Flower Hospital – Sylvania Reviews and Ratings
Have you or a loved one been treated at Flower Hospital? A few lines about admissions, the staff and what happened after treatment ended can help another family in Sylvania weigh the same choice.
This is probably one of the dirtiest hospitals I've ever gone to. Your bathrooms are absolutely disgusting and if you look along the pathway that people walk you can literally see old dirt and even dust on top of the… old dirt or things just haven't been cleaned. Just look at the photos of one of the sinks by the cafeteria. Somebody needs to go through your environmental services and just wipe that slate clean and start over because your standards have fallen so far that there's no recovering from it. Everything that has walked in through those doors live in that dirt and grime.
They really don't care here. Just get in and out. Don't listen to what's happening with their patients. You're just a $ sign
ER room staff is unprofessional. Verbally harassed my sister when she was in the ER and ripped out her IV so she was bleeding everywhere.
I wouldn't know where to begin with what's wrong with this place and unfortunately Flower hospital being attached to them isn't much help but rather promedica overshadows Flower hospital care and policies. I have… cancer, I have had cancer for a long time and guess who my care provider has been the entire time I had cancer but didn't know I had cancer? Yes, promedica, I've been a patient there for over the past twelve years nearly and they never diagnosed my cancer, even sent me to an orthopedic specialist and he said it was a muscle pull. It was a tumor about the size of a baseball in my hip and if he had done his job correctly he would have seen it 6 months prior to me having to go to emergency room for it. As a Cancer patient there you will definitely feel like your in some kind of assembly line for treatments. Dr Mecari is definitely not the cancer doctor you want for your care, very cold fish and definitely not informative. He also wants nothing to do with your pain management, if he even believes your in pain to start with. I put up with a year of being bullied by their staff, lied to about my care, absolutely no patient backing whatsoever, treat you like it doesn't matter if you get cared for there or not so guess what, I quit. Yep that's right, I quit my cancer care and treatments, I quit choosing to go there and be abused by their staff, threatened when I am a paying customer, big money too. I would rather die, get no care whatsoever anymore before I'd go back to that hospital and get treated again. I'd rather deal with the pain and let my life end sooner rather than later than to keep being treated like I don't matter, my life, my treatments, and the money they charge my insurance for all that? Just to treat me like I don't matter? In the middle of my treatments? When my cancer is spreading and coming back where we just got rid of it? Naw, I'll die with dignity and self respect, I'm not begging them to do their jobs anymore. I honestly should find a lawyer because they screwed up to begin with not finding it for the past twelve years I've been in their care. I mean how did they miss it after all that time if they off such top notch health care? Im stage 3-4 folks and that is when they finally found it, tumors throughout my body in places I spoke of in doctors visits about pain in those areas. For years folks my cyatic nerve was wrapped up with a tumor about size of a baseball, excruciating pain, yet they didn't believe my pain nor ever checked well enough to find the tumor. It took an emergency, near rupture of the tumor on the nerve, to finally do their jobs and found I had cancer... already late stages because they couldn't be bothered to do their jobs in any of the years prior I was in their care. No I definitely cannot recommend this hospital nor anything affiliated with them including flowers hospital. You cannot get decent cancer care with promedica attached to your care team. Again, I actually quit treatments and chose dying over getting care at this hospital anymore, they won't profit off my insurance any longer.
I will consider posting an appropriate review later on the advice of my hippa attorney advocate. If your a senior and needing quality care and don't have family or friend to go with you to emergency I myself would drive… a few more miles to St. ANN where each patient is treated with kindness and care or somewhere you haven't read bad reviews over a long consistent period of time with many people stating the same things. Anyways love and prays on your journey through the system... I hope I was able to help even 1 is worth my time writing this. Blessing to all.
There are doctors that I have never heard of or seen leaving medical exam reports that are completely inaccurate and untrue. I was treated much better and with dignity at Bay Park before being transferred here for… surgery. They say that as a patient, I have the right to: >Be treated with dignity and respect >Have appropriate assessment and management of my pain. Their patient information guide also states "patients whose pain is well controlled tend to do better after surgery and have fewer problems." That's why I'm laying here hours after a surgery, with a pain level of 10 and nobody cares Dignity and respect, what a joke!
Worst experience ever the last time I was in....got me in...billed it out and sent me home with no treatment...I needed treatment ASAP and they didnt want to mess with it....gave me a referral saying Monday they can get… you fixed up...when I called the surgeon they had nothing for me...never got anything..so thankyou for a painful weekend thinking I was taken care of....never again... zero stars from me
Told them no vaccines for my.new born baby they did it anyways when we're looking for them drs are bs here
I went here recently and had a mixed experience. While some of the doctors were actually quite thorough and seemed to genuinely care about my recovery, the overall organization of the place left a lot to be desired. I… ended up waiting for a very long time in the lobby, and the communication between different departments felt pretty confusing at times. It is an okay place for basic medical needs, but the administrative side of things could definitely use some major improvement.
ER is ridiculous! Never again. 6/14/26 so I did return against my better judgement. Post sct and broke out in shingles. No care in the world for my post conditions or how it would affect me now. Sent home with an up on… my meds and was given discharge papers with my meds. Okay then. Next day shingles have now spread onto my spine making it hard to walk. Called my BMT team and they told me to go back and ask for iv medication as I have a problem absorbing pill form. Sitting in my room over heard nurse talking to drs about how some other doctor told me to come in and they could call them whoever that is and it’s just the shingles and it’s just a Bmt. And they are too busy for this. Mind you I called and asked if they’d even see me after being here last night. I just would have expected a little compassion from nurses who are supposed to be treating me.
I usually go here because I love Promedica and I've been going to this hospital for the last 6 years. But boy, has this place has really went downhill. Both security guards were extremely rude. I had one rudely ask if I… had scissors?! I figured he was asking because I had forgotten to take my ring off before going through the metal detector but when I tried to take it off to go through it again (because I thought that's what he was implying) he was like, "No no no, you don't gotta do it again." And then the other security guard was rudely telling my boyfriend he couldn't hit his vape even though he wasn't anywhere near the entrance and had walked a ways away. Went out of his way to tell the other guy, "Keep an eye on this one" And both security guards were loudly talking about us. And we couldn't even wait because they were luring over us. We had to leave for the mercy ER instead, plus the wait time was ridiculous.
Their psychiatric team is horrific. I am autistic and ADHD and was scared and having a meltdown. They injected me with something and put me in a straight jacket and padded room. I was trying to explain and frightened… that I was involuntarily put there. They wouldn't let me use the phone. The doctor in the unit put me on a medication that caused severe problems and it was medication I didn't even need in the first place..it made me gain 25 lbs in a few months and put stress on my heart. I have such bad PTSD from this place and nightmares and flashbacks. I wish I could sue them and don't know how to
Worst place ever. Show up for a scan and their internet is down. 100 percent chance they do nothing for this inconvenience or give some sort of credit off my bill either. Look at how bad their reviews are. You’re better… off anywhere else
I was in the ER last night toʻ have a cat scan of my stomach done the pain was out of control. I have had this nurse before forgetting to catch his name. But he has a mustache that curls up at the ends. He is amazing!… He is so calming when im freaking out making sure im comfortable be for they start looking into what's wrong. I wish I could go to him all the time he listened a explaines what was going on! Thank You Mustache Guy!! There should be more like you
Sitting in ER 4 hours with an 85 year old who fell and hit her head, broke her hand. Went to urgent care to avoid ER but was sent to ER. Unacceptable. Understaffed? Close your ER.
This place is absolutely pathetic. I’ve been here for at least 3 hours now (March 17th) and in my unit there is an obviously elderly woman, crying out in pain, loud enough to be heard from other rooms. She sounds so… distressed and in pain, screaming “help me” and “ow” and etc. we can hear her audibly sob. Despite this, it seems not a single medical professional is in there soothing her or helping her with pain management. This has to be inhumane.
My daughter had an EEG recently. The technician Megan was very kind, she explained things very well and provided excellent care! Elizabeth was very friendly, thoughtful and gave my daughter a bottle of water so I… wouldn't have to run out to my vehicle to get one. Thank you both for the exceptional service!
In late December (around December 28th), I presented to Flower Hospital with a serious abdominal infection. Multiple attempted drainages failed, my condition continued to worsen, and I was discharged home with an… elevated white blood cell count on a general, non-targeted antibiotic, despite clear signs that my infection was not controlled. Four days after being sent home, I deteriorated rapidly and had to be transported by full ambulance to Toledo Hospital Trauma Center. At that time, my heart rate was in the 190s, my blood pressure was approximately 190/100, I was unable to breathe, and I had a high fever of 103–104°F. I was diagnosed with septic shock and required emergency, life-saving intervention. I ultimately spent over 40 days in ICU and critical care to survive. During my care at Flower Hospital, my general surgeon, Dr. M. Shahzad Hasan, was dismissive and unprofessional. Rather than addressing the failed drainage, active infection, and clinical deterioration, he focused on my weight and made inappropriate comments, while failing to recognize or act on the severity of my condition. The failure to escalate care and the decision to discharge me in an unstable state nearly cost me my life. After this failure of care, Flower Hospital sent me a $50,000 bill, despite the fact that I had to be transferred elsewhere to survive. My life has been permanently changed as a result of what happened here. I am deeply grateful to Toledo Hospital Trauma Center for saving my life. Flower Hospital and Dr. Hasan put me in that position to begin with. I would strongly caution anyone with a serious or complex medical condition to seek care elsewhere
Stuck up nurses. Is all I gotta say
The staffing as a whole was fast, efficient and caring. Doctor Bruss was on it, fantastic guy.
The front desk at Flower Hospital's emergency room were fine. But it's the overworked nurses and social workers who are not following protocol that are a cause for concern.
Don't even try to go to the ER here, just go to Toledo or somewhere else. Triage is terrible, and you are left waiting for 2+ hours even when writhing in pain sitting in the lobby. Was also told at front desk when I… asked how long it would be that " 3 nurses just left so it may take a little longer yet". Why are you sending nurses home or not asking some to stay over, or providing adequate staffing when you have multiple people waiting in the lobby for hours. Whether you go here with 30 people in the waiting room, or 5, the entire process is pitiful.
Small surgery earlier in the year. Fantastic experience. If youre reading the reviews, please go back into your records and see who was all involved. Every nurse and supporting staff deserves a raise.
Worst hospital ever dont recommend
I won't be coming back here, simply because they don't care about their disabled guests. The people are amazing. Jenny, in ultrasound, was kind, gentle, and awesome. This is how people who care treat patients. The… following is the problem though Handicapped parking is a joke. The spaces are tiny. There is no room next to the space to even open my car door, let alone adjust for my assistance device. I'll be making appointments for testing and anything else which needs to be done elsewhere. Such a shame. I said to the person who checked me on that I had a complaint. She said, "the parking?". These people know it! I told her the HC parking spaces aren't even HC. She knew it. The hospital is aware. It just doesn't care. This hospital has had parking garage issues for years. I thought it meant but be fixed by now. It's worse. When I got back to my car someone new (minivan) had parked next to me and it was even worse than when I had parked. You're a hospital. You should know better. You're supposed to care.
IF YOU WANNA DIE SLOWLY WHILE WAITING IN LINE TO GET IN TO ER COME HERE YOULL HAVE A BLAST👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Ill advise patients of my own now, NOT TO GO TO PROMEDICA FLOWER. You will sit in the waiting room for a couple hours, then get charged $8,000 for a 3 hour ER visit. They are inhumane, and horrible to people. Again I’ll… advise all my patient’s not to be seen at a Promedica facility, absolutely embarrassing to treat humans like that, when you’re there to “help”. $8,000 for 3 hours?! Do better.
