I have been there many times for tests, and admitted a few times. I have to say from the first step in the door till the last step out. I was treated with respect. The staff knows how to treat a person the way they… would want to be treated. Thank you all very very much.
From the surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, surgical team, hospitality, room service, techs, case workers, OT, PT, guest services and to every staff member I encountered, my experience was exceptional. After a complex… 7-hour surgery and a few unexpected bumps in recovery, I was treated with compassion, professionalism, and genuine care every step of the way. The staff made a difficult week much easier, and I always felt safe, supported, and heard. I am incredibly grateful for the care I received and would highly recommend this hospital to anyone in need of excellent medical care.
Taking good care of a friend and all the nurses and doctors have been very good to him.
Hospital staff have been nothing but extraordinary with the red side manner and catering to every need. I’ve needed. Doctors have bent over backwards to get me into a Dialysis clinic even when no other hospital would I… can’t tell you how appreciative I am that these people have been here for me and I needed it the most so thank you for being so amazing all of you and I’m sorry the rest of these people are hateful.
I took my Ma into the ER for pain in her lower right side. They were pretty busy but got Ma a room in 15 minutes. They gave her some pain meds and took her for a catscan on her side and back. They took real good care of… her. The staff was nice and polite and Very helpful. The room was nice and clean. They diagnosed Ma gave her medicine and called in medication to our local pharmacy. Got us in and out in 4 hrs. I had to come do out patient bloodwork for my family Doctor before my appointment. They were very nice and professional and went out of their way to get my order from my doctor. It was a quick in and out this time.
Easy to read and get the info I need
Just generally horrible service and on top of that, it seems like everyone who works here in the morning, drives like an absolute jerk. Horrible service with ridiculous prices for things that you didn't even have done.… Double check your bills and stay away from anybody who drives to this place because they're dangerous! As far as emergency room services go, they truly don't care about you. I sat so long that my ureter ruptured and started to go septic, throwing up bile and passing out(I can't even remember it, I was told this happened) even then there was no rush to try to help me with a 7 mm kidney stone stuck and ripping through a 1 mm tube from my kidney, additionally I advised that opioid painkillers like morphine have little to no affect on me in regards to lowering pain levels, so the ER decided to take me off whatever was in the IV that was working fine and replaced it with morphine, just like I asked them NOT to do. Opioid painkillers have an adverse response in my body and cause me to become extremely agitated and the pain is almost amplified. Eventually my partner was able to get someone to ALMOST listen as the ER then brought another IV bag, after waiting 30 minutes for it to "warm", and then plugged in an ice cold bag of saline and then added something other than morphine to finally lower my pain levels to a point where I could communicate and stay conscious. After the ER fiasco I was subjected to unnecessary surgery and pain for weeks because their machinery was broken. This place sucks. Plain and simple. I don't understand what I'm being billed for as BVHS failed me at every step of my ordeal and due to their incompetence I had to go through extra surgery and pain. Eat dirt and find a different job, you're unprofessional and simply not good and you're making the hard working doctors and nurses and staff look terrible. Next time I have an emergency, I'd rather risk the outcome than waste my time and money at death valley hospital.
I recently stayed for 6 days on the MedSurge floor. I want to give a huge Shout Out to the staff. The PCTs,the Nurses, the Dietary, and the Dr's. were fabulous!!! Everyone was very kind and supportive . I've been a nurse… for many many years and I was truly blessed to be in their compassionate care. They were always helpful and encouraging. Thank you to each and everyone of you for my great care!! I will never forget you!! God bless you all!😊
So I am sitting in the e.r. with my wife and a child came in with injuries from time at babysitter's and the hospitalist is outside the door talking to a nurse and I swear I just heard him say "Keep the documentation… for this At a minimum. I don't want to go to court." And laughed! I am so shocked and appalled and heartbroken for that family. We come to this hospital for help and are seen as an inconvenience? It is 10:24 am on Monday Oct 21 2019. If the parents of this child need me to testify that I heard it, please contact me. I'm sickened and beside myself. I was sorely tempted to intervene but I felt it not to be my place and I also didn't want to make a bad situation worse. I'm truly sickened.
One star for ER. ER discharged me, wasn’t sure of my diet at all, and apparently GI did not approve of me being discharged. Hospitalist was a female and she didn’t really know what was going on half the time. A DAY… later after treated horribly in the er by nurses who talk crap about other patients and I heard it, I was sent BACK to the hospital by my GI bc my inflammatory markers were “unsafe to be an outpatient”. Still in the hospital at this time at another hospital as I was shipped out for immunosuppressant treatment and a colon rescue (thanks ER for sending me home with the wrong diet and almost causing me to need my colon removed! You will be hearing from me!). Now. Enough with negative stuff. The INPATIENT services are actually not too bad, they’re pretty good at sticking people for blood tests or starting an Iv. I highly recommend bypassing ER if you need to be an inpatient. Now there were some great nurses but Bri don’t play. You’re scared? Nurse Bri. Uncomfortable? Nurse Bri. She has a bright energy that really helps in hectic satiations, I had never felt more comfortable with her. Thank you nurse Bri!!!!
I was very disappointed with the lack of communication regarding protocol for families visiting in the maternity area. Perhaps something could be posted somewhere because evidently the nurses are far too busy to talk to… family sitting in the waiting room for hours.
Yeah. Um. The nurse, Amber in ER basically told me I was just a number there at the hospital. She put me through excruciating pain trying to find a vein but couldn’t find one even using the ultrasound. She stuck me once… in the hand, and I warned her it’s not gonna go well if you have to restick me so please just make sure it’s a good one before you go in. (My skins sensitive and I don’t do well with needles, it takes me a very long time to heal due to my condition.) Ok well apparently she couldn’t draw blood from it so she had to stick me AGAIN. I’m very distressed over the situation on top of extreme pain I was already there for. She told me she has other patients to take care of and that she didn’t have time to deal with me “freaking out for no reason.” She flushed the port HARD, in my hand, which made it more painful, she kept agressively grabbing the port when she was screwing and unscrewing things, causing unnecessary pain. Since she failed at the first try and left the iv in my hand, she tries to go BACK IN with no time for me to calm down at all (I’m talking I was begging her for 5 minutes for me to calm down). She told me she didn’t have time to wait 5 minutes for me to calm down when other people have more important issues going on (I was internally bleeding and my doctor rushed me to the ER bc it was uncontrollable and painful). I finally started freaking out angrily and then she left me alone but not without serious attitude and no compassion at all. She then used the ultrasound, and still MISSED AGAIN. I’m in so much pain, I’m sobbing and shaking and she’s still moving the needle around trying to find the vein, after I told her that spot was painful to stick ALREADY but apparently it’s the only other spot she could find (sure….). I swear this felt like I was being punished for the rest of the time. She tried to attach the one in my inner bicep to a saliene drip. It stated to become insanely painful but she was GOING TO LEAVE IT BECAUSE IT WAS STILL GOING THROUGH. Finally when I started foaming at the mouth because it hurt so bad she swapped it back to my hand and it was fine. But she came back, aggressively flushed the port in my arm as if it wasn’t already clear it was painful. Like I completely forgot about the pain I was already in from my disease. I was so scared all I wanted to do was leave after that. No compassion whatsoever. And before I left. She tells me I need to find a “coping mechanism” because I have a disease and there’s nothing I can do to work around it. (Btw she refused to give me 5 minutes to calm down until I actually started to have a meltdown). And I was being kind after she pulled BOTH IVS OUT and talking about how she probably didn’t like HURTING people doing that and she goes “I actually like doing IVs.” WHAT!? Yeah I don’t want to ever come back here again. I was so scared and never even met with a GI just he said she said. And they weren’t gonna send me home with ANYTHING bc they “assumed” I had the steroid already at home. Make it make sense. I don’t know how I feel about this place but I have been in and out of hospitals for a number of years since I was 15 all over Florida and NEVER have I been treated like this. I was more distraught about being there than the emergency itself (as the doctor even told me this was an emergency situation and I needed to go to the ER.) I never deserved that and it genuinely traumatized me, my arm still hurts severely and might have to go back to the doctor to find out why it’s still hurting me thanks.
My grandma had to wait over 3 hours to get something for heartburn. I understand this is a hospital, there are other patients needs that trump heartburn but 3 hours is ridiculous. She didn’t want to eat anything because… it was bothering her so much. This was on the 5th floor. I got fed up and couldn’t bite my tongue any longer. Spoke with her primary nurse and the supervisor, they voiced that they were in the process of working on it. But, seriously!? It takes over 3 hours?
Hearing nursing and patient care staff sit at the nurses station discussing another patient’s “mess” they made makes me wonder what is said about my loved one that others are overhearing and RN Bernie is rude and… abrasive…I wouldn’t recommend BVHS to anyone.
It genuinely surprises me to see so many negative reviews and comments about the doctors and experiences here! Over the last 14 months, I have developed a plethora of severe medical issues, 4 different stays requiring… 6+ days each time, in the ICU. Every time except for 2- I was brought in by ambulance and the EMTs have been incredible every time. I was never made to wait (as far as I’m aware, due to unconsciousness.) For those complaining and leaving low reviews over hearing talking and beeping all the time and all night, while in the ICU… yes.. that’s what happens. Being in the ER, the ICU, and a private room on the upper floor, will each come with a totally different experience. Comparing one to another is unfair. The doctors and nurses were ALL fantastic and in my opinion- went above and beyond. They had a numerous amount of different Doctors come in to speak with me and they didn’t leave a single stone unturned..They checked on me consistently and constantly were running tests and giving me appropriate medications. I have very small veins and issues with needles, they had no issues whatsoever with using the smallest gauge needle that they could use!! It was significantly better than my previous experiences. Keeping me an extra few days even after symptoms improve JUST to make sure that it doesn’t decline again once disconnected from all the machines. They really did a great job at making me feel like they cared, and that I was safe. They kept in contact with my fiancé - and my mother who lives across the country, which made us all feel better. I have no complaints about any of the staff members at this hospital, and I truly believe that they deserve better reviews than what there is. I hope that those who did not receive care up to their standards, end up finding it here. Thank you to all the staff for not only saving my life but CARING and making my family and I feel safe. You guys are great. Also- the food is actually very good at this hospital! So good, in fact, that I could not *not* mention it! Haha. Thanks, BVHS. ♥️
Hit or miss. Mostly miss. I am writing a review for my friend after she was discharged when she was too sick to be discharged and is now in another ER. The hospitalists are dismissive and don't listen. Nurses were… arrogant, and CNA from today didn't want to do her job and was brusque. The CNA didn't want to do her job and had an attitude. The social worker was condescending and lazy. I see why the hospital has only 3.1 stars.
I was fortunate to be here. Fantastic care team from beginning to end. Excellent communications every step of the way.
Awful staff crappy customer service doctor told me he didn’t want me to feel better since iv been there a lot and to toughen it out, and I had some expensive Ohio weed that I have my listens for in my book bag and the… took it from me and and destroyed it, I thought they were just holding onto it but nooo when I’m unconscious they go through my stuff completely appalled gonna go to Toledo now wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, employees are yelling and talking in the middle of the night in the icu with that and all beeping it’s hell
Always care and respect from all the teams
Recently had shoulder surgery and the staff was incredible! Things worked out well and went perfectly!
So disappointed in you as a health care facility not doing breast check exams anymore! Was so shocked when I had my mammogram that a breast exam was discontinued. Prevention is so key to women's health. So disappointed… in you bvhs.
Good
It is the WORST place to be. They are rude. NEVER GO THERE.
Absolutely worst hospital and patient care I’ve ever experienced. I took my boyfriend here at about 7pm because he was extremely pale, had a high fever and most concerning had bumps in his left arm and it was so painful… and stiff he could not move it. Upon arrival it took almost two hours for him to get a bed. He was literally laying on their benches progressively getting worse, with his arm now swelling up and developing a rash. The only reason they even took us back is because I told them he’s getting worse and needs to be seen now. When we finally got back there, they put him on a bed in the hallway. He was literally being treated in the hallway. Surrounded by other nurses and patients with absolutely zero privacy. We saw the nurse one time who informed us she would do what she can to help, she never came back, and we saw absolutely nobody else for 3 more hours. During this time he began convulsing and throwing up. I talked to the nurses 3 different times and his mother had to call the hospital in order for a doctor to actually come see him. When she did, she tried to chalk up his symptoms to a common flu or covid and had no interest in performing any lab tests. I went back and told them they needed to do something so we could figure out what he had. Finally, after another hour, a nurse came and performed lab tests and FINALLY hooked him up to an IV. When the results came back the ONLY information they had was that he had some kind of infection!!! THEY DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHAT KIND!! They just prescribed him some generic antibiotic intended to combat general infections and sent us home 6 hours later at 1:30am. And all this happened in the hallway. He never got a room although we saw two rooms clearly empty. The service is ridiculous and we are never coming back here. And I warn all of you to never go there either.
