Crestview Recovery – Portland Reviews
What is Crestview Recovery like for patients? Reviews in this section, from RehabSeekers and from around the web, describe the program in the words of patients and families who know it.
This place is run very poorly, I was genuinely shocked. All the buildings are run down, stained carpets, broken doors, multiple tiny beds to a tiny room, done for blatant financial reasons to pack as many people in a… room as possible - the guests comfort is blatantly irrelevant despite the $20,000 asking price. Almost none of the beds were made, showing that the people there are not interested in truly changing. They also had drug rap music playing on the tv (Young Thug). Absolutely ridiculous for their asking price. Not an environment to heal and get better. False advertisement.
Not ADA accessible (steep and narrow stairs, no elevator when all classes are held on the second floor). Staff was rushing me through the intake process, and did not go over the PHP material (content of classes,… available in-house resources, etc.) and didn't seem to know their own processes. My insurance carrier specified this place as specializing in LGBTQ+ but the person doing intake tried to categorize me into specific boxes that didn't apply to me. It was also not clarified if the program separates mental health from the substance use program or if it's all mixed together. I was handed a binder and water bottle but not given time to review the paperwork while onsite.
Thankful to this program. Was a positive experience for my family member. Everyone was kind and supportive.
Our experience with Crestview Recovery Center exceeded every expectation we had. The level of care and compassion shown by the entire staff is truly exceptional. They didn't just focus on our daughter's recovery—they… genuinely cared about her as a person, treating her with dignity, respect, and kindness every step of the way. What impressed us just as much was the support they provided to our family. Addiction affects everyone who loves the person struggling, and the Crestview team understood that. They were there for us throughout the entire process, offering guidance, encouragement, and reassurance far beyond what we ever expected. Garrett, who helped us through the admissions process, was outstanding. His professionalism, patience, and compassion made an incredibly difficult time much more manageable. He worked with us over an extended period, helping us navigate insurance and ensuring everything was in place so that when our daughter was finally ready to seek treatment, her admission to Crestview was seamless. Garrett also took the time to help me process the emotions that come with having a child battling addiction, offering thoughtful guidance and support that I will never forget. On the day our daughter arrived, Zoey, her counselor, was remarkable. When our daughter wanted to leave, Zoey met her with empathy, patience, and understanding. Her ability to connect with our daughter and help her choose to stay was nothing short of extraordinary. The care, thought, and dedication that every person at Crestview Recovery Center puts into helping individuals and their families is beyond measure. We are deeply grateful for the role they have played in our daughter's recovery journey. If you are looking for a recovery center where people truly care, I cannot recommend Crestview Recovery Center highly enough.
My son was treated at Crestview Recovery, they made him feel very comfortable to accept his alcoholism, which he has never done in the past. They also taught him tools to sub-due triggers that make him turn to alcohol.… They kept us in the loop every week to his progress with updates and information for when he was released, for him to continue his journey of sobriety. They got him on the medications he's needed to maintain his mental heath problems as well, that also contribute to his addiction. I truly believe if it wasn't for all the help he received at Crestview Recovery I think my son would still be struggling with his addiction in a destructive manner. I will always be very Grateful to all the staff at Crestview Recovery.
We were calling several facilities when I spoke with Garrett who was compassionate, informative and always got right back to us during a very difficult time. They took care of all the paperwork with my son and the… counselors and staff have been lovely, caring, positive and supportive. My son also says the food is very good. We are so thankful for Crestview.
I am so grateful to Crestview, and most especially Garrett, who coordinated an extremely difficult admission for a loved one suffering from addiction. He was convinced after a few sober days that he could go home, much… to the dismay and fear of all those who love him and know his addiction is years in the making. Garrett was instrumental in working tirelessly and patiently to support him until he finally understood his own need for help and was ready for true inpatient recovery treatment. I believe Garrett has saved this person’s life.
The team did an outstanding job helping one of my family members getting back on their feet. 3 years later I can testify it had lasting results.
Garrett Tardif and Crestview staff truly care about their clients and their path to recovery. Communication and willingness to make a positive difference are evident throughout their involvement.
Crestview offers great treatment for those in need. They make the admission process quick and easy. If you are looking for care for yourself or a loved one this is a great place to start.
I met their staff and they were really helpful, nice and professional.
My experience at Crestview has been unique. It surpasses any other treatment center I have been to. The houses I stayed in were nice, food was great, But most of all my counselors changed my recovery for the better. I… learned skills that I haven’t Gotten into depth with any other recovery atmosphere, and made connections to some of the best people I’ve met in recovery and will continue to recover with indefinitely. The case manager Taylor, helped me to get into a sober house that I couldn’t be happier with and registered my EBT. Thank you, Crestveiw For giving me a new beginning that I feel confident in going forward.
Grateful to have found this place for my recovery. I was greeted with open arms and was provided with all the necessary skills to help me with my recovery. I feel like it saved my life by going here, not only helped… with my sobriety but also has taught me life skills. I want to thank all the techs, counselors and staff. I won't forget the experience and all the help that I received from this place.
Excellent!!
I owe my life to Crestview recovery I made one simple phone call and they handled the rest. Within 24 hours, I was admitted and started my recovery. They handled everything from paperwork for my FMLA to my medications a… special thanks to Taylor and the staff. I had no clue what to expect. First time in recovery thehousevery receptive to my needs.
This place is ran by people that want to keep you there as long as they possibly can. It’s a puppy mill and it’s very clear that they are more interested in making as much money off of you and your insurance company as… they possibly can. With that said I did meet some nice people and some complete idiots that have no business helping people recover. They push the Cult of AA on you like a drug. AA is a cult and not the only means out there for recovery. Be careful in your choice of where to seek help. I don’t recommend this outfit.
DO NOT GO HERE!
My experience going here was incredibly mid and honestly disappointing. I went here seeking treatment for PTSD and reoccurring suicidal thoughts after leaving a domestically abusive relationship. I was doing outpatient… for a couple of weeks and I was merely surrounded by people in the group who were struggling with depression. Nothing in the group ever applied to my specific situation. I spoke to the counselor about this and he even agreed that this probably wasn’t a good match. Besides that, all we did was do worksheets and then watch youtube videos and occasionally talk about ourselves. I found myself feeling helpless and incredibly frustrated. I just ended up leaving the group with no warning because it got me nowhere. I ended up just filing reports on my abuser and that was infinitely more relieving to my mental state than talking about radical acceptance and accepting things we can’t change.
Crestview was my first experience in a PSP/ IOP. The vulnerability and forthrightness of the group members made me quickly realize it was a safe space. My 1 on 1 therapist and the mental health group facilitators were… compassionate and challenging. A significant sign of the progress they helped me make was that I went grocery shopping yesterday. An hour in the store, alone, without any anxiety. Something I hadn't done in the months leading up to the program.
Someone at this location ordered a delivery and I arrived at this location to deliver their order, two men approached me, one indicated he was an employee and the other was either an employee or possible a resident.… They tell me that I can't park there as its a "secure facility", it's private property and they will arrest anyone who parks there (keep in mind they placed the order and requested this delivery although I didn't realize that at the time). Clearly a bogus claim for numerous reasons. 1) I was parked on an easement nose in blocking the sidewalk which is public property (businesses or private residences don't own the sidewalk that's public property which also extends 2ft past the sidewalk which I was well within) 2) police don't arrest people for parking violations at best I could get a trespass warning however at the time they confronted me I was on the easement as was my vehicle and they initiated the delivery. Part of their agreement when placing the order is giving permission to be on the property to complete the order (people should really read what they are agreeing to) 3) substance abuse facility or not, they can't arrest people (they aren't cops) nor can they have people arrested (My main profession is managing a behavioral health facility and I only deliver on the side to pay for my graduate degree so I'm well versed on the matter) I tell them I'm there to deliver an order (I wasn't aware that it was their order at the time) and he keeps saying he will arrest me, so I tell them I don't care and go to drop off the order. The person who is either a resident or an employee says something that I believe was a threat, but I am unsure and when I turn around, he is up against the back of my vehicle and starting to back away and the other guy is pleading with him saying "don't do it, don't do it. I don't want you to get in trouble". He then walks up to where I dropped off the order and starts bringing the bags inside (this is when I realize it's their order). I inform him that I'll be reporting him and will have his account suspended for making threats. On top of the threats, I also believe the other man was attempting to either vandalize my vehicle or steal something out of the back. My back was turned because I was setting the order down on the porch but there was no reason for him and the other man to be at the back of my car and by the concern in the employee's voice pleading with him to stop, he was clearly doing something he wasn't supposed to. I ended up contacting Portland Police non-emergency and informed them of what I observed and believe to have happened while my back was turned, and they were going to send out officers then contact me after they spoke with the two individuals. They also laughed and confirmed that no, they don't arrest people for that and there are no such laws regarding that type of facility (Just a hostile employee on a power trip acting like a Karen). I contacted the delivery service who stated they will be suspending the persons accounting pending further review and will likely ban them. They also stated they will provide the customers information to the police and to direct them to contact them. If these employees are any indication of the competence and professionalism of this facility, you should avoid it at all costs. All in all, these two embarrassed themselves as well as their employer. As I said before I manage a large behavioral health facility and if my employees did this, I would fire them immediately. I will also be making an official board complaint for safety concerns regarding this facilities staff and residents as these employees have no business being involved in patient care.
I had a great experience with this place. Counselors and staff make you feel seen and heard. I was challenged on my thinking patterns in a professional way. The tools I learned from this place will stick with me for… life. Staff were understanding and patient. They make it a safe environment for everyone to be there.
This recovery program truly changed my life. From the moment I arrived, I was treated with respect, compassion, and dignity. The staff genuinely care—they meet you where you are, listen without judgment, and never give… up on you, even when you’re struggling to believe in yourself. The clinical team is knowledgeable and supportive, and the counselors go above and beyond to make sure you feel heard and understood. The groups were powerful, honest, and healing, and I learned tools I will carry with me for the rest of my life. This place didn’t just help me get sober—it helped me understand myself and gave me hope again. If you’re on the fence or scared to take that first step, know that you will be supported every step of the way here. I am deeply grateful for this program and the people who make it what it is. I would recommend it without hesitation to anyone seeking real recovery.
I came to Crestview in November 2022. When I originally first came I was transferred from a detox and was told I’d only come for a few days to see how I liked it before signing paperwork, and upon my arrival I was… informed that I signed up for a 45 day program. I never agreed to that and when I told them they just said I was probably high on the phone when it happened (I was 3 weeks clean) and as annoying as that was I actually ended up really enjoying Crestview. The majority of the counselors and staff you could tell really cared about the clients. They helped show me that there are people who care and gave me a whole new outlook on life. Kelly was the head counselor and Jessica was my counselor aswell and those two really did save my life, they gave me a safe place to be myself and stop running from my problems. After graduation I even kept in contact with a lot of the staff, they helped me get into one of their Oxford houses, and my life has been really amazing since. The owner Aaron also wasn’t very involved with the clients, I can’t remember a time he talked to us but I figured they’re pretty busy dealing with all the financial and legal things. Overall other than the intake issues this was an amazing rehabilitation center and I don’t think my life would have improved the way it did without them, thank you so much crestview!
I came to Crestview skeptical. I had been to several treatment centers in the greater Portland area, including Hazelden and Cedar Hills, so my expectations were low. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of… care I received at Crestview, and can report that it is the best facility I have been to. I started as a self transport patient in their 5 days a week PHP program, and continued on to their 3 days a week IOP program. I found the program surprisingly individualized, which was refreshing given my storied treatment history. The counselors are very kind and introspective and perpetually had me thinking about my situation in new ways. They also have an excellent medical team that helped me get a handle on my physical health, a first for any treatment centers I have been to. I would highly recommend Crestview for anyone struggling with drug/alcohol addiction. It has helped me greatly to get and maintain sobriety.
Crestview has been such an amazing experience! The staff is extremely helpful and truly cares about their clients. My experience has been truly life changing. I would highly recommend this program to anybody who is… looking to change their life. 10/10 would recommend! Crestview for the win!
Just finishing up my partial hospitalization program (php) and I could not be more pleased with this program. Throughout the years I’ve been to through 4 different treatments due to my addiction (I’m 37) and this has… been the most helpful by far. Mark and all the staff from medical to the front door have been more than helpful. The therapists are competent beyond what I’ve seen experienced in other treatment facilities. Definitely recommend.
I am the parent of a young adult who just completed RTC, PHP and IOP at Crestview. I was in touch with Ryan Opsahl, the Dir of Outreach, about 9 months before my loved one entered treatment when I was researching… recovery programs. Ryan is a compassionate person who answered all of my questions during multiple phone calls over those months. His service level was outstanding - anytime I reached out to him he got back in touch with me right away, and if he did not have the answer to my question he either found it, or directed me to the person who could help. He shared part of his personal journey with me at one point, and that was meaningful, and gave me hope during a very difficult time. He also spent time working with my loved one once they decided to enter treatment, and advocated for them with the staff at Crestview. My loved one told me they thought the therapists were very good and they felt heard. They said they were able to open up in group based on the safe environment that was created. The only thing that could have gone better in my opinion, was the discharge process. Part of the program for me was a weekly call with the case manager for an update on my loved one. The case manager did not get in touch with me the last two weeks before discharge when my loved one was deciding on next steps regarding housing. It would have been beneficial to have a final call at the end with the case manager. Overall, I would say that my loved one received good care at Crestview, which has helped them make meaningful changes, and begin the process of moving forward in a positive and healthy way.
I had a great experience very educational and gave me great recovery skills. I would recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a new way of living without alcohol. I appreciate Crestview and all the staff, counselors and… all the the clients that I worked with to get this far. I would recommend it for anyone great place. Great experience thanks Crestview
