Court Ordered Rehab Centers in Ohio

A treatment order in Ohio can start in a criminal case, an OVI sentence, a certified specialized docket, or a separate civil process under the state’s court-ordered treatment law. The written order, along with your attorney or supervising officer, is the best guide to what a program has to provide.

The Ohio listings here show programs that note they accept court-ordered clients. They draw on government treatment registers, state licensing records, accreditor listings and details sent in by the providers themselves. RehabSeekers.com does not rank programs or speak for any court.

How does a court order someone into treatment in Ohio?

An Ohio court can order someone into treatment through a criminal case, a certified specialized docket, or a civil petition with no criminal charge. In criminal cases, a judge may make treatment a condition of a sentence, probation or a pretrial diversion agreement.

Who qualifies, what is required and what happens after completion differ from one court and one case to the next. Drug courts and similar dockets are certified by the Supreme Court of Ohio through its Commission on Specialized Dockets, and each docket sets its own terms.

The civil route, in the Ohio Revised Code since September 30, 2025, lets a court order residential, halfway house, intensive outpatient or outpatient care when a person has an alcohol or other drug problem, poses an imminent danger to self or others, and can reasonably benefit from treatment.
