My Mom was admitted to hospital August 13 thur 19th very disappointed in the services she got.
Dr. James Vandenberg provided an absolutely unacceptable level of care. I came to the ER in severe pain and vomiting uncontrollably, yet I felt completely dismissed and not taken seriously. I was sent home, only to be… diagnosed the very next day with ovarian torsion and undergo emergency surgery to remove my ovary after it lost its blood supply. In my opinion, Dr. Vandenberg showed extremely poor judgment, compassion, and patient care. I would not recommend him to anyone seeking emergency medical care.
Patient I was with was sent to the ER by the Oncology Department from the very same hospital. Sent there to treat on going pain. At the current juncture we are at hour 4.5 of waiting. Not one single person has said a… word about wait time, asked if things are worse...nothing. Not sure why they call it the emergency room when it's technically a waiting room for people who need better care that what this place can give. I worked on an Ambulance for years, I remembered when these places actually cared. You can tell it's just a job and these people would rather be anywhere else. They DON'T care.
Be careful with Dr. Hough if he tries to give you a fentanyl prescription when you tell him you’re not in pain. You should also keep a close eye on your bill. I left a message for the financial office but haven’t… received a call back. They sent me an original bill by email but later increased it after I filed a grievance with risk management. I’ve also had several of my questions to risk management and the patient advocate go unanswered. Even if it’s a little further, you’re better off driving to another ER than going here. You’re life will be in better hands by doing so.
Went to visit a sick family member and this was the first time I had ever come to this facility as a visitor. Therefore, I did not know the policy on what was required for admittance. I did not have my ID on my person… at the time and was met with open frustration and clear signs of irritation from the staff at the registration desk. While I understand it can be frustrating when people don’t know or follow the rules and that everyone is human and allowed to display emotions, it’s still not something that staff members who are representing any health network and patient/people-facing should be so nonchalant about. It’s not only unprofessional, but also surely not representative of the core values of the Blessing Health System, which I can only hope includes something along the lines of being compassionate towards others.
I would not taking a dying loved one to this hospital. Staff stink, some bad phlebotomists, appointments for the sake of appointments (if you have private insurance!). I know people that work in this hospital and they… dont want their loved ones receiving care here. Do better. Edit: Their billing department is HORRIBLE to work with. You will INCONVENIENCE them by simple things like wanting RECEIPTS.
Had a loved one there for major spinal pain not a single thing was done about it no X-rays no CT scan no bloodwork no nothing just sent home on meds this hospital is a joke
My husband had a stroke, wasn't taken seriously, took 22 hours for a MRI & heparin.
The nurses are rude and bossy and the doctors act like they are God. I wouldn't go there if I was dying. The doctors will lie to keep you from getting released. They will say you are a danger to others or yourself . My… daughter is a loyal bootloader in the heart department. Diana w. Needs to grow up. Also the nurse waiting on my so lied so as her poh I am not allowed to contact her.
Absolutely a awesome Hospital
Truly believe Blessing Hospital lives up to its name it really is a blessing! From the moment I arrived until the time I left, I felt I was in the best hands. The doctors were highly professional, and the nurses were… absolutely wonderful. They took such great care of me and our baby girl, always showing kindness, patience, and expertise. I felt safe, supported, and well cared for throughout my entire stay. Thank you for making my delivery such a positive and unforgettable experience. I couldn’t have asked for better care! 2nd experience : I can’t thank this doctor enough for what they’ve done for me. I was suffering from this problem my entire life and had seen multiple doctors in different countries without ever getting real answers or lasting relief. From the very first appointment, this doctor truly listened to me, took my symptoms seriously, and made me feel understood. After years of searching, they were finally able to identify the real cause of my condition and offer the right solution. The surgery went smoothly, and I already feel such a difference in my quality of life. I’m beyond grateful for their expertise, professionalism, and compassion.
Never sent me the bill after my ER visit. Asked twice about it, they told me it wasn't in the system and for me to wait, they would mail it to me. Finally checked a third time, they told me it was due months ago and… sent it to collections. I never recieved a bill. They claim they sent 4 to an old address, even though the lady checking me in at the ER told me she updated my address. They also told me that the bill was available a month before my second time asking about it. So the lady who told me it wasn't available lied to me. Then the two lady's I spoke to this time told me it was my fault for not continuing to ask about it since I knew I owed money and making sure the address was correct. Never apologized, didn't care. I shouldn't have to beg for a bill, and I DID ask twice before and apparently was lied to. And how was I supposed to know they still had an old adddess, they TOLD me they changed it at my visit. The billing department is a scam and I'm never going back.
Went in for an eye exam. The student Nurse said they wanted to practice prostate exams and asked if I would be willing. I was hesitant but gave in after he pressured me a little more. I enjoyed the sensation. I also got… new glasses prescribed
I was born in Blessing Hospital.
they do not understand how to deal with diabetic patients. they don't know how to use a sliding scale for insulin, can't do glucose checks consistently, can't count carbs. we have to fight with them just to make sure my… mom doesn't die from keto acidosis or fall into a coma from low glucose. if you have type 1 diabetes, make sure you have someone to advocate for you.
Over 3 hour wait in emergency. Admitted for pancreatitis, then next day told just a UTI and prescribed a week of antibiotics and nurse told me to pick up pain meds at my pharmacy. I didn't need the pain meds but the… nurse said the doctor ordered them. At the pharmacy no pain meds were ordered. I was embarrassed and made to look like an addict. I believe it was intentional. The hospital staff are cruel, mean, and stupid. This hospital has misdiagnosed my cancer 3 times and each visit in the last 5 years, a nurse has purposely caused needless pain. Don't go there.
Incompetence and ignorance galore. If you have the opportunity to go anywhere else, you are better off. The majority of the doctors could care less about their patients. They almost killed my father TWICE. I sincerely… hope this hospital is investigated by state and federal authorities.
Not very happy with this hospital ER. My husband is going through alchole withdrawls. Took him on friday afternoon and they did blood work and said all is good. Him and i both knew something is not right. We tried to… tell them. They just said all, all looks good if he has Seizures or convoltions bring him back and we will try to give him something. Fast forward to today he had 2 seizures back to back. Ambulance took him HRH. They said hes lucky to be alive. When i told them what Blessing said they was like wth! Will not go back to Blessing. Maybe for the walk in clinic but thats it. The ER stuck and will not recommend them to anyone.
Absolutely terrible do not go here
If you want your personal medical information told to a entire full waiting room as the doctor trys to leave as fast as possible, of have the doctor dictate his notes at the nurses station where you and everyone else… can hear your personal information said and for him to get it wrong because he can't listen. Or been told you have a major issue that magically goes away doing the procedure and get to listen to your doctor saying it another bad ct scan and flirt with the nurse. Then for him to be in hurry to leave after telling you there is nothing wrong with you get a 2nd opinion and lose weight with a 1000 dollar drug a month. Then have the floor nurse care more about talking about hair products then Caring for you, or saying here is manu and order what you want to with no instructions and still being drug enough you can't understand how to, and not coming back for a half hour. Not being told anything about what they are doing That you get so mad you just want rip everything out and leave because you treated less then person, this is the hospital for you.
They lie! The staff lie. They're screw ups. They seem to be unable to provide surgical updates. They aren't able to send a simple prescription to the proper pharmacy. They can't even handle discharging patients without… turning it into a nightmare. Not a hospital I would recommend. Not one I'll ever go into, as a patient or a visitor, again! Don't trust the staff, especially the surgical floor! They tell too many lies! Medical staff shouldn't lie!
