Benzodiazepines such as alprazolam, clonazepam, diazepam and lorazepam are prescribed across Minnesota for anxiety, panic and sleep, and coming off them needs a plan rather than a sudden stop. Minnesota programs that list benzodiazepine or sedative treatment range from outpatient tapering support to medically monitored withdrawal management and residential care.

The listings below show which Minnesota programs name benzodiazepine treatment or detox, along with their levels of care, payment options, accreditation and location. RehabSeekers.com gathers this from government treatment registers, state licensing records, accreditor listings and what providers tell us about themselves. Common questions about Benzo Rehab

Answered from what is listed here.

Where are benzo rehabs in Minnesota?

Benzo rehab listings in Minnesota cluster first in Waverly, followed by Duluth, Luella Anderson Subdivision, Rochester and Grand Rapids. Comparing those communities side by side shows how intake steps, withdrawal management and payment options differ from one town's programs to another's.

Large cities nearby include Minneapolis, Saint Cloud and Duluth, a point that matters when family visits, work or travel time shape the choice of program.

Rehab Centers in Waverlyhttps://rehabseekers.com/locations/us/minnesota/waverly-mn/
Does Minnesota Medical Assistance cover benzo rehab in Minnesota?

Nearly all of the benzo rehabs in Minnesota record accepting Minnesota Medical Assistance. Coverage can run through the health plan a member is enrolled in, such as HealthPartners, Hennepin Health, Itasca Medical Care, Medica or UCare, so having the plan name and member ID ready makes the first call with intake staff quicker.

Are there benzo rehabs near a river in Minnesota?

The Minnesota River, the North Fork Crow River and the Rum River are the waterways named most frequently near benzo rehabs in the state. Nearly all of the benzo rehabs in Minnesota sit within 25 miles of a river, and these facilities are a median of about 6.3 miles from the nearest one.

Is it safe to stop taking benzodiazepines on my own?

No, stopping benzodiazepines suddenly on your own is not safe, in Minnesota or anywhere else, because withdrawal can cause seizures as well as severe anxiety, insomnia and confusion. Any reduction should be a gradual taper planned with the prescriber or a medical team, paced to the person, the drug, the dose and how long it has been taken.

Since 2020 the Food and Drug Administration has required a boxed warning on benzodiazepines about dependence and withdrawal. A 2025 joint clinical practice guideline on tapering describes slow reductions that can be adjusted along the way, and clinical assessment decides whether withdrawal is managed through office visits or in a monitored setting.

Physical dependence is not the same as addiction. Plenty of patients using a benzodiazepine just as directed grow dependent as the body adjusts, while a sedative use disorder involves continued use despite harm. Both call for a careful taper, and an assessment can show how much support makes sense.
