Family Guidance Center – Reading Detox and Rehab Services
Family Guidance Center – Reading appears on the register for intensive outpatient and outpatient care. Structured outpatient runs to a schedule while people return home in the evening. Anyone unsure which level fits should ask for an assessment rather than choosing from a list, since placement criteria exist precisely to make that judgement.
Only one side is on record here, so ask directly if both are needed. The weekly time commitment varies considerably between providers, so establish it early rather than after admission.

Family Guidance Center – Reading Address, Location and Contact Information
1105 Berkshire Boulevard, Reading, Pennsylvania, 19610 is the address held. The city lies within Berks County. The site also serves the surrounding area, and anyone traveling in should confirm the route before setting out. Journey time and parking are not trivial details when treatment runs several times a week over months.
It is worth calling first to confirm access, parking and the shape of a first visit. Where travel is difficult, ask whether an initial appointment can be held remotely. Reception hours vary, so a call that goes unanswered once is worth repeating rather than treating as a dead end.

Terrible!! Dr.D told me absolutely, get your medical marijuana card. So I did. I get hooked up with this therapist who informs me that smoking is out. Every session it was mostly about not smoking. That is NOT what I… went there for. Make a long, messed up story short. After telling me she'll be first in line if they legalize marijuana. Then not only can I not see the therapist I get dismissed. I'm outta there. I lost Dr. D, who I trusted and adore. Run around..
The reason for a one star deduction is: The only issue I have is that I'm an ambulatory wheelchair user and the entrances are listed as being wheelchair accessible. For me personally, they are not accessible and I need… the help of someone else in order to get through them as I have issues with my hands which affect me being able to open the doors. The main building entrance doors and the door to their office do not have the wheelchair push buttons on them to open and close the doors,. Also, how the main building doors open make it hard to fit and I have to worry about one of the doors hitting my chair. So, I have to move over for the door to close and then go through the next door. The reason I like going here: I had a hard time finding a therapist who I felt safe, supported, and helped me. I really like the therapist I have here, she gives me resources and homework which I feel has been beneficial in a lot of ways. I feel like I'm learning better strategies for my issues and actually seeing growth from the time before coming here to now.
Absolutely do not recommend this place. Communication was extremely poor, and repeated attempts to get a response went nowhere. At a time when children’s mental health needs are greater than ever, the lack of… responsiveness and follow-through was especially disappointing.
I love this place and the new office so much. I have been a client for 15 years. I have grown by leaps and bounds and appreciate the support from my therapy team and caring and compassionate staff .
I have an awesome counselor Kenny.I have been looking at a long time for somebody. That re alive founded so grateful for all the help
I love my providers, Doreen Storz (physician assistant) and Nichole (therapist). They are amazing and caring. I previously saw Allison (therapist) in January until she transferred me to Nichole in February. Only… downside is the practice doesn’t use an EHR patient portal for patients to access their health information. Highly recommend this practice.
I have been using services at Family Guidance for many years and am very pleased. Saved my life.
Very helpful
Very poor service been waiting 2 months to see the psychiatrist to get on meds and nothing little ridiculous should have seen the psychiatrist the first week. Now I am left looking for another place to take me so I can… see the psychiatrist and get me on meds Family Guidance center left me hanging very very very poor service just racking money off my insurance for bad service in return!!
I use to like them however now ever since my counselor changed they never get my appointment right. I have my appointments written down and they call me saying I missed my appointment... No sir I have it written as I… heard them tell me. Plus when I call nobody ever picks up and never returns my calls. Now I received a letter saying I no longer can make appointments, because of your mistakes... Thank you for nothing. Worst place ever.
i've gone here since the beginning of my sophmore year of highschool. i am now a graduate going into college, and i probably wouldn't be here now if it werent for my therapist at family guidance center. i have been… helped so much, been accommodated with phone, video, and in person visits, and i always left feeling heard.
The intake person Georgie is awful. I stopped in to make an appointment per the website’s instructions and was told I needed to call. I called, and Georgie told me they weren’t making new appointments for about 2… months. I wanted to make an appointment, and cancel if I found something sooner, but Georgie thought “that would be a lot of work.” She said I should call around and find someone else. I made an appointment with another place only to have them cancel the day before because we have medical assistance as a secondary insurance. I tried Family Guidance again, and Georgie told me now they aren’t taking new patients and there’s no waitlist for when they do start accepting new patients.
I came for help as I was needing a counselor per my PCP. I’m so unhappy that I cancelled my following appt. I felt like I was being harassed by the therapist I was talking to about my personal choices and I feel like I… wasted my money as I got no help from this place. My therapist was only doing zoom calls too and I live in the woods with very little reception. I was getting annoyed because she said that she couldn’t continue anymore appts unless my zoom would work. Another reason why I cancelled the following appt. just not happy or pleased with the manor of some people here
Horrible. Counselor forgets about appointment. No one answers the phone, or emails. Leave messages & don't get a response. Just go somewhere else trust me
I’ve been coming here for two years now, good people, good service, pay no mind to the nay-sayers, ya cant please all the people all the time.
Absolutely terrible service, the front desk receptionist is a mean little vindictive person and they simply just dont take mental illness serious
Only because one star let's me mke . comment or it would be zero. Beware they do not communicate with the parent about when visits are, what the goals are be of therapy, be and in my case violations of Social Worker… code of ethics. My daughter was traumatized. This agencies counselor and her neglect and lack of ANY communication shows the arrogance of these professions thinking they are God's to our children and isolate them which is scary in that what agenda are they trying to influence my check with.
Really boring
