Providence Health Plan

Rehabs That Take Providence Health Plan

Providence Health Plan is part of Providence, a large not-for-profit Catholic health system operating hospitals and clinics across Oregon, Washington and beyond. Addiction treatment is covered across withdrawal management, residential care, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs and standard outpatient therapy. That distinction is worth settling before anything else.

Because the same organization insures many members and delivers their care, coordination inside the system is better than in fragmented arrangements, while programs outside the network may be harder to reach. Establish which product you hold before committing to a particular facility. That distinction is worth settling before anything else.

Why Trust RehabSeekers.com?

RehabSeekers is an independent behavioral health directory covering drug and alcohol addiction and mental health treatment providers.

Every listing has a source: an official register, a licensing record, or details the facility sent us.

Credentials shown honestly. Accreditation, licensing and registration listed separately.

Reviews shown exactly as written. Never edited, never removed because a facility asked.

No commission, no referral fees. Nothing a facility pays for changes where it appears.

Contact details always go direct. Calls reach the facility itself, never a call centre.

Common questions

Answered from what is listed here.

Does Providence Health Plan cover rehab?

Yes, through December 31, 2026. Providence plan summaries list mental health and substance use services as covered benefits, in network, both outpatient and inpatient. Facility-based levels such as inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient all run through the plan's behavioral health prior authorization process before admission.

Individual, small group and Medicare Advantage coverage ends December 31, 2026, so treatment that continues into 2027 needs a new plan.

Private Insurance Acceptedhttps://rehabseekers.com/insurance-accepted/private-insurance-accepted/
Is Providence Health Plan going out of business?

Yes, for most lines. Providence announced on May 21, 2026 that it is leaving most of its insurance business. Individual and family, small group and Medicare Advantage plans end December 31, 2026; large group and association contracts end on dates that vary; the Medicaid plan's future is under review.

Claims processing, prior authorization, provider contracts and customer service continue normally through 2026, and written termination notices went out July 30, 2026.

Does Providence Health Plan cover residential rehab?

Yes, in network and with prior authorization. On 2026 individual plans inpatient behavioral health care is coinsurance after the deductible: 20% on Connect 1500 Gold, 30% on Providence Oregon Standard Silver Choice and 35% on Columbia 5000 Silver in Washington. Residential care sits on the same authorization form.

Out-of-network residential stays are not covered on these EPO plans, so the center must hold a contract with Providence before admission.

Does Providence Cover Rehab?

Yes. Coverage includes medically supervised withdrawal, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and outpatient care, alongside medication for opioid use disorder.

Providence Health Plan sits inside a large not-for-profit health system, so many members are insured and treated by the same organization. Where that applies, medical, psychiatric and addiction records sit together and coordination is better than in fragmented arrangements.

Integration and Network Limits

The trade-off is familiar. Care inside the Providence system is straightforward; a program you found independently outside the network may not be reachable, and narrower products pay little or nothing outside it. Where an outside program is genuinely the right clinical answer, ask what exception process exists rather than assuming none does.

Oregon’s Deflection Programs

Oregon recriminalized drug possession in 2024 while requiring counties to build deflection programs routing people toward treatment rather than prosecution. For someone whose drug use has brought them into contact with police, deflection is a route into assessment that frequently moves faster than joining a waiting list unaided.
