DUI and DWI Programs in Ohio

Ohio law calls impaired driving OVI, short for operating a vehicle impaired. Many first-time offenders are offered the Driver Intervention Program, a two- or three-day course a court may allow in place of the mandatory three-day jail term. The Ohio Department of Behavioral Health certifies every Driver Intervention Program.

Listings here draw on government treatment registers, state licensing records, accreditor listings and details supplied by the providers themselves. Use them to find outpatient, intensive outpatient or residential care when an assessment or a judge calls for treatment beyond the course. The court decides what counts toward your case.

Common questions about DUI and DWI Programs

Answered from what is listed here.

Which Ohio cities have DUI programs?

Inwood, Grandview Heights, Newark, Kent and Steubenville are the Ohio places where DUI and DWI program listings cluster. Brooklyn, Columbus and Akron are larger cities nearby, so someone searching around those areas can widen the radius to compare education programs, assessments and outpatient options for an impaired driving case.

Rehab Centers in Newarkhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/ohio/newark-oh/
Do DUI programs in Ohio take Ohio Medicaid?

Coverage at DUI and DWI programs in Ohio runs through the Ohio Medicaid plan a member is enrolled in, and nearly all of the DUI and DWI programs in Ohio accept Ohio Medicaid. Plans include CareSource Ohio, Buckeye Community Health Plan and Molina Healthcare of Ohio.

Having a member ID ready makes a coverage check quicker when calling admissions, and intake staff can confirm whether the specific plan is accepted before any assessment is scheduled.

Rehab Centers in Ohio That Accept Ohio Medicaidhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/ohio/ohio-medicaid/
Are there DUI programs near a river in Ohio?

Within 25 miles of a river sit nearly all of the DUI and DWI programs in Ohio, with a median of about 7.7 miles from listed facilities to the nearest one. The Olentangy River and the East Fork Little Miami River are among the rivers named for programs in the state.

Rehab Centers Near Rivershttps://rehabseekers.com/attractions/rivers/

What DUI or OVI program does Ohio require, and who certifies it?

Ohio’s education program for a first OVI offense is the Driver Intervention Program, and the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health certifies each one.

Under Ohio Revised Code 4511.19 and 1547.99, a judge may let a first-time offender attend a Driver Intervention Program instead of serving the mandatory three-day jail term. The program combines alcohol and drug education with screening over two or three days. An education course is not clinical treatment. Counseling or a stay in a program is required only when an assessment or the court calls for it.

Ohio courts set the terms for a repeat or underage OVI case in the sentencing order. Check that order for required hours, deadlines and treatment, and ask the clerk or an attorney about anything unclear.
