t care. I am lactose intolerant. They ran out of Lactaid. Kosher. They would not serve meat and dairy together. I was deprived of food and medication for 15 hours. Nobody cared. I am a celiac. No gluten. A nursing home should have no problem accommodating a gluten-free lactose free diet. I am not an attorney. I believe they’re in breach of the ADA. I have been pleading for Sandra‘s last name to report her to the Board of Nursing. Patients are there to heal. We should not fear staff. Sherrill is a verbally abusive woman. I go to Sharon because Sherrill makes me uncomfortable. Sharon directed Sherrill to send me bandages for home care. The bandages never came. My social worker Imani told me by phone they were not sending the bandages.They were not putting that in writing. Insurance did not want to pay for the last week. Levindale could not find a home care agency. I needed constant wound cleaning. I was there because an HCRManorCare nurse negligently chose not to wash a surgical wound which became infected and reinfected multiple times. All of this was from a car accident, but there were intervening mistakes by medical personnel. They are supposed fight with insurance. They would not 0send a Letter of Medical Neccessity. My orthopedist had to. The IRO said they never received it when I have a fax confirmation. The careful philosophy of management appears to be, “Bleed em’ dry and let em’ die.”0 My doctor who is great, has privileges here. There are not enough choices for me. Go elsewhere if you can.

My brother has been here for three years. There are some caring staff members, but I’ve also encountered some who were less compassionate. It can be very frustrating to rely on supervisors or managers for assistance; I… waited nearly three hours to find out why the podiatrist left my brother’s foot bleeding. I’ve read other reviews, and unfortunately, they reflect similar experiences. If my brother were classified as "private pay," I would seriously consider moving him out of this facility. Also, please be aware that making complaints might result in being barred from visiting, as this is a private facility. UPDATE: If you have loved ones at this facility and haven’t been able to see them during COVID, I urge you to insist on full transparency about their condition. If possible, see them in person. From March to August, I was unable to visit my brother, and during that time, his healthcare was severely neglected. We are deeply involved in his care; my mother and I checked on him daily since he’s been at Levindale. Sadly, during this period, he developed a large bed sore on his knee, which appeared to be dying tissue, and an ear infection that we were never informed about. While we couldn’t visit, he experienced a seizure, a severe stroke, and slipped into a coma—all of which could have been prevented if proper care had been taken. Levindale provides 24-hour care, so signs of a seizure or stroke should not go unnoticed. Prompt response is critical. During evenings and weekends, care tends to decline, so I highly recommend taking advantage of Burke 2’s 24-hour visitation hours. You shouldn’t have to wait days for help in emergencies like a stroke. In fact, waiting to call 911 when someone is unresponsive is heartbreaking. I am overwhelmed with grief. Words cannot fully express my sorrow. I never got to see my brother in person until he was in the ICU at Sinai, passing away. Saying he “passed away” feels insufficient—he died alone, likely scared, before he even left Levindale. My brother was only 41. Seeing him in the hospital as just a shell of the person he once was is devastating. After seven years at Levindale, with the same nurses and GNA’s, I hoped more than three staff members would attend his funeral or reach out with condolences. Sadly, many did not. The three staff members who did come will always hold a special place in my heart, and I am grateful. The rest, who perhaps felt relieved they no longer had to deal with us—may God have mercy on their souls. I wish I could speak some words of justice to them, but in honor of my brother, I’ll remain silent. Just know, everything done in darkness will eventually come to light. I’ve read other reviews about how families were treated after losing loved ones at Levindale and Sinai, and I thought, “That won’t happen to me,” but it did. Shame on you, Levindale.

My momma stayed at Levindale for rehab after a fall. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

I cannot say enough about my Mother being at Levindale. The staff including the physician were amazing and cared for her like she was their own. Everyone was responsive. Place is beautiful when you walk in.

My father was a resident in Long term care unit in the Households and I thought Levindale did a great job with him, providing him care other residences could not manage.

My mom stayed her in Late 2022 she was admitted to inpatient then transferred to subacute. When my mom arrived she was walking assisted. When she left she was bed ridden, left with a serious UTI (had to be hospitalized)… and subdued due to medications she was prescribed. I regret sending my mom there. I hope they have increased the number of their staff, expand on PT options in subacute and contact the family more often.

This place needs to be shut down. WHERE IS THE STATE!!!! Residents are always left unattended on day and night shift on households. No gna no nurse in site. People are falling like crazy and they aren’t reporting the… falls. Needs to be shut down or all new management!!

SHORT STAFF, MOM DIED! If I could give zero stars I would. My mom was here for five years. She had a stroke which caused left sided paralysis as well as deafness on the left side for which she had a cochlear implant.… She was also legally blind. In the first year, the care was pretty good. Then we received a letter, a staff reorganization was being implemented for better patient care. Instead of one nurse and one medicine aid per unit, there was now one nurse per two units, and a medicine aid. One nurse now had 28 patients! 28!! Due to them covering two units, the nurses were never on the unit for very long, and when they were, they were constantly in the office, only coming out for emergencies. They relied solely on the aids to monitor patients and report any changes. While the aides were as helpful as they could be, they were clearly overwhelmed and not medically trained to identify changes in medical status. My mom was heavy set and required a “two-person lift.” When a second person was unavailable, one staff member would move her. On one such occasion, the aide dropped my mom into her wheelchair breaking her right hip. This hip fracture required surgery to repair. An “internal investigation” said my mom ‘blooped’ into her chair, and that because of her osteoporosis the hip broke. Because of the stroke, my mom had limited mobility on her left side. The staff didn’t do range of motion exercises to maintain normal range of motion in her left arm and leg. A year after the hip fracture, an aide broke her left arm in the shower because she raised it higher than mom’s limited range of motion would allow. They put her arm in a sling and gave her Tylenol for a broken arm! When new staff came because of the high turnover rate, instead of crushing her pills with apple sauce (which was supposedly noted on the medication record), they would either crush it in pudding (which mom wouldn’t eat) or try to give it to her whole (which she was unable to swallow). When mom wouldn’t take the medication as they prepared it, they would just say mom refused to take medication. Mom was blind and she needed extra time with meds. Because the night shift was short, she would often go without meds because staff didn’t have the time to wait for her to take them. Also because of her blindness, mom required feeding at mealtimes. Most of the time, staff would plop the tray down in front of her, then come back later and pick up the untouched tray. I know this because I would come in around mealtime and see the untouched tray sitting on the table, sometimes the table was across the room, where mom couldn’t reach it even if she had known it was there. In the end, she was so little, I could move her myself. She had lost over 50 pounds. She went to Sinai ER on a Sunday and died the next day. Maybe my mom died so yours won’t have to. You are just a dollar to them. Go anyplace else!!

My mom was left in dirty sheets. Pressure spot they don’t bathe you, put clothes on or change your clothes. They are awful. The staff talks about the patients getting on their nerves

My mom has been in the HICU at Levindale for the past few weeks and I would highly highly recommend it here. We have had the kindest and most supportive people working with our family from the very start. The admissions… director, techs, nurses, physical and occupational therapists have been soooo helpful throughout this process. I leave there every day knowing my mom is being taken care of and I am so appreciative of the staff working there. THANK YOU 🩷

I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible care my mother received at Levindale. From the moment she arrived, the entire team demonstrated unparalleled dedication, knowledge, and compassion. Their kindness and… expertise not only helped her heal through one of the most challenging times of her life but also gave me the gift of spending precious moments with the woman I knew and loved so deeply. Beyond the outstanding medical care, the staff went above and beyond to provide emotional support—not just for my mother but for me as well. Their warmth and attentiveness made all the difference during such a difficult time. Levindale is more than just a healthcare facility; it’s a place filled with heart, where patients and their families are truly cared for. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of compassionate, expert care. Thank you, Levindale, for everything.

They don't clean thoroughly. The rooms, bathroom. They only wash the top of the toilet not the seat or the bottom and they sweep the rooms twice a week, mop only one week with water, the rag or the mop was sour when she… wiped the bathroom, sink down just the other day. Soiled diapers have been in the room from Friday night and still haven't been picked up and it's Sunday evening February 16th. I contracted Covid-19 while at the facility. No one had come to visit me, so it wasn't from an outside source. It was someone at the facility, a nurse or cleaning person that gave it to me. I was quarantined for ten days. Now I get back to a different room and the nurses tell me that I can't open the door because Covid-19 is in the hall way. WHAT!!! I guess they mean somebody has run their hands all over the place and so we can't open the door and we're stuck in our room. Another patient and i with the door closed. And nobody has come to clean anything properly to make sure that we're safe. I guess I'll have to live with these dirty filthy unclean diapers for another two days or ten days before they come in and pick them up. This facility is unbelievable, knowing the location that is in it should be alot better. Across the street from the hospital. This facility only got a 2.4 rating. In the middle of Baltimore, the most fanciest hospital ever across the street, and they only got a 2.4 rating. Thats unbelievable!!!! The only reason i'm here is they couldn't find a bed near where I live in Upper Marlboro. This is ridiculous! My insurance pays good money for me to stay in a comfortable clean environment. I wouldn't recommend this place to a dog. Please don't send your love ones here. They will come out sicker than they were before.

My son, Ryan Oksman, in rm. 267 is well taken care of by your staff. They're attentive, caring, friendly, and helpful and professionally experienced.

I’m very satisfied. While some of the complaints might be legitimate, I have a different review. This place took excellent care of my mom in 95A and I couldn’t be happier. Every nurse was very caring and my mom was a… handful. Ever since they properly regulated her medication she has been back to her normal self and my family and I are very grateful. She was able to come home right before CHRISTmas which was the best gift ever. I’m grateful to Levindale for everything they’ve done because this journey has been hard on my family. Thanks again and this place is a good place to have your family members cared for 🙏🏾💜🫶🏾

You will never get paid on time here. Whoever is responsible for getting direct deposit information doesn't know how to do their job. It's a new excuse every pay period. It's sad that such incompetence is going on when… it comes to the hard working nurses money. They have had an employee get arrested already because he was tired of them messing up his money every pay period. You would think that causes grounds for investigation if things get this bad. There needs to be an investigation started for this. There shouldn't be any issues with every pay period.

Worst Place Ever I am here now just had major surgery on my left knee the fourth one the first week I was here They put me to bed bleeding really bad They didn't have my medication the first three days and then today… June 7, 2024. This is the third time they have ran out of my pain medication, the food here is so terrible. My Dog wouldn't eat it. You have to Order out or ask family to bring you something I lose 26lbs 3 weeks here due to jail like food The charge nurse Julie Rodriguez Hall 1# told me pretty much to screw off when I brought up the fact that this was the 3rd time They have screwed up mine medication their pharmacies is 2 hours away if you care about your loved ones do not send them here. They gonna come out way worse then when they got here. A lot of patients health declines here and they have to be sent to the hospital. I've been here for 62 days. I still can only walk 10 feet if you hit the call button you waiting 20 minutes up to 45 minutes. You, Better hope you have a good GNA or nurse or you gonna have a bunch of filled up your containers of pee and you have to pee very bad The facility makes you lay in bed all day no activity's other then bingo were they give out 0.25 cents. This rehabilitation center is very understaff I will be filling a report on this place Monday morning with the State of Maryland please don’t send your family here the last night I was there they ran out of my medicine again also they had a older lady like a grandmother who had a brain injury they would not watch her to the point she fell on the floor and busted her head open room 111 next to me that so sad please don’t send anyone here It’s all contracted out none of the employees that work. There are actually Lifebridge employees on the rehab floor. They work for a third party company that is horrible and already been fine by the state of Maryland it’s public records

This place is dangerous, they can not keep staff here. I do not know what management is doing but 1 nurse to have 20 something patients is crazy. I read some reviews, it's not the nurses fault and they are doing the… best they can do.

ZERO STARS. NEGATIVE. Don’t put anyone you love here. My grandfather went here for a medication adjustment in the brain health unit and left unable to walk. Because he basically was made to sit in a bed all day everyday… for WEEKS. Which led to so many problems including giant bed sores. It’s a locked unit. With absolutely nothing to do. No socializing, nothing but a dark small unit full of the nastiest nurses and staff. The smallest TV’s. The smallest beds. And when you walk into the unit absolutely all of the patients are in their wheel chairs passed out about to fall out of them. Everyone looks like complete zombies. He also had a uti we had no idea about that turned sepsis because he had it that long. And ended him in the ER for TWO WEEKS. They don’t answer your calls they never update you and they expect these poor elderly people to sit in these dark rooms all day in their beds. It’s absolutely sickening. My grandfather went from riding a bike everyday in the best shape to literally not even able to get out of bed here. The food is awful. This place is horrific. Oh and god forbid your loved one needs to use the phone to call family these poor people have to go through hell and back in order to use the phone and get restricted amount of time on it. Edit to add** they also HIGHLY over medicated my grandfather on unnecessary psych medications. That led him to be a complete ZOMBIE. When he left this place and went to his next facility the psychiatrist agreed they over drugged him to “shut him up” so they didn’t have to basically do anything with/for him. Which I know they did. When I voiced my concerns with the psychiatrist at Levindale because I know nothing about psych meds he got really nasty with me and told me he was “making the best decision for my grandfather” aka literally killing him. I have no idea how this place is still around. I guess that’s healthcare in America for you but please for the love of god don’t send your loved ones here. EVER EVER EVER EVER.
