Arbor Behavioral Healthcare – Georgetown Reviews and Ratings
Questions worth keeping in mind while reading Arbor Behavioral Healthcare reviews: Was the assessment explained clearly? Were costs set out early? Was there a plan for after treatment?
Accounts that address points like these are usually the most informative.
I recommend the Arbor to anybody struggling with addiction and mental health. I was hesitant to leave my young daughter at home, but I am so grateful that I did so I could get the help I need to be the mom she needs… today. I didn't feel like a number here. The women's house feels like a home, the food is good, it's not a cafeteria its chefs and they are awesome. Brand new gym equipment and facilitated exercise. But aside from all of that, it's the people who put their time into the clients at the arbor that I appreciate the most. I had never been to an AA centered treatment facility, and this was life changing. I met with my counselor, Kalli once a week and had the opportunity to meet with her more if I wanted to. I met with my recovery manger, Paula once a week as well. The Psych doctor, Kasey is ON HER GAME. I was able to meet with her within the first week of arrival. I felt like my needs and concerns were met across the board. Being surrounded by nature and horses was very therapeutic. Just about everyone working there is in recovery which I also respect and appreciate. Swing by the barn and meet with the horse ladies they are amazing, even if you don't want to do equine. The techs are amazing shout out to Laura, Kevin, and Trent!
The Arbor will forever be one of the places that forever changed the course of my life. I arrived at the Arbor immediately after spending six days in detox. I was terrified, ashamed, overwhelmed, and convinced that my… life had completely fallen apart. I believed I had lost my marriage, my family, my career, and everything I had worked so hard for. Walking into residential treatment was never somewhere I imagined my life would take me. The Arbor gave me much more than a place where I couldn’t drink. It gave me the space to finally understand my addiction, look honestly at myself, begin dealing with the damage my drinking had caused, and learn how to live differently. The staff didn’t simply tell me what I wanted to hear. They challenged me, supported me, encouraged me, and helped me begin doing the work that recovery required. There was also something incredibly special about the community of women there. We came from completely different backgrounds and walks of life, yet somehow we understood one another in ways that people outside of addiction sometimes can’t. There were tears and incredibly hard days, but there was also laughter, prayer, encouragement, and friendships that made those difficult days a little easier. My faith also became an important part of my healing. I can look back now and see God’s hand in so many details that I couldn’t understand while I was living through them. I walked into The Arbor feeling broken and hopeless. I did not walk out with a perfect life or every relationship instantly repaired, but I walked out with hope, tools, accountability, and a foundation for recovery. And then I went home and kept doing the work. Today, more than three years after my last drink, I am still sober. My marriage and family are healing, and relationships I once feared I had destroyed have experienced restoration that I wasn’t sure was possible. My life today is something I honestly could not have imagined when I first came to The Arbor. Treatment wasn’t easy. There were moments I wanted to leave. There were things I didn’t want to hear and things about myself I didn’t want to face. But looking back, I am grateful that treatment wasn’t simply made comfortable for me. I needed people willing to help me face the truth while also reminding me that my life was worth fighting for. I will always be grateful for The Arbor, the staff who poured into me, the women who walked beside me, and the role this place played in my recovery. It will forever be a transforming part of my story.
I went to the Arbor at my rock bottom in 2023. My life was falling apart around me and I could not pull myself out of the despair. My family reached out to the Arbor for help and I’m so grateful that they did. My time… at the Arbor changed my life. My addiction had taken me so deep into despair that I didn’t even know where to begin to get my life back on track. The staff at the Arbor took their time to help me learn about myself and find out who I am. The time and care they took to teach me about addiction, boundaries, family systems and reliance on a higher power changed how I was able to approach life. They gave me the support and resources I needed to live a life in recovery and it has been beautiful. My family life, personal accountability and interpersonal relationships have completely shifted to allow for real connection for the first time in my life. This program works if you work it. I was at my lowest point 3 years ago and now I will be getting married to the love of my life this upcoming year. I owe everything to the Arbor and the people who make this place what it is.
This is just the downside of the arbor They separate the male clients not male staff from female clients they can’t even look at each other and the opposite sex of just the clients demonized They charge coins like a… witch there food is made starting at 5 am in the kitchen you’ll be woken up to pots banging and you get no contact for the first two weeks if you don’t go to every class your insurance will deny payments to the arbor and they get rid of you immediately soon no payment there a lot of down time you can’t read books what else the rooms sometimes get up 4 people sleeping in on room with a shared bathroom your stuff gets stolen if left out and they make you wait for your family to pay for postage and envelopes bye it’s $800 dollars a day Not enough snacks for everyone you can’t bring in any food or drinks no soda ever to other then that’s it’s really calm place to start over
Arbor Behavioral Healthcare changed my life. When I first reached out for help, I was struggling with alcoholism, prescription medication abuse, and years of unresolved trauma, guilt, shame, and pain. I felt lost,… broken, and unsure of how to move forward. One of the people who made the biggest impact on my journey was Miss Tiffany from the admissions team. From our very first conversation, she truly listened to me. She was honest, compassionate, and encouraged me to take the first step by going to detox and then entering treatment. Looking back, that phone call helped save my life. After detox, I arrived at Arbor scared and uncertain about what was ahead. The first person I saw was Miss Tiffany. She greeted me with the biggest hug and said, “Come here, sweetie.” That simple act of kindness meant more to me than she’ll ever know. Even today, she still checks on me and encourages me in my recovery. If it weren’t for her, I honestly don’t know where I would be. The staff at Arbor helped me do a deep dive into myself and address the root causes behind my addiction. They challenged me to be honest, accountable, and willing to change. They introduced me to the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous and helped me understand that recovery is about much more than just not drinking. It’s about transforming your life. Today, I am 2 years sober, rebuilding relationships, pursuing my goals, and living a life I never thought was possible. Arbor gave me the restart I desperately needed. I can honestly say that if it weren’t for Arbor Behavioral Healthcare and people like Miss Tiffany, I might not be here today. I will be forever grateful for the care, support, and hope they gave me. If you’re considering treatment, don’t be afraid to take that first step. It changed my life. Please make sure to pass on my heartfelt words and appreciation to those I’ve mentioned! Thank you!
The staff genuinely care. This is a wonderful place to get yourself back on track and get healthy mentally, spiritually and physically. Tiffany is their hidden gem.
Attended the 2-day Family Workshop with my husband to support our son and we found the experience to be very helpful and useful. I would encourage any family in ours or a similar situation with The Arbor to strongly… consider attending. The information they provide is truthful, factual and presented with kindness and compassion. All the speakers were knowledgeable and willing to openly share their personal experiences with addiction and recovery, which was relatable to our family, and likely to many others as well. I want to thank the staff at The Arbor for their overwhelming support during a trying time. We are very grateful.
I’ve been to treatment centers all over the country, and I can honestly say there was something different about The Arbor. From the moment I arrived, the level of care, accountability, and genuine support was unlike… anything I had experienced before. The staff doesn’t just treat addiction. They care deeply about the individual person sitting in front of them. Every member of my care team took the time to understand me, challenge me, support me, and walk with me through the process of rebuilding my life. There’s an ethos at The Arbor that’s hard to describe unless you’ve experienced it yourself. It’s a balance of accountability and compassion that changed me completely. What stood out most to me was how holistic the program is. They truly focus on healing the whole person emotionally, mentally, spiritually, physically, socially, and environmentally. I’ve been through many different types of treatment, but this was the first place where I learned how to actually live in recovery, not just survive sobriety. Their continuum of care, from treatment to aftercare to sober living, gave me the structure and support I needed to build a real foundation. I came to The Arbor desperate, exhausted, and dying. Today, I am a woman in recovery who is genuinely proud of who she is and committed to giving back what was given to me there. I treasure my experience at The Arbor and am deeply grateful to be part of their alumni community. I truly could not recommend a treatment center more highly.
Me and my team of interventionists and treatment professionals at Whitman Recovery Service have worked with many treatment programs over the years, and The Arbor Behavioral Healthcare continues to be one of my most… trusted resources. A major reason for that is Tiffany Tidwell. I often reach out while navigating very difficult and complicated situations, trying to help clients and families gain access to the highest level of care when it is urgently needed. Tiffany consistently handles these challenges with tact, professionalism, and remarkable skill. She has an exceptional ability to meet families where they are emotionally, provide calm and clear direction, and help all of us navigate the next right steps during some of the most critical moments of a person’s life. Her leadership, knowledge, passion, empathy, and genuine concern for others are evident in every interaction. Most importantly, her integrity makes her someone I trust without hesitation. I have referred countless clients and loved ones to the Arbor through the years, and they have consistently had life-changing healing experiences. The program itself is outstanding, and the care, support, and professionalism of the entire team set them apart. Tiffany and the Arbor will always remain one of my first calls when someone needs real help, hope, and a chance at lasting recovery. I would trust them with my own care or with the care of my family members if it were ever needed.
I am writing this review with one-year sober thanks to the staff at The Arbor. Ms. Tiffany at admissions never gave up on me when it comes to getting me back into treatment when my life was going the wrong way. The… admissions team to the family coordinators all the way to the counseling staff & recovery- care techs, there is so much compassion & love for the people that come in there. I owe a lot of my success in my recovery to The Arbor. I am still in their after-care with living in their sober living & had completed their IOP program as well. I will always recommend The Arbor to anyone that struggles with addiction. This is the best place to reset & put the healthy things back in order in your life. I thank The Arbor staff for all that you have done for me. The resilience & unrelenting love that was shown towards me taught me that I am worth it & that I deserve a healthy life. **Update**—I am writing this at 2 years & 2 months sober. Throughout my journey in recovery, I completed 18months of sober living at the Hyde Park men’s house. I understood the importance of being apart of a community, with a sense of belonging, & an opportunity to continue helping the new roommate moving into the house. After completing IOP, I continued to stay plugged in to our Arbor Alumni Group that meets every Wednesday night at 7:30pm. What this looked like, was getting a service commitment & staying as involved with the community around me. All that to say, a sense of belonging, consistency, a schedule that I stuck to & making sure I ran my “bright” ideas towards three mentors at least because I am impulsive. I know have been living in my own apartment in my own name, embracing solitude & staying at the heart of being of service to my fellow brothers. Knowing that “I am connected to others”, “I matter in the lives of others”, & “I have something to give.” I embraced a new job, stayed consistent to my schedule, attended the alumni meeting as a home group & stayed involved in the Drug Addicts Anonymous fellowship. I understand that I no longer need to fix my past & begin participating in the present. I thank the Arbor staff, in all the areas of long-term after care & also the ones that work in residential treatment. I allowed others to help me & genuinely took a posture of humble-willingness. Shout out to my sponsor Patrick Dixon, grand-sponsor Josh Snell, Nick Erngstrom, John Schwartz, Victoriano Trevino, and Hamza Naeem. There is hope, keep moving forward, there is so much life in front of you. Blessings, Blaise
I am impressed with the Family support.
As a professional in the industry, we must be able to recognize those who impact the daily functioning of the organization. The ones who live their lives serving others, this person is Tiffany, a true professional and a… standout representative of The Arbor BH Georgetown. She leads with compassion, integrity, and an authentic commitment to service that is felt the moment you work with her. Tiffany sets the gold standard for how to build productive, ethical partnerships—not just with providers, but with people—always prioritizing what’s in the best interest of those seeking recovery. Her approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and deeply rooted in respect for the work we all do in this field. More than that, Tiffany’s consistency, responsiveness, and heart for recovery make a tangible impact every single day. It’s safe to say she is quite literally saving lives through her unwavering dedication to the recovery community. Austin is better because of her presence and leadership.
In the two years since I exited this program I’ve read a few books on the for-profit recovery industry that softened my opinion quite a bit. However, being the least problematic in a plagued system doesn’t make it… deserving of insincere or bolstered reviews. While I have remained sober, the only credit I can give The Arbor was in physically removing me from access to substances and my luck in being assigned the least experienced and least jaded counselor who was still green enough to really care. For the sake of brevity, I will bullet point a few of my negative concerns and a few of the positives: -Website promises vs delivered services. Equine therapy, for example, you don’t even touch a horse until after 30 days. Counseling sessions: my first one was two weeks into my stay and once a week for one hour afterward. My counselor at one point was so stressed about overcrowding in the men’s facility he had to stop himself from complaining about it in one session and remind himself to focus on me. His name had five letters and started with T. He was great. -Meal times and women’s accommodations: Meals were fantastic but we routinely had fewer than 10 minutes to eat them and could not save leftovers. Because kitchen facilities are in the women’s house, we had to hide ourselves from the men, locking ourselves in our rooms for 2 hours a day while the men lined up, ate, and cleaned up. -Treatment method: Is 100% 12 Step. There is not much here you couldn’t get at the plentiful AA meetings in the area. Sometimes when staff was stretched thin, other program participants with barely 30 days in ran the meetings. It was the blind leading the blind. -Dispensation of medicine: I saw a virtual doctor twice during my stay for no longer than 5 minutes. To receive medications, we had to line up first come first served. More than once the allotted time ran out and I didn’t receive my blood pressure medication. Staff blamed me for being late, even though I was always one of the first in line. I finally kicked up a fuss and got someone in administration to take me seriously. You can’t just not give people their blood pressure medication. On the positive side: -The facility is nice and comfortable, not as nice as the website or their price tag make it out to be though. There was always tea and coffee, and usually juice and snacks. -It’s a good place to start recovery - you’re away from the real world, totally focused on yourself and how to get better. Days are regimented and get you used to a routine. I left after 24 days due to female drama in the house, but also because I knew I could continue to do basically the exact same thing at home going to AA meetings and getting a sponsor. And I had a supportive situation to come home to. -Overall, if you’re looking into programs, I would recommend this one, but that’s largely based on accounts I’ve read of other programs (Rehab: An American Scandal by Shoshana Walter published in 2025 is a great place to start.) This facility is, let’s admit it, a luxury facility. One of the clients I was there with was the child of an enormously rich celebrity. They kind of have to maintain standards or risk being sued. Good luck to you! I’ve been sober 711 days. Even though I often felt like I was getting ripped off and treated like a child and a paycheck, it definitely gave me the jump start I needed.
Love the arbor it saved my life
Saved my life and continues to support me. Also I asked for more equine for Christmas!
The Arbor quite literally saved my life. I came in completely broken and out of options, and from the moment I arrived, the staff met me with compassion, honesty, and the structure I desperately needed. This was the… first place where I felt truly seen—not just as someone struggling with addiction, but as a human being who deserved healing and hope. The Arbor gave me the gift of desperation that turned into the gift of freedom. I left with tools, confidence, and a sense of purpose I didn’t think I’d ever feel again. If you are struggling—or if you love someone who is—this is where you want to be. I am living proof that recovery is possible, and The Arbor is the reason I’m sober today. Thank you, Arbor family. I owe you everything.
I was referred to The Arbor by a close friend who got sober here 5 years ago, and I’m so glad I trusted them. I was turned off to AA before coming here because of the whole God thing. I had gone to other treatment… centers before and tried alternative recovery programs, but never cracked open a big book until I got here. I came in through The Arbor’s doors as a husk of a human being. I was miserable in my addiction and miserable the multiple times I tried to get sober on my own. I couldn’t stand to sit in my own skin. I was desperate for a solution - a way out of my suffering. I gave my all to this program and trusted the direction of the staff and reaped the benefits almost immediately. My recovery manager, Mike, changed my life. He loved me when I couldn’t love myself. Never in any of my past treatment experiences have we had someone directly in charge of our recovery program. The recovery managers act as a stand in sponsor while you’re in treatment and hold you accountable for progressing in your step work. This is a true dual diagnosis facility as well. My therapist Gabi was very supportive in my journey here, as I do struggle with co-occurring disorders. EMDR is an option for those with trauma who are staying long term (which I highly recommend if you can). Equine therapy was another asset - I had Danielle and worked with Tilly and gained a whole new set of tools for coping and regulation that I wouldn’t have gained in traditional talk therapy. The psychiatrists and medical team are highly qualified and don’t just push pills for the sake of pushing pills. Every single staff member at The Arbor is committed to helping you grow in your recovery. From the admissions team (shout out Tiffany) to the support staff, this place made me feel like I was in good hands every step of the way. I left with a newfound sense of self worth and direction and confidence in myself to keep working the program. Thank you to The arbor for giving me my life back. I highly recommend this facility for any out there who are still suffering and genuinely want to live a life worth living.
This place was a lifesaver for me! I could tell how much everyone cared. I honestly don’t believe I could’ve gotten sober without this place and the amazing staff! Everything was great, the knowledge and support of… staff was incredible. The place was also extremely peaceful. The food was hands down the best food I’ve ever eaten! Overall I would suggest anyone struggling to go here- seriously saved my life!
I have a very long history with this place, The Arbor. I was in the very first group to go through here. I think I was client #13 or #14. After I got out, I spent 10 years bringing a meeting to the Arbor, trying to do… what I thought was right. Please listen to what I say - do not ever, send anyone here, or to any other treatment center. I spent 15 years around AA, I stayed sober for 10 years, and I have one thing to tell you: STAY. AWAY. FROM TREATMENT CENTERS. Look at the one star reviews, that are from actual clients, and not the 5 star reviews who are from people who WORK THERE, or clients who just got out, who the Staff guilts into leaving a review. It is truly sick. I have written a lot of reviews lately, on my Google and Yelp accounts, please, look at those reviews, and I will plan to update my review here, but I don't have time to write it now.
There are no words that I could ever say to express my gratitude and appreciation for The Arbor. They have so many different things that helped me to get out of the terrible place I was in mentally, physically and… emotionally. The staff is amazing and you truly meet people you know you can count on your entire life. They give you so many tools and teach you so many things to be able to deal with life. I love seeing events coming up because I just cannot wait to visit and show the life I’m living to those who helped. If anyone you know or your family needs help from substance abuse to alcoholism to behavioral issues this is the place to go. Thank you Arbor for helping save me! ❤️
This place saved my life. Due to the staff and the programming I am able to show up as a brother, an uncle, a son, a dog owner, a friend, a coworker, and someone who gives instead of takes.
The Arbor SAVED my life!! I am a little over 2 years sober the day I walked into the Arbor was the day my life changed forever. The staff is amazing and understanding!! The dual treatment helped me so much especially… Equine Thearpy loved to work with the horses. Being part of the alumni is the best part!!! Yearly reunions that have been a blast on top of educational!!! Who knows where I’d be if it wasn’t for The Arbor. Truly grateful for my experience and the bonds through recovery I’ve made ♥️
Ive had a lot of experience with the clients from the arbor, they’ve always impressed me. The staff does an outstanding job instilling a message of recovery. They’ve helped me personally with my recovery through the… work they do within their establishment. It truly brings joy to my heart to see the lives they change for the better through the work they do everyday to help people with whatever problem they have.
I know a lot of the staff here personally and they are some of the most caring people. They genuinely care about their clients and want the absolutely best for them and their families!
I recently was discharged from The Arbor Behavioral Healthcare Residential Treatment Center and my experience during my 55 day stay was less than meaningful, to say the least. The clinical staff was plagued with… miscommunication, lack of transparency, and an overall sub par level of experience. During my stay, I was lied to, manipulated, and coerced into “falling in line”. The words that come to mind are “manufactured powerlessness” and “manipulated outcomes”. What I mean by this is, if you don’t fit into the Arbor’s “recovery box” then you are going against the grain of THEIR program of recovery. They will use words and phrases such as “not surrendered” or “unwilling”. The reality of it, is that it’s literally YOUR recovery, so why would you not want as much information as possible? Upon arrival, I was told at the admissions office that my insurance would cover 45 days, which I was perfectly content with. When I started my family sessions and individual counseling, it was explained to me that the curriculum was a 90 curriculum so I accepted that I would not be able to complete the full curriculum. After further discussion, it was explained to me that the “recommended discharge plan” for all clients is completing the 90 day curriculum, followed by residing at The Arbor owned, Sober Living houses (Hyde Park and Fallen tower, $3500 and $1500 a month, respectively) combined with The Arbor Intensive Outpatient Program. From the start I explained that I was not willing to continue into the Arbor Sober Living houses, but was willing to continue with the IOP Program. The clinical staff was unwilling to meet me in the middle and continued to try and force sober living on me and manipulate my wife by explaining that this was the most viable option for long term sobriety. During the family sessions where the program director teaches about addiction (and ONLY the disease modality) At the end of the day, you have to realize that ALL treatment centers for addiction, or if they try and disguise themselves behind titles like “behavioral health”, they are ALL in it for profit, with a secondary purpose of helping people with their mental illness or addiction issues. If you are considering The Arbor or ANY OTHER treatment centers for yourself or a loved one, PLEASE do your research, ask questions, don’t allow the staff to beat around the bush and respond with open ended answers. There are multiple avenues to recovery outside of residential treatment centers and step-based programs. You just have to be willing to ask the hard questions, and be brave enough to explore other options in your own life!
I spent around 2 months at the Arbor earlier in the year, and I'm just getting around to writing this. I want to start with the good of The Arbor. I'm writing this review nearly 5 months sober, and staff members like… Michael Dorn, Libbey Walker and Amy Alden are outstanding and genuinely care about your recovery. The 1-on-1 sessions, in particular, were life-changing, and I made a lot of great friendships with other clients there. That said, there's a lot of shadiness. When I was vetting rehabs, I was told that they offer 30, 60 and 90-day programs and that I'd be able to regularly communicate with family members. Once you're there, they tell you -- and your family members -- that it's a 90-day program and fearmonger your family into believing you need to stay as long as possible and sacrifice all of your financial assets. They treat every patient as if he/she needs the same exact treatment/program length. You could argue that the misbehaving clients get the most attention/special treatment, especially from men's house leader Tamara Segura. I was uninsured, so I could not afford to stay longer than 60 days (it's very costly out of pocket). They, thankfully, discharged me right at that mark. Still, Tamara tried to hold me two extra days because "my parents requested" that I stay until Monday. I talked to my parents an hour after she told me that, and they denied what she said. No way of knowing for sure, but it seemed like a white lie in order for the Arbor to get $2,000 extra. In one meeting, a staff member, Nick Engstrom, pressured me into staying longer (which I could not afford), saying "you wouldn't only get nine chemo treatments if you needed 12, right?" Nonsensical analogy. You can only make one phone call a week for 15 minutes, always monitored by staff. Sure, you can send letters, but it's not right that you can't have ANY instant communication without somebody in your business. There DEFINITELY are people that care about you and your recovery at the Arbor. But as a whole, it operates more as a business than somewhere for addicts to recover.
Stunning facility, great team and overall great treatment for those in need.
This place is not dual diagnosis. They will only go over the AA Big Book. I spent 100 days there doing the same big book work every day. Sure it worked, but I wasn’t an alcoholic. I needed mental health care which they… know nothing about. Furthermore, they drove a wedge between my mother and I. And then refused to let me participate in my own aftercare. I requested to be in IOP and sober living in Fort Worth - they lied and said nothing existed there and refused to help me, even though I lived in Fort Worth and wanted to be there. I got dropped off at a sober living I. Plano 30 minutes from my IOP in Dallas and they didn’t give a shit that I was having to pay to uber every day. Since then I have found the most amazing PHP and IOP program in Fort Worth all geared around mental health (no thanks to them) and living in an actually nice sober living house. I would leave a more scathing review over their “family therapy” program and team but thanks to my new mental health IOP I will refrain from doing so. Paula is amazing, Chelsea is cool, the Equestrian team is amazing minus the old lady. And the Techs are legit. But I wouldn’t go here again if you drugged me and took me against my will and paid them to do it. Wait that’s how it happened the first time lol.
