This will be a lengthy review but I think it is so important to give others insight into our specific situation and challenges with Antelope. I want to furthermore, preface this with the fact that I Voluntarily… initiated services with Antelope for my 2 children because it is in a virtual capacity and felt manageable. Additionally, one of my children (the 3rd child) was referred to Antelope by Broomfield courts due to my child being on a deferred judgement with the courts for a minor shoplifting incident. Needless to say it quickly became excessive and a hardship. One kid was doing 9.45 hours per week of various therapy (we live 45 mins from their school so drive time resulted in late visits) additionally another child was doing 2.45 minutes per week and lastly the final child was doing an hour session. You stack these visits on top of a mom who works full time-9-5 then is driving 2 hours in the am and 2 hours in the pm, running an independent business with 156 clients, multiple pets, a home to maintain, 4 children, a church schedule, pets, and a husband ; it was unattainable and costed more emotionally then what it was benefiting. Then we sorted out the schedule and I was able to lock in one day to get the girls therapeutic needs met only to be sent a somewhat snarky email from their therapist Ariel telling me to essentially commit to 6 additional sessions (ME) or else the girls would essentially not continue care with antelope. I think what this boiled down to was a loss of billable hours due to the decreased therapeutic schedule with my daughters in addition to a strong-arm /ultimatum situation. On top of that the therapist (Ariel) in my opinion due to her history was very biased and involved her personal experiences in a lot which I think contributed to her overall feelings about me, my parenting, what I was or was not doing, etc. She was not capable of holding my daughter accountable for behaviors and used their "trauma" to justify their behaviors. Unfortunately, we just live in a very soft world that believes that what you feel is valid and therefore condones a response whether appropriate or not. However, I come from the experience and mindset that having trauma is not an excuse to be a bad person, treat people poorly, use substances, and be disrespectful. So, the end result- I don not physically have the time to complete 2 parent coaching sessions per week (with Ariel, who I don't agree with) in addition to 4 other meetings (2 with each child as family therapy also with Ariel) overall this has been a terrible experience. I have felt judged, condemned, and the kids have painted whatever picture they want with Ariel who then utilized her personal experiences and biases to develop this mindset about who I am as a person and a parent and shame on them for not doing a better job supporting parents who have out of control teens/children. I have requested to speak with a supervisor and will update this review at that time. I want to add that my experience with Nick and the initial team who did our intake was great. That was a good process and overall while the insurance was being billed for a great deal of hours we had good communication, flexibility, and definitely no ultimatums. Once those hours decreased was when I noticed a change in tone quite frankly.
If you are looking for a therapist who truly cares about youth and teens and is dedicated to helping them achieve their goals, look no further than Antelope Recovery. They are knowledgeable, skilled, and always willing… to go above and beyond for their clients.

You couldn't ask for a more passionate, experienced team that really knows how to help teens and families in need.
Antelope Recovery is a fundamentally different and more effective approach to teen mental health recovery than anything else out there right now. They provide whole-person care in a way that is accessible to all, they… truly customize the care offered to each individual, and they truly understand the teen experience in present-day America. If I had a teen who was struggling with self-harm, suicidal ideation, depression, or anxiety, I would send them to Antelope!
As a licensed therapist, I trust and value the work of Antelope Recovery and the treatment they offer youth and their families. I have both past and recent experience working directly with several of the staff at… Antelope and doing art therapy groups for the program. They are a team of passionate people using creative, relational, and study proven methods to offer exceptional mental health care to those struggling with substance use, addictive or unsafe behaviors, and feeling lost in the world. I will continue to refer clients to them who could benefit.
If your teen is needing some support, you should know about Antelope Recovery! As a licensed clinical social worker, I have found the most difficult issue to treat is isolation and the associated mental health issues. I… was thrilled to find the suite of intentionally designed programs to connect teens…. made convenient and virtually accessible. This is an important new resource for teens and the people who love them. I have worked closely with Katia Nikitina and Antelope Recovery’s warm and welcoming community, and they are a thoughtful and talented team. This program, designed for young people and their families, goes a long way toward making high quality mental health support available for all. Philip Tedeschi, LCSW
Antelope Recovery is lucky to have Angela Flynn at Colorado Recovery. She is kind and approachable, she is able to form connections with people. Her nursing skills are outstanding. Great assessment and problem solving… skills. She is able to see clients as a “whole” person and not just a diagnosis. I have worked with Angie for a few years and would trust her with my own family. When seeking care for a loved one it great to have quality caregivers in place.
I have known Shelby for 5 years and can highly recommend her work. She is one of the most skilled and effective coaches I have ever worked with. She has extensive experience in the field of mental wellness, a deep… understanding of the human psyche and uses evidence-based techniques to help their clients achieve lasting change."
I'm so excited to see what Shelby is offering to the world, and to youth in particular, through Antelope Recovery. It seems to me that she has an innate and very palpable love for humanity which shines through all the… work she does. But it's not just love that shines through her work - she brings a unique intelligence and capacity for understanding, attuning to, and empathizing with people which translates into skillful and effective support for her clients. I have total trust and confidence that Antelope Recovery is being built on a solid foundation, rooted in love and service. My prayer is simply that those families and teens who are in need of their services will find them at just the right time.
Shelby is incredible at tracking the root of these challenges we face in life. Her diverse understanding of the complex human being and what is all truly transpiring for us catapults her into a new paradigm of teachers… and coaches whose assistance will actually make a difference. It's not like it was. This is a new time for healing.
Katia is a skilled and compassionate therapist who has also worked in the medical department at her previous job. Her working knowledge and many gifts have contributed greatly to Antelope Recovery!
Shelby Robbins has a deep understanding of what it means to be "human". Her warmth and compassion creates a strong, safe space for transformation. Through our coaching work together several years ago I was able to make… some huge and permanent shifts in my life. I highly recommend Shelby.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Shelby on my podcast was very impressed by her and the approach Antelope Recovery takes to teen mental health. Antelope provides both 1-1 and group support that helps teens in their… healing, and their mission to make this work accessible to as many people as possible is one that I am proud to support. I experience Shelby to be someone who is deeply caring and compassionate, and most importantly someone who provides tangible results for her clients. I highly recommend Shelby and Antelope Recovery.
Shelby Robbins is a fantastic coach and counselor. Empathetic. Insightful. Wise. Purposeful. I'm always impressed with the way she weaves together emotional presence and intellectual depth.
My daughter LOVED the teen group. She came out much more emotionally aware and attuned to her own feelings. She said it was deep, bonding, and healing. She was much more shy in middle school before the group and she… went into high school a more self assured and open girl. Her parent-teacher feedback in 9th grade was noticeably more positive about her engagement than the year before. Antelope understands teens and what they need. PERIOD.
