Great place
They help me a lot by pointing out the things that I've been struggling with. Like my personality and characteristics was mostly stinking thinking. They gave me tool to help me manage my new lifestyle!
A great opportunity to start a better life. They have outstanding leadership and a great staff. Give them a call and start your sobriety journey today!
They took care of me very well, Emily was more than helpful and walked me through everything. Thanks again Emily
This was the best i place could have asked for. Friendly, welcoming, and sincerely caring staff on the most part. Most staff were in recovery so they were understanding. I would definitely recommend New Beginnings in… Waverly to anyone. My guess is 9 out of 10 people have a great experience. Theres no were to walk, run, or jog to get a bottle of booze. Its right on a lake for fishing on shore. Its high intensity like a hospital, only theres plenty of yard to walk around outside. Hubart H. Humphreys house he lived in while he was vice president. Historical and beautiful place for substance abuse treatment and recovery. Foods pretty dang good too. Excellent talented welcoming counselors!! Thank you staff at new beginnings!! And nurses too!!
Great place and alsome worker
Good rehab center. Staff is very nice and friendly.
Had a great experience at New Beginnings and would recommend it. The RS staff rules. I had a great primary counselor. Thank you for all you did for me.
So, i completed 2 stays at this location previously. The first time it was late 90s and it was called Charter.i did 42 day program, i wasn't court ordered and the place was nice. I came back around 02 or 03 ish and… they'd become New beginnings, completed a 28 day stay, both of these were Co Ed treatment. I was there again November of 2024, wasnt bad, but I noticed areas where there were cut backs, focusing on profit but they did have a new Rec building for activities. It's no longer co ed but I think that's important and should be that way for treatment. Anyway I lasted 5 days and left. I left for a combination of reasons but the 1st reason was a big one that was not ok and a total violation of ethics and I'm sure policy. Apon arrival you go through an admissions process where paperwork and questions and all those things take place, then there's staff that'll go through your things, checking what's approved, unapproved, considered contraband, medications, phone, gadgets, ect... they took some things to be placed in the counselors office, have me other stuff and made me aware of what's ok, what id need to ask, what stuff isn't allowed. I signed acknowledging i was informed. Place my stuff on a cart and led to my room. Roommate was asleep so I stayed up a couple hours and did nothing, with same staff that admitted me FF 2 days later I'm walking down the hallway, approaching the staff station and I can here my name coming from behind the wall, I was confused the windows on the other side and it was just odd, I peeked into the station, saw several people looking back and I turned away looking for the source of hearing my name when another girl/staff came out with an envelope and asked if this was me and is it mine. I grabbed it (the Manila envelope,) looked in and recognized it was some legal papers and some things I wanted with me to review. I said yes, where'd you get this? She said it was back there pointing to staff station, and when I turned and looked it was the girl who checked me in and all the residence staff. She had taken it to look over with all these staff and never told me. Idk why, or what for, but when they go through all your stuff at admissions, everything gets logged. They aren't supposed to secretly staff some of your things so they can review on their own, i wasn't confused it was clear what they were doing. After that a couple personal incidents and i left. Now after leaving about 2 months later I'm get an invoice/ bill from some company claiming I owe almost $200. So I call and say what is this? They tell me it's the balance of what isn't covered for medication while there. I took no medication while there, i came in with heartburn pills that I bought new, never opened. They're OTC, they chatted them in my stuff kept at nurses station. They are $14 and come 42 pills. I took one on a night we ate something I thought might trigger heartburn. ONE yes 1 pill, that belonged to me, that i brought with me paid in full. So they then billed some company so much for that one bill the balance was almost $200. Well I explained to this company is fraud then I called the to dog at new beginnings, who was conveniently out sick that day and left a detailed message explaining that this was fraud and i wanted a call back. There's no way to make a mistake when I took 1 pill of my OTC meds. I never heard from new beginnings. Meridian now owns a bunch of these facilities and they aren't bad, but you need to be aware. Lots of thieves, and if you smoke cigarettes, be careful as it's impossible to avoid the cigarette bums, always promising they get you this weekend or whatever but it's non stop and gets old super fast. It's for profit and feels like it. Food was decent, residents were a mix of voluntary and court ordered
If you are trying to get sober on your own and over the age of 20 I wouldn’t recommend!! Total chaos it’s like being in Hennepin county jail! People are young have ankle bracelets tracking them everyone’s talking about… their prison time!! I stayed less than 24 hours and left! Absolutely horrible
This place is a joke. The staff is extremely disinterested in providing quality care, especially the gothic counselor. They attempt to brainwash the clients by filling them with lies. I strongly advise against choosing… this facility.
CHAOTIC BEGINNINGS would be a more accurate title. This is not a good environment for anyone that is serious about recovery! The established "rules" aren't worth the paper they are printed on and that is the nicest way… I can put it. 100%, the inmates rule the roost because they are horribly short staffed. This means you don't receive the care that you need or want. It comes with constant anxiety due to all the fighting, thieving and poor staff that has the inability to share info between shifts. Borderline anarchy, for real. Stressful. Seriously, do not go to this facility if you want real help! If your "on paper" or trying to suck up to the Courts only - this place is for you. Best wishes to all those who are considering recovery to recover! Your my people.
Love this place...great staff...great program!
Horrible place!! (NOTE THIS IS NOT A DETOX!!!) You will not get help detoxing and women coming in high and drunk trigger all the other women! Staff are under trained. Medical-Head nurse is not training her staff, cold… as ice, lack of knowledge in her job and has zero compassion for residents. Med passers regularly pass the wrong meds to the wrong clients, pass meds at the incorrect time, keep clients controled substance and don't give them back. Owner acks like he is at a party and flirts with women. Counselors have almost no counseling ability (except one). They keep clients possessions and don't return them (cell phones and tablets). This is a awful place to be!! Women were getting in drugs and alcohol and the women they keep at the lake location are not allowed to be at their location all day up until 8 or 9 pm.
Horrible place. No programming going on while I was there. Some of the staff were very rude. Short staff every day. Programs canceled every day. Was ridiculous. Unless if you’re into watching movies and smoking… cigarettes all day you’ll like it. I wouldn’t recommend going here if you’re voluntarily trying to get help. Place is a joke!
Spent a total of 9 days there. I had 90 stolen security is bad staff overnights do not watch residents they were slack in monitoring have cametsa but do not record for playback. No searching residents rooms or testing… when residents known to be under influence or stolen property very last day upon leaving they stole from my packed items in facility van my personal paperwork now they can steal my identity
Women aren't on the lake, you're sent to a dumpy home in the middle of a field. Maybe see the lake once a week for a few minutes. Was told there was a gym to work out in, yeah it's by the lake which you can go to agsin… maybe once a week, and it's disgusting, broken equipment, dirty, dusty, garbage all over. The house was dirty, layers of grime and dust on the blinds and fans. I enjoyed most of the groups and mental health stuff and most of the staff was decent. Lots of drama, fighting. One tv ups with 3 couches that were constantly over taken by lodge 2. Oh I should say, women are split into two homes, and one home comes to the other ALL DAY LONG so you have around 28 women in a tiny dingy house. Hardly any activities offered during down time. Always short staffed so lodge 2 could never go back to their house when they were suppose to. I'm pretty sure I saw somewhere cell phones were allowed, which isn't true. Cant use the phones for 3 days when you get there which is a joke. Had a gal actively withdrawing in the shower and only myself and another patient helped her, no staff showed to help. I WILL say that a lot of the staff are amazing. Connie, Rhonda, Dennis , Stacy. I struggled a lot while there and each of these individuals took the time to talk to me and really listened. And for that I am thankful and am almost 7 months sober!
Someone that I know went here last Tuesday and ended up testing positive for Covid on Sunday. The roommate also tested positive for Covid. The facility had a Covid outbreak within the last week and didn’t inform new… patient coming in giving them the chance to decide if they wanted to take a risk to get exposed. The facility was short staffed because of Covid as well. On Saturday at least 10 people were sent home with Covid as well as on Sunday. At the time all of their isolation rooms were filled. They need to have a better plan in place for an outbreak like this moving forward. If there was an option for no stars that is what I would be giving this place.
This place absolutely saved my life just about 4 years ago to the date. The days were long however I appreciate those long days today! The staff are amazing! The food was delicious! I would always recommend this… treatment facility!
Just wanted to share my experience and hope and it all started with the womens inpatient treatment here. I went there in February 2020 and stayed about 45 days there. It was hard, I was scared and the recovery… specialists, counselors and nurses were the best. I went through the process, graduated outpatient, stayed at my sober house for 6 months and continued with life. I’ve been clean for almost 3 years by the grace of God and now I can say I have just joined the Meridian team myself as a recovery specialist and can hopefully help the next person find their recovery. Nothing that team of 2020 did was for nothing and I’m grateful to this day. You guys helped shape my future! Thank you ❤️ I miss taco day there!
Best treatment ever I love the lake, staff and food .if I had to do it over I would go back to new beginnings
My experience here was life changing. There are minor things that I would change, but overall: the care from the staff and counselors gave me the tools I needed to move forward in creating a new life.
I was here for most of June 2022. While not “perfect” as a five star review may suggest, my experience at NB was very favorable and much closer to a five than a four. The counselors, mental health professionals, and… other staff were all very friendly and supportive. The daily schedule provided for a several hours of both small group time and mental health class which was beneficial. The location on a lake is wonderful, especially for someone who enjoys fishing. Plenty of activities offered during free time and the food was good. My favorite part of the treatment process was about 3-4 nights per week we had either a AA or NA speaker meeting where people from area meetings would come and share their stories. Every one of these speakers stated their recovery was due to attending meetings, getting a sponsor, and working through the steps after treatment. It convinced me to do the same and I’m on my journey now, almost 100 days since my last drink. Thank you for everything NB!
