Rehabs That Take HealthSpring

HealthSpring is a Medicare Advantage and prescription drug plan brand now owned by Health Care Service Corporation, which bought it from Cigna. HealthSpring plans can include drug and alcohol treatment for Medicare members, with benefits varying by plan, network and level of care.Centers in several states name HealthSpring on their own websites. Medicare Advantage plans usually use a network, so call the facility and the number on your HealthSpring card before admission. Ask whether the center is in network, whether prior authorization or a referral is needed for the level of care, and what copays or other costs may apply.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

Does HealthSpring cover rehab?

Yes, HealthSpring Medicare Advantage plans cover addiction treatment. The 2026 Summaries of Benefits list inpatient mental health care, outpatient substance use services (individual and group), partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and opioid treatment program services as benefit lines. Copays, deductibles and authorization rules differ by plan and level of care.

HealthSpring became the brand for the former Cigna Medicare plans on January 1, 2026, so members should use the Medicare Advantage line on the new card, 1-800-668-3813.

Medicare Rehabhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/medicare/
Is HealthSpring the same as Cigna?

No, not anymore. HealthSpring plans are the former Cigna Healthcare Medicare plans. Health Care Service Corporation bought Cigna's Medicare Advantage, Part D, supplemental and CareAllies businesses on March 19, 2025 and renamed them HealthSpring on January 1, 2026. Cigna Preferred Medicare (HMO) became HealthSpring Preferred (HMO).

Cigna's Evernorth unit still supplies pharmacy benefit services, and authorizations issued by Cigna Medicare before January 1, 2026 stay valid until they expire.

Medicare Rehabhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/medicare/
Is HealthSpring a Medicare plan or a Medicaid plan?

HealthSpring is a Medicare brand. It sells Medicare Advantage (Part C), standalone Part D drug plans and Medicare Supplement policies, and it runs no Medicaid managed care plan. Its link to Medicaid is the TotalCare and TotalCare Plus D-SNPs, for individuals who have both Medicare and Medicaid.

On the Georgia TotalCare Plus D-SNP for 2026, inpatient mental health, outpatient therapy and outpatient substance use services are $0, with the Part B deductible applying to PHP and IOP.

HealthSpring is the Medicare insurance brand of Health Care Service Corporation, selling Medicare Advantage, Part D and Medicare Supplement plans that carried the Cigna Healthcare Medicare name until January 1, 2026. For anyone arranging addiction treatment, that means the card in hand is a Medicare card, and the rules that decide what gets paid are Medicare rules applied through a private plan.

The name is new; the plans are not. HCSC bought The Cigna Group’s Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, Part D and CareAllies businesses in a deal that closed on March 19, 2025, and renamed the Medicare products HealthSpring for the 2026 coverage year. Cigna Preferred Medicare (HMO) became HealthSpring Preferred (HMO), and Cigna TotalCare (HMO D-SNP) became HealthSpring TotalCare (HMO D-SNP). A program contracted with Cigna Medicare is contracted with HealthSpring, and an authorization Cigna Medicare issued before January 1, 2026 stays valid until it expires.

This guide sets out which levels of addiction care appear as HealthSpring benefit lines, which of them need prior authorization and who reviews the request, what 2026 plan documents show a member paying, how medication for opioid and alcohol use disorder is covered, and how to work out whether a program sits inside the network.
